Worst dealership I have ever dealt with, sales manager lowered the trade-in value of my car and smirked and laughed at my questioning such a move (*30 percent down) then I talked to the general manager, he was no better. Both were snots.....I give the dealership a zero rating, when compared to the dozen or so dealerships I have purchased cars at in my lifetime. Contract Breach, Pressure Tactics, and No Refund -- Avoid This Dealership I ordered a 2025 Toyota Crown Signia from this dealership on January 18, 2025, with a $1,000 deposit. At the time of booking, I was told the car would arrive in about 2 months. However, the vehicle did not arrive until May 31 -- a delay of over 130 days, far exceeding both their verbal estimate and the 3-month delivery limit clearly stated in the contract. Per the contract, if the dealer is unable to deliver the vehicle within 3 months, I had the right to cancel and receive a refund of my deposit. I began requesting cancellation around mid-April, but instead of honoring my legal right, the Dealer Principal, Paul Shaw, emailed me on June 5 with pressure tactics -- stating I had only 7 days to accept delivery or face potential liability for their "losses." This was especially frustrating because they knew I urgently needed a car and then tried to push me into accepting a Lexus without the complimentary packages that were included in the Crown Signia deal. It was a clear attempt to use my situation against me rather than resolve things fairly. To make matters worse, they have still not refunded my $1,000 deposit, even though the delay and cancellation were entirely due to their failure to deliver on time. This dealership broke their contract, used manipulative tactics, and withheld my money. I am sharing my experience publicly now as I have exhausted all formal channels without resolution, despite all my good faith efforts. If only I had seen the many other negative reviews before -- several customers experienced similar issues, but mine was the most extreme case of abuse of trust and power. The business is not even accredited by the BBB and has already complaints left unaswered. On January 11, 2025, I test-drove, and on January 15, I purchased a "Certified" Mazda3 GS from Ken Shaw Toyota (2336 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON M6N 1K8). The vehicle was delivered with a Safety Standards Certificate (SSC). The salesperson, Manpreet Kaur, reassured me personally that the vehicle was fully certified and safe. I trusted that expertise -- as a newcomer female unfamiliar with the mechanics -- only to discover later that the car was, in fact, sold 'as-is' and unfit with undisclosed mechanical defects. Within weeks, multiple dangerous issues surfaced. An independent inspection (requested by the MTO) confirmed the vehicle was not roadworthy and could not receive a valid SSC. Despite this, the vehicle had been advertised and sold as certified. I attempted to resolve this through all possible agencies OMVIC, MTO, Consumer Protection Ontario, my MPP's office, the Ontario Ombudsman, and legal aid. Despite acting in good faith and even requesting cancellation within 30 days, the dealership used delay tactics, threats, and blame-shifting -- never once offering a safe or legal return option. At one point, they falsely claimed I refused to return the car -- yet never provided a safe or lawful solution. Driving a dangerous, uncertified car was not an option, especially given the findings of the independent garage and the MTO's own request for inspection. Even after all of this, the dealership pressured my bank to reverse a refund request based on proof of misrepresentation. Their lawyer has since sent repeated emails that deflect responsibility and attempt to intimidate me, despite my clear efforts to resolve this through proper channels. I was clear from the start that I was a female newcomer, a first-time buyer, and not a mechanic. I relied entirely on their certification and integrity. Today, I am left unemployed, covering the storage cost of a dangerous car, while they operate without consequences and continue their business as if nothing happened. I am now preparing legal action to seek a full refund and compensation for the damage caused. This experience has been emotionally and financially devastating with no humanity or fairness. I trusted this dealership and was met with unfair treatment and discriminatory disregard for my safety and rights. OMVIC, Consumer Protection Ontario, and other agencies must take action against dealerships that abuse power and mislead vulnerable buyers -- especially newcomers and women. Buyers! Please do your research before trusting this dealership Ken Shaw Toyota with your safety, your money, or your trust. You are only an added transaction. read more

