For those of you who know me, know that I love my pooch Ryno. He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and yes, is treated like royalty. I have yet to meet a Cavalier that hasn't been sweet, awesome, and overall just a great catch! I have not adopted from this rescue, but know people who have, I've also met a few people affiliated with the rescue at various meet ups and dog shows throughout IL and even WI. :-) You couldn't ask for a bunch of better people! Here's a little about their mission (taken from their website): GCCR's mission is to help ensure the health and security of abused, abandoned, and otherwise endangered Cavalier King Charles Spaniels by rehabilitating and placing Cavaliers from shelters and similar situations, by assisting breeders and owners in finding new homes for their Cavaliers, and by providing to the public educational materials and consultation regarding Cavalier health and care. The growing popularity of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels has prompted increased breeding by unscrupulous breeders and puppy mills. This development suggests that owners' concerns about health as well as the number of Cavaliers in need will only grow. Placement of Cavaliers in new homes without appropriate, knowledgeable veterinary testing may result in unforeseen, serious heartaches for new owners. I had an extremely disappointing experience as a first-time client. I brought my dogs in to be…read moreneutered and to have a cherry eye procedure done, and from the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly rude, loud, and unwelcoming. The way they spoke to me felt like they were almost yelling, which immediately made me uncomfortable. My dogs are small and were understandably excited and nervous being in a new environment. Instead of showing patience or understanding, I was told that I should leave one of my dogs in the car because they were difficult to handle. I found that completely inappropriate and concerning, especially when I was already feeling uncomfortable about leaving my small dogs in their care. There was also a comment made about the carpet my dogs were sitting on and how they needed to be picked up because they might pee on it. The way this was communicated came across as rude and dismissive rather than professional or compassionate. As a first-time client, the entire interaction left a terrible first impression. If the staff is going to be handling people's pets, especially small and nervous dogs, I would expect patience, professionalism, and basic kindness. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. Based on the way we were treated before the procedures even took place, I did not feel comfortable or confident leaving my dogs there. The customer service was unacceptable, and I would not recommend this place based on my experience.

Yesterday was the third time we've needed Dr. Jessica to release one of our dogs. Dr Jessica is not…read moreonly compassionate, but she's caring & very competent. We never feel rushed through this process. She let's us take all the time we need. I almost forgot to mention one of the other benefits of in home euthanasia: We have other dogs in our family. After Dr Jessica puts my girl to rest, we have our other dogs come in to say goodbye. My other guys know exactly where their pack mate went. They're not confused & they don't wander around the house looking for their family member. The comfort this brings them is priceless. If you're in need of this service, do call them & request Dr. Jessica. She makes a very difficult time just a bit easier. I highly recommend her!

You could not possibly ask for a kinder person to help through this process - she explains everything thoroughly, does not rush the process and was great with follow up communication as she even returned our dogs ashes to us in about a week.
