Attempted to adopt with a local animal rescue only to find out they were up charging to provide medical care for other dogs in their facility. Found Tiny and Tall and it was a great experience from the beginning to end! My phone interview was very pleasant and she was very friendly and informative. The foster mom reached out to me immediately as well. She was very friendly and answered ALL my questions. She then offered to meet 1/2 way between her and I. She was FANTASTIC! While in her foster care "Clark" was well loved you could tell. He was very social after being just rescued less than a week ago. She didn't tell us things we wanted to hear. She was honest with his training and where he was in process. He's fitting in nicely! I will definitely say that I would 100% recommend this rescue based on our experience! read more

Cut throat adoption process is an insult to qualified adopters. The adoption process is ridiculous for adopting dogs supposedly in need. Each dog gets multiple applications and if not chosen (not sure who you have to b(*W) to get approved to adopt), you are NOT given any feedback as to why you are unqualified to adopt. Qualified adopters with years and years (40) of experience with cats and dogs (some of which have been through rescues) are rejected with no reason given. Im abandoning and going to rescue a dog in need from a shelter where I can meet the dog and not have to prove myself to anyone. There are lots of dogs needing rescuing, Im going elsewhere. read more

Stay away from this "rescue" unless you are willing to have be treated like trash! I heard about Tiny and Tall from a friend of my daughter who adopted a dog from them. We saw a Labrador on their website, sent in the application, were "approved" and set up a "meet and greet". We are 5 hours south of St Charles, Illinois (where we were told they are based) so we arranged to stay there the weekend of the meeting. The story I was told was that "Applejack" was rescued from an Amish breeding operation (after reading the other reviews I now wonder about its veracity). The meeting went fine and I told "Jennifer", the foster mom, my husband and I would discuss it and get back to her. We decided to adopt and called the her back. She was very positive and seemed happy to have us have the dog. Since we were so far away and haven't had a dog recently, I asked to come back to get Applejack the next weekend so we could get our home ready and buy some things for her. The foster mom said the rescue didn't normally do this but she would check and called me back to say it was ok but we would have to pay a boarding fee. We agreed and set July 22 as the pickup date. The foster mom had brought a man called "Zack" to the meeting and when I had a few more questions, "Jennifer" asked me to talk to him. We had a telephone call on July 20 and discussed not only Applejack but animal care and training in general. I had voiced a minor concern about the dog's growling at another dog about 10 yards away (lady just walking a dog with no reaction from her dog). I am a licensed vet technician who has bred, owned and trained dogs, interacted with them at work, volunteered at 3 dog shelters, and have my own pet sitting business. I believe in positive reinforcement training but also that any negative behavior (however small) should be corrected. "Zack" asked me what I would have done and I said I would have blocked the dog's view of the other dog, said "no", let the dog see the other dog again and if there was no growling reward the dog with praise and a treat. I also asked about vaccination records because I wanted to register her with out professional dog trainer for an evaluation sometime in the future. Evidently these points spelled doom for our adoption. I got a call from "Jennifer" the next day and we agreed on a time for the pickup. Less than 2 hours later as we had packed up and were leaving, she called back and told we were not getting Applejack because she developed a "gut feeling" we were not a good home. Evidently "Zack" had informed her about our conversation and now we were not going to get the dog because of things he said about what I said. Her comments revealed that "Zack" had twisted my comments into a scenario where we were going to inappropriately correct the dog and immediately drag her to a trainer. I tried in vain to correct this but she was unmoved. I was very upset and ended the call after thanking her for caring for Applejack. So we had to upend our plans, are stuck with $400 of dog stuff we don't need and I lost a $100 reservation deposit for a vet conference I cancelled so we could both be home for 3 months to help Applejack adjust to living with us. We have owned Labs and understand the demands of a traumatized dog and were willing to do whatever it took to give Applejack a good forever home. So beware! Read the other reviews! read more

This rescue makes it very difficult for well qualified adopters. The process is so painful, imo people are likely to move on to other dogs or breeders. Rescues like this drive people away from adopting. read more