Oh hello there you dreamy car dealership, you! I usually only write restaurant reviews on here but I had such an excellent experience with this place, I kinda had to. And good service always deserves a pat on the back. (Because there's way too much bad service in this world.) Came here for an oil change - it's not my usual go-to - and what a pleasant experience. I drove right into the service bay entrance and was greeted warmly by the mechanics hanging about inside. The women at the front desk was friendly and courteous, and encouraged me to wait in the lounge area. The lounge area is immaculate - clean and bright and airy - and dun, dun, dun - they have a massage chair. What a treat to have a hot (free) beverage and a nice relaxing chair massage while you wait. It's the little things, you know?! And get this, a month later to thank me for my service, I got a card and a coupon for a few free months of Sirius. Nice touch. Will be back. read more

This is the second time I have looked at a used vehicle here. 2 years ago and just now. Same deal. Car fax clean but car has hidden unreported damage. Seems like that's all they go with. "Car fax is clean" still smashed and over priced. They are not the only dealer like this. I feel bad for people who don't know what to look for. We ordered a Prius Prime in May 2024 just as the back door recall was announced. We have been loyal to Toyota for over 30 years so we weren't concerned and would have waited for the car to eventually show up. However, the car we were driving started having mechanical issues and we decided we couldn't wait for the Prius to arrive. We contacted the dealer and explained the situation, they did offer to find another vehicle for us but we didnt want another make of Toyota and decline. The dealership cancelled our order but kept our $500 deposit. The reason, they pay their salespeople up front and the deposit could not be returned. Not sure if that is okay to use deposit money for a vehicle that hasn't arrived. Note to all car buyer, don't leave a large deposit. Ken Shaw asked for $1000 but we gave them $500. Still it's a lot to give for a couple hours of paperwork. We are no longer Toyota loyal and we will never buy a Toyota again. Shame on you Ken Shaw Toyota. read more

The car arrived a little earlier than predicted and Denis went out of his way to expedite the sale and prepare the car with all it's extras. He also spent 3 hrs with me teaching me how to use the car and it's various features that are new to me. I purchased a NEW vehicle from Ken Shaw Toyota and paid in cash. Ken Shaw Toyota did not disclose that vehicle was previously registered, and the Toyota warranty was not what was advertised. They also did not disclose there was a lien the Tacoma that I paid cash for. Had I not investigated it, I would be driving a vehicle with less warranty and with a lien on it that did not belong to me. Paul Shaw also did not discharge the lien correctly and I am stuck with someone else's history on CarFax. Paul Shaw did not offer a practical solution to resolve this situation caused by his dishonest staff. He instead tried to take back the vehicle during a time where used vehicles with low km's were selling for a premium over the retail price. Toyota Canada states they don't have a sales office in Canada so they could not assist, and I would have to work with the dealership. I asked if I could speak to someone who manages their dealerships or customer relations, and they said that is done when you complete the survey for new vehicle sales. I didn't receive a Toyota Canada survey which is required for the sale of ALL new vehicles, because my Tacoma was previously registered to someone else. Toyota makes some of the best cars and trucks in the market. They should take more interest in how consumers are being treated by their independent dealerships. I would recommend you do your research and buy your Toyota from a larger more reputable dealership. Paul Shaw and his staff took advantage of me, and they may do the same to you. If you already ordered a vehicle from Ken Shaw, check for any lien information, check to see if you have the full warranty and most important if you didn't receive an official Toyota survey start asking questions and report them to ONVIC. This dealership lacks transparency and seems to not care about customers. read more

Went in to have my vehicle painted due to a paint peeling issue with the year and paint itself. Covered by warranty luckily, I went back in 9 days later to pick it up and now I notice a clunking sound on the driver side front suspension. A coincidence really, anyways I'll be staying far away from this place. Too many red flags, Toyota should be regulating their dealerships better to help control internal issues that result in customers being driven away. read more

