Tried Kendo for the first time today because of the great reviews...I guess if you're a sushi person, it may be great...I'm not, so had the vegetable stir fry with chicken and again, it was ok, next time (if there's one) I would get the sauce on the side, for it was soaking in somewhat of a sweet sauce that I didn't appreciate. Amazing experience! We had the krab rangoons , Godzilla roll, teriyaki salmon. All of them were amazing , best krab rangoons I've ever had. And the salmon was the best! The staff was so so nice and made sure we were okay the whole time highly recommend. read more

This was my first time at Kendo and we had Hibachi, I had scallops and got 8 big juicy perfectly seared scallops, the fried rice was a 10, I have never had such tasty fried rice at a hibachi. The chef was very personable did his little show drew a heart with an arrow through it on the grill with oil and lit it on fire among other great feats! There were kids at another table and they and the adults were really enjoying the show! I can't wait to go again! read more

Today we found a real gem among the Venice restaurants. It is Kendo Japanese restaurant. Ambiance is beautiful, staff very friendly, food brings you to ommm... condition. The seafood is fresh, sauces and garnish are delicious and match perfectly, great presentation. We had Sashimi Lunch, Eeel, Sea Urchin, Ginger salad. All of them were exceptional quality. We were very impressed with everything going on here at Kendo! They were very busy but still got us seated quickly at the bar, food came out VERY fast and was beautifully plated and beyond delicious! Our server was polite and fast and we could tell he was working hard and enjoying his job. The manager (or owner) was moving around the restaurant helping all the employees where needed and talking with customers. The whole operation seems very organized and like they have a really good team- something we rarely see in this area anymore. Thank you Kendo! We will be back! Lovely Japanese restaurant. We ate at a table but were offered communal dining. I had chicken teriyaki and dad tried the noodles with beef. Both had plenty of meat and were tasty. Mine came with a salad. It was very sweet but that's what I expected with teriyaki. Beautiful restaurant, professional and prompt service. The waitress patiently explained several menu items. Our meal was excellent. Michael the sushi chef takes great pride in the quality of his rolls and the presentation was so beautiful I didn't want to eat it. I did and it was so good. My husband had a kendo bowl with veggie fried rice, full of fresh vegetables and tender beef. He said it was the best. The service was quick and restaraunt spacious and clean. Loved this place for the first year it was open, but not now. Not sure if it's a different owner, but the food was horrible this weekend. We had the Pad Thai (very bland, no seasoning, and rubbery chicken), and chicken teriyaki, which was fine pieces of bland, RAW chicken thrown on a bed of uncooked onions. Also has fried rice, and only found one small piece of carrot and egg...if it wasn't for the ginger dressing from my salad, I couldn't have eaten the rice. read more

We did the hibachi grill experience with Kevin, he was fantastic and everyone had a lot of fun! The interior is very nicely decorated. The next evening we went back for the sushi. Every time we come here, it's always a hit. The sushi is flavorful and delicious, and the appetizers are my favorite - especially the fried pork gyoza. I love their "Kendo Bowls"; I like to add my own spin on the flavor by asking for the same dip that I get with the pork gyoza. Staff is attentive, and the chefs know their craft. It is consistently getting worse and their prices keep going up. There are better sushi places around. West villages has an excellent sushi place.