I NEVER wrote a negative review about a business. In fact, it's taken me years to share my story online. This review is about TNT's practices, ability to fabricate sob stories about dogs they're trying to promote, and lack of remorse towards defaming families that need to re-home their dogs due to extenuating circumstances. Some background - my mom & I provided a caring home for handful of dogs since my childhood. Our most recent dog, a beautiful St. Bernard Timmy, had our full hearts and was truly one of the best things that has ever happened to us. In 2017, we fell on hard financial times and got evicted from our home. My mom & I spent every penny we had for a hotel for us to stay & Timmy's boarding at his vet in Hinsdale, where we knew the staff loved him. Every week, we'd visit Timmy (in tears), bring him his favorite food, and spend time with him. Tragically, we could no longer afford to board him, and we felt uncomfortable dropping him off at a random shelter- only directly to a comfortable, loving home. To our relief, one of the vet's staff members told us her cousin (Carly) wanted to take him. The day we dropped Timmy off at Carly's home was one of the hardest days of our lives. Our only sliver of optimism came from Carly's reassurance that her intention was to give Timmy a caring home indefinitely. Before I left, Carly briefly mentioned her involvement in Tiny N Tall and asked that I signed TNT agreement papers in the "off chance" they needed to re-home Timmy, but "don't worry, we don't foresee this happening". I was distraught this whole day & not in a clear state of mind, so I signed them (which in retrospect was a mistake). We were assured that this would be a last resort if he didn't get along with the other dogs in Carly's home. I'd often text Carly to check in on Timmy and see how he's doing. We missed him so much, but we were happy that he was in a caring home. This did not last long. Just 2 weeks later, I decided to Google Tiny N Tall, as I've never heard of the rescue until Carly had me sign the papers. I came across social media posts that were advertising "Bruno" (aka Timmy) with his photo. I was shocked, as everything seemed to be going well at Carly's and giving him to a shelter was EXACTLY what we were trying to avoid. I asked Carly if there was anything wrong, and she said no. At first, we were confused as to why they were giving him away without giving him a chance, but we soon saw that we were blatantly misled, and the intention was ALWAYS to give him away through TNT, or else I wouldn't have been asked to sign those papers upon dropping him off. The WORST is - the social posts said that "Bruno" came from a family who went on a nice/long vacation the whole summer, dropped him off, and "decided [we] didn't want him anymore", which Carly & others involved knew was a TOTAL lie... if we couldn't afford housing, how can we afford vacation? If we were on vacation the whole summer, how were we visiting the animal hospital every week? Where did this come from?! We were heartbroken reading all the comments saying, "I hope this family never owns a dog again", and seeing Missy (founder) liking the comments, knowing this story was made up. I got Missy on the phone, asked why this was shared, and tried to level with her. I was met with silence and a TOTAL lack of empathy & remorse. I kindly asked for her to at least edit the post. She said, "well, you just weren't painted in a good light" (how?!), proceeded to "like" negative comments on the Facebook post, and blocked me on the TNT FB, though I NEVER attempted to interact with her/staff or the page on socials. Eventually, the "vacation" part was removed (the least they could do...). I just pray that Timmy is in a loving home. It's not in my character to publicly share negative comments about a small biz. It just infuriates me that some folks behind TNT can be so heartless, when they should be the MOST empathetic in situations like this. Lie about dogs ages, breeds, medical histories, etc. God forbid you find out something not disclosed, they don't care nor will take accountability. Organization that's non profit to shelter animals is a hypocrite and unprofessional organization. I came to adopt a puppy from them and have an existing dog at home.after a round of phone interviews, 3 days past and I received a call from the owner, Missy who was fostering the puppy. She answered my questions and when I asked for a puppy date so the two dogs meet, she said ok and Ill bring her stuff and she can stay. I was shocked they so quickly put two dogs together Not knowing if they will get a long. Missy was nice, she had a LOT going on in her personal life from what she told me and was hasty to get this dog adopted. So with feeling the pressure as she said she did not have time to come back for the dogs to meet after the initial drop off, I agreed to a meeting. She had another issue and ended up sending her husband to drop off the dog. My existing dog is a rescue and has special needs and she started to shake and was scared. 24 hours later, I texted Missy letting her know the dogs do not get along and I can't put them in a room together. She had her copartner Nicollete speed to my house and pick up the puppy. After talking to other shelters, I was told that it is never ok to place a dog in a home with another dog without at least two meetings. And thats that reason there is a grace period on your money. Nicollete is very rude and abrupt and agressive. She knocked and literally took the puppy out of my hands with no decency to ask what happened or how the dogs are and sped off. I texted Missy and asked if, due to the hastiness of dropping of a puppy without seeing them play, and having the dog for 24 hours, if she could refund me all or a portion of my funds and asked to let me know either way. My messages, Ironically, did not go through. I was Blocked! If she responded as a professional and no matter the answer, I would have been fine, however she blocked me and thats after 1 text asking for them to work with me. I paid $500 for the dog! So, I disputed it with my cc and immediately get a text from Nicollina stating that their lawyer will handle this because I signed a contract and that I could not care for the dog for it's life. It wasn't a matter of not being able to commit to the dog for the rest of its life. But rather the puppy stressed my current dog out to the point of constant shaking other than when the puppy was sleeping. So my first commitment and priority was The dog I have!! So indeed they are the hypocrites!!! This organization is complete rubbish. They do not make sure that when they are placing a dog in a home that they meet. How can you say you are a shelter "better than the others" and not care about the other animals impacted. They just care about money and are unprofessional. I am more worried at how this organization is run and the harm it brings to the animals because they obviously care about their pockets more. read more