I took my car in for a standard service check and winter tire change. Long story short, the service desk said it would take 1 3/4 to 2 hours. I went for a walk and returned 1 hour and 20 minutes later, and saw that my car had not moved from where I parked it. I waited in their lounge (hello Covid?) until the service person let me know it was ready. Total time waiting : 4 hours. No call to explain or apologize for the delay. Never mind this "Special Financing" Gimmick from Ken Shaw.Wanted a new car but the guy who posted the "special financing " ad worked in the used car section (which is okay),when I said "oh I thought you worked with new cars" he said "oh yea I can sell you both new & used cars,let's just check on your credit" FULL STOP!!! This is the type of BS I hate going through,these guys are always willing to pull your credit and shop it around causing further damage to already bruised rating...(he even showed me how he got a guy approved with a 540 credit rating with $0 down and a bankruptcy & repossession & implies my 650 score was the same as this guys rating) ...I remember a few years ago tHis same guy kept on offering me a used only gas Camry when I insisted I wanted a Hybrid camry which he did not have.He Called and said "they get the same gas mileage" and asked why I wanted a Hybrid in the first place smh.(just because he didn't have it. Came in to look at the pre-owned lot and was given Anwar to show me a car I was interested in. At first, he was very energetic, and welcomed me to see the car, and give it a test drive. After the test drive, he asked if I were buying today/ at that moment and I said no as I still had an appointment with the new car lot with Ken Shaw Toyota, as well as other brands to consider, and to gain advice from family. Once I had said that, his total mood changed where he essentially did not want to talk to me anymore, and he was extremely passive when I began asking questions regarding pricing break down. I felt extremely disrespected by his mood change and dryness in answers as it gave me the notion that I was not of interest to him as he could not close a deal on me at that moment, though I had three valid reasons. He even pulled down his face mask at his desk in order to show me his facial expression of irritation, anger and dissatisfaction. Other dealerships did not treat me this way, including Ken Shaw's own Helder, who I do recommend in the new car department. Anwar was most likely talking to me just for the commission sale, rather than for my needs to gain information, which is not in line with Toyota's Vision and Mission statement which are: to be respected, and attract + attain customers. Though I do love the Toyota brand, I will not be recommending any of my family or friends to go to their pre-owned department due to this interaction with Anwar. read more

I bought a previously owned Toyota from Ken Shaw, A purchase I regret making. After the initial test drive I mentioned that I was interested but the car needed better tires and the brakes needed checking. The salesman assured me that the car had just been traded in and that would all be taken care of before delivery. I picked up the car late afternoon and none of the repairs were done as I had to buy new tires two months later and had the brakes done one year later. When I complained to Ken Shaw I was told that the tires and brakes met the minimum requirements for the safety check. That was not what I was promised before signing the purchase agreement. read more

So just returned from a 45-minute trek from the eastside to test drive a used vehicle from this location. I looked at the reviews of this dealership beforehand and based on the numerous 5 stars I thought that this place would be a great place to purchase my vehicle. Normally my family purchases their vehicles from Brimell Toyota but despite their advice, I thought I would give this place a shot. Unfortunately, this place did not live up to their reviews. Yesterday 2 hours before my scheduled appointment they called to reschedule me, which I understood and appreciated the advanced notice. Today 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment their salesman Bob called me to ask if I can come an hour later and called it a "courtesy call" as if he was doing me a favor by giving me a heads up that they can meet me for an already re-scheduled time. Worst yet, after rescheduling he calls me again to tell me the car that I have been looking to buy was sold 30 minutes before. The funny thing was that there were two of them posted for sale ("both recently sold earlier today"), and coincidentally there were now two later models of the same vehicle available for 5k extra that was not posted anywhere. Sounds like a good ol bait and switch to me. Well, now I've driven 45 minutes to take a look at a car that wasn't even there after being rescheduled twice. Now to be fair, there are covid-restrictions and a reduced capacity of people in the showroom. So granted let's take that into account. But for them to call me 5 minutes before my scheduled time to reschedule me an hour later and also tell me that the vehicle I've traveled to see was no longer available (as of who knows when) leads me to conclude that it is either administrative incompetence or sleazy business tactics. Regardless of the intent, both these possibilities lead me to believe that this place should be avoided at all costs. Save yourself the headache, and if you're coming from as far as I am save yourself the travel and head to Brimell Toyota if you're coming from the eastside. My family bought 2 vehicles from this location and have never dealt with the runaround that I've gone through these last couple of days. The moral of the stories kids; listen to your parents and go to a dealership they trust. read more

