Adopted this adorable domestic short haired kitten named Honey from this adoption center. She's bonding so wonderfully with my 1 year old male at home. Adoption process went really well, and Lori was amazing. I've always enjoyed interacting with other cat lovers like myself. I love that this center truly cares on sending their furry loved ones to ideal homes. Thank you for all you do

Are you lonely? Your soul mate may be waiting right here for you! I mean, Brad Pitt lives here and gets to roam the hallways. I came here to drop off some cat food as a donation and decided to visit the kitties. The ladies working at the counter were very nice. I had to sign in and one of them gave me a tour of the cat section. There were about 6 different rooms where the cats live. Most of them roam free but some are in the cage for their own safety. They seem to have plenty of bedding, little boxes, toys, food and sun. The cats were pretty nice, some more friendly than others. There's a binder at the entrance of each room with information about the cats inside. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . We just adopted our first dog from ADOPT and we had a great experience! I was a little worried reading some of the reviews about others being rejected since we had never owned a dog before, besides family dogs when we were both kids, but we had a great experience, the staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. Just to give everyone all of the info that was on our application, we own a home with a sizable backyard, we're a married couple without kids, and we will be leaving our dog alone for 8-9 hours some days. We came in on a Saturday and told them that we didn't have a specific dog in mind but did have a size and age in mind and we wanted to see who would be a good fit for us. They took us back to where the dogs cages where and let us observe them. We had two in mind that we wanted to "interview" so each of the dogs was brought back to a get-to-know-you room. We asked for toys to be brought and there were treats in the room. We also asked to take each of the dogs for a walk to see how they behaved. I'm happy to say that we found a good fit! The adopton fee come with a microchip, spay/nuter, needed shots, 3 month of heart-worm meds, and about 2 weeks worth of food to take home We just came back from our first vet appointment and the vet was very impressed with how well the shelter took care of our puppy! I highly recommend going here and if not here please rescue!

Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue - Ryno, the wonder Cavalier!

WOW! I finally hit 500!…read more I wanted to make this review special--something that's close to my heart (just like my other 100 markers!). For those of you who know me, know that I love my pooch Ryno. He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and yes, is treated like royalty. I have yet to meet a Cavalier that hasn't been sweet, awesome, and overall just a great catch! I have not adopted from this rescue, but know people who have, I've also met a few people affiliated with the rescue at various meet ups and dog shows throughout IL and even WI. :-) You couldn't ask for a bunch of better people! Here's a little about their mission (taken from their website): GCCR's mission is to help ensure the health and security of abused, abandoned, and otherwise endangered Cavalier King Charles Spaniels by rehabilitating and placing Cavaliers from shelters and similar situations, by assisting breeders and owners in finding new homes for their Cavaliers, and by providing to the public educational materials and consultation regarding Cavalier health and care. The growing popularity of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels has prompted increased breeding by unscrupulous breeders and puppy mills. This development suggests that owners' concerns about health as well as the number of Cavaliers in need will only grow. Placement of Cavaliers in new homes without appropriate, knowledgeable veterinary testing may result in unforeseen, serious heartaches for new owners. The GCCR as well as other dedicated Cavalier rescuers and owners are here to help.

Both times I've been here it was very clean and just overall a great experience. In fact, I literally travel out there all the way from River North because I trust them so much. I've gotten two outstanding cats from this place. Sashimi, the adult tabby, came home about two years ago and has been the sweetest girl - my friends call her "angel cat" because she would never hurt a fly and loves people. Maki, the baby tuxedo, is the most well socialized kitten I've ever met. She is so brave and doesn't seem to understand the concept of strangers - I definitely credit the caregivers for socializing her so well. Both so healthy and happy! Thank you Hinsdale Humane Society for being such a reliable place and taking such great care of the little ones in their care! My home is a much happier place because of what you all do!

He did a phenomenal job, as the "Duchess" is already bein' a lap kitty the first night home. We're really so appreciative and are excited to give this lil' girl a loving home experience. Also this is a beautiful facility! It's heartwarming to know that these rescue animals have a wonderful space to stay until they are carefully placed in their new homes. Well done HHS!

They have been excellent in keeping him calm and getting the trim done quickly. This is not a review of their nail trimming abilities. This is a review of their all-encompassing compassion and fantastic customer service abilities in one of the worst times of my life in recent memory. Our cat, Zeke, was exhibiting some signs of being sick earlier in the week by not eating his food or drinking water. On Tuesday before work, he started wobbling when he walked and collapsed. I grabbed him and rushed him over to EVS St. Charles but they were about to close. I was panicking at that point so I drove over to Valley and begged them to please take him in because I didn't think he was going to make it through the day. He was a new patient so while I was waiting for a tech to come get him, they took his information and tried to talk me down. I thanked them profusely and left him in their care until the doctor came in and was able to evaluate him. I got a call a few hours later from Dr. Christakos with terrible news. Zeke had renal failure and his levels were so high that they wouldn't even register on their machine. She recommended that we give him IV fluids and monitor his progress throughout the day. If he needed more observation, we would take him to EVS for an overnight stay. Needless to say, he did not get that much better so we carted him to EVS for an overnight. He showed some improvement by drinking water by himself and using his box, so we took him back to Valley for another day of fluids and trying to get him to eat. Dr. Humphrey called me a little bit after I dropped him off and told me that she was worried about him and recommended one more night of observation and fluids. When we went to pick him up at the end of the day to take him back to EVS, he seemed more alert and we thought that he had a chance. Unfortunately, he had one more overnight stay before we had to say goodbye. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for the team at Valley being so patient, kind, and considerate. We've had nothing but bad luck with vets in the past (most of them just did not care and only wanted money) but Valley is really there for both the human and the animal. I am so proud to have them as our vet of choice and I would recommend them to anyone for any pet you have, at any stage of life. Thank you so much for everything and for taking such good care of our little pal.

We call a local vet referred to us by a family member who lives in the area. The young receptionist provides very little information other than take her to urgent care. Ugh. I decide to call our vet back home - Valley Animal Hospital. What a difference. The receptionist was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She looked up our records, and suggested a probiotic to help settle our pups stomach. A few days later our pup was back to normal. Really appreciate our vets advice. Saved us a few hundred bucks and a day of running around. Most importantly it got our golden retriever back to health.