Tiny n Tall was one of the rescues I worked with while trying to find a pup that fit our family. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff/volunteers at Tiny n Tall: they were very communicative, responsive, and unbelievably thorough! It was clear that they have the best interest of their dogs in mind when looking for homes. They were very clear about the adoption process and requirements, and as I fulfilled each requirement, another staff member was quick to contact us for the next step. They truly worked like a well-oiled machine. I not only spoke to a few staff on the phone, but my family and I went to an adoption event in person and met them as well. EVERYONE AND the dogs were so nice!!! When I asked if certain dogs were "kid friendly" before letting my toddler approach, I was told that all of them were... and they were! My toddler enjoyed petting small dogs (sweet Percy!!!) and big ones (loveable JJ)! We were interviewed as one of 4 possible families for the dog we applied to adopt. I'm happy that she found a loving home that fit her. And even through this process, I received 2 emails from Tiny n Tall - one informing me that we were not chosen, and the other about continuing the process. I also want to state that our interviewer (Marilyn) was great in suggesting what breed/mix might best fit my family. She thought a Great Pyrenees fit our profile. I appreciate the suggestion and knowledge that Marilyn imparted on us. To sum, I recommend Tiny n Tall if you are looking for your new fur-ever dog! Happy tails! read more

Awful experience. The dog we adopted attacked and bit our resident dog, in front of my kids. Tiny N Tall acknowledged that there had been a similar incident with the previous adopting family but assured us it was not the adopted dog's fault. Obviously not true. They accepted no responsibility, laid the blame on me and refused to return any of my money. They will be all nice to you until there's a problem, at which point they will wash their hands of any responsibility and accuse you of being incompetent. Do not trust them. read more

I submitted an application online. Rec'd a popup box after submitting the application that said it had been successfully submitted. The group wanted a $20 application fee, which I paid, altho in all my years of adopting senior dogs (I'm 69), I've never been charged a fee to submit an application. As requested, I put a notation right in the remarks section for the donation that the $20 was for the adoption application. Heard nothing. They posted to facebook, begging for adopters. So I responded, telling them I had heard nothing back from them. They replied, telling me that they had rec'd the $20 but had not rec'd any application from me. So do the dogs they purport to have available actually exist? Or is this an easy way to get $20 by "losing" applications? Even tho they state the fee is non-refundable, they also state that it's for the service of working with my application, so I'm sure that if I went to small claims court, I could get my $20 returned, but is it worth it for $20? What it DOES mean is that I'll never pay another application fee to a group that I know absolutely nothing about. read more