I don't often write reviews, but this time, they really earned it and I feel obligated to give an honest account of what has got to be the absolute worst of the WORST purchasing encounters. The numerous infractions and red flags at Ken Shaw Toyota Scion were astonishing. We did our research and came prepared knowing exactly what we wanted. What we were not prepared for, was having to deal with 4 different people representing this Toyota Scion location and having to experience such appalling customer service. The original sales person we dealt with wasn't available the next day we came back so we had the unfortunate misfortune of encountering a different one that would grace us with her abrasive and disgusting condescending attitude throughout the rest of the purchasing process. Pricing was negotiated for 2 NEW cars in SPECIFIC trims and colours, but they didn't even check stock and added the "subject to availability" stamps only right before the bill of sales were signed and the deposits were taken for both cars. Lo and behold, NEITHER of the specific trims and colours were available, so they tried to sell us one in a lower trim and different colour; while offering another one that was the correct trim and colour but was a DEMO/USED car. When we asked about availability outside the GTA/in other provinces, they said "to transport them in, it would cost an additional $1000 per car". Why would you enter into a binding contract for product that you knowingly REFUSE to fulfill? They barely budged on the price of the demo (which was close to the cost we originally negotiated for it NEW) and when a relative said no, a MANAGER walked in and had the NERVE to interject "if it's just the one car on the table then we will have to ADD $200 to its cost" (despite the fact it was for a lower trim and different colour since they refused to transport in the new cars and fulfill the original purchase agreements). The sales person actually had the audacity to say "we are doing you A FAVOUR by even offering you the demo because we normally don't release demos until they hit a certain number of kilometres" - basically giving us the take it or leave it attitude. You'll know this particular sales person is getting agitated when she flares her nostrils and this happened practically every time we asked a question. She also added that she was doing us "A FAVOUR by giving us discounts on the rust proofing" when in actuality, the negligible discount was due to the fact the finance guy initially said that there were "no additional fees to bring the cars in for rust proof checks every 2 years to maintain the 10 year warranty" - when in fact, there is a fee and it was their ERROR. Speaking of the finance guy, he was a special gem as well. On the new bill of sale, he DOUBLE CHARGED me for the new license plate fee and when I pointed out the discrepancy, he SLAMMED his pen on the table in an outburst of frustration because he had to re-do it before I would sign - 2 other family members witnessed both his deplorable conduct and this sales person's attitude. I had a companion with me the day I went to pick up the vehicle who witnessed the exchange when I asked to take the car for a quick lap around the neighbourhood - her response: "YOU CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR. UNTIL YOU GIVE ME THE CERTIFIED CHEQUE, YOU DON'T OWN THE CAR!" Absolutely unbelievable!! Only an inexperienced, disrespectful "professional" would give this type of response. So to conclude; yes, as their slogan states: they're "family run, customer driven" alright. More like driven to DRIVING CUSTOMERS AWAY. It's a sick joke that a manager had chances to right what transpired but didn't and instead went out of his way to add to the negative experience. That said, I've been doing this dealer "A FAVOUR" by telling anyone with ears how HORRIBLE my experience with this dealership was. (I should also add that some of these people are currently in the market for new vehicles as well). So, if you're looking for shady business practices and abrasive, combative, disrespectful customer service, this place is for you. Had there been such a thorough review of this place beforehand, I would've avoided it like the plague. Anyone reading this review would be doing themselves "A FAVOUR" by taking their business elsewhere. read more

Within days, I was driving that new rav4Hybrid. My previous 1997 rav4 was also from KenShaw and the decades of service is what kept that vehicle safe and road worthy. Took my car in service, and they did a good job on repairing the rust on the trunk.

Called and got an appointment for my Toyota the same day. Had my engine light on and was worried about a big bill. I was told up front about the fee for finding the code off the engine. $50, which seemed reasonable. When they inputed my car number, it popped up that there was a recall on my engine computer. The kind lady who was helping me told me that this could be my problem. It was! And much to my relief it was free!! The whole thing. The service was great. When it took longer than anticipated (half hour longer) the kind lady came and told me it was because they were putting in the computer and doing the test drive.
