I had learned about The Bee Folks years ago when visiting the Maryland Renaissance Fair. To be…read morehonest, one of favorite parts of going, besides wearing the cosplay, was to buy this local honey and support the small business. I love the fact that you could sample the different types inside the tent. I would often buy honeysticks to share at my job, always buy a jar of Killer Bee Honey, and try another flavor just because. After recently relocating to the Frederick County area, I was excited to find out that The Bee Folks is located in Mount Airy, only 20 minutes or so away! Unfortunately with COVID-19, the fair has been cancelled this year and with everyone staying in the house, I found myself without honey. I was able to easily make an online order and Lori quickly e-mailed me back to let me know my order was ready for pick up. Even though we got there early and no one was there, Lori responded to my e-mail and allowed my boyfriend to enter the store (of course with his mask on) and grab the bag. As always, the quality of this honey is amazing and I am so glad to have it again! This local business is amazing and I strongly recommend that if you are a honey lover, you will find something here that suits you!

Not very Common for a market!!…read more Everything here is exceptional. I love all the fruit, I literally just ate a peach and was so compelled to write about it. The staff, while is mostly comprised of college age hippies are knowledgeable and actually care. The whole store is very clean and the meat counter while very small screams old school home made!! The sausages looked so good I had to buy some, and after cooking them up with some onions and peppers my neighbors above me who are vegans were peeking as they chewed their grass and had to rethink their decisions on eating food that my food eats. There are fresh made sandwiches that they will press for you and give it that grilled awesomeness that only comes when your doing something special with meat and cheese and good bread pressed with 400 degrees of steel resulting in a sandwich that makes you want to light a subway franchise on fire. Now on my most recent trip, covid is rampantly knocking off people so a lot of the fun stuff has been put away. Normally they have fresh cooked food that you can box up hot and take and eat. The selection ranges from American favorites like loaf of meat and spaghetti to Indian food to soups and salads ( spinach salad is good, the dressing makes it the bomb dot com ) and fresh cookies and breads oh my. ( Public Notice: no lions or tigers ) You will spend more money per item here than Walmart. They don't have as good of a selection as Wegman's. They don't have a coupon app thingy that makes you think your saving money like everyone else. But you will feel like your saving baby seals and once you leave and start to load stuff into your vehicle a rabbit will wink at you in a attempt to say thank you. The lesson here is pay more money for food that tastes like food and not canned crap. Yes, we all like to save money, and that's noble. But there is a time to eat your extra long chili cheese coney ( much love sonic ) and there is a time to bite into a peach and feel like your a little kid again and have wonderful sweet juice roll off your chin and life is once again, is worth living. Stay hungry my friends, - JW

While I like this place for the produce, it's very expensive. Wegman's is equally good and more…read morecost conscious.

According to the website "The market is comprised of fresh produce, fresh meats, fresh milk,…read moreherbals, soaps, fresh flowers, baked goods and a sundry of items combining efforts with local small farmers to offer the community of Mt. Airy and surrounding towns, fresh, local food & hand made products"- Dropped by here this afternoon, a big plus is Sunday hours in early March. Beautiful farmland- idyllic setting in farm outbuildings. We could see some lambs in an adjacent barn and it appeared there were numerous farm animals about, my thought ran to upcoming spring and summer and how much the children would enjoy this place. The store is small and a bit cramped, but we were hit with wonderful aromas on entering- homemade herbal soaps, freshly baked cookies, pies, cobblers and pasta. A refrigerator held a variety of local cheeses, fresh eggs, farm fresh milk and cream, and a freezer held the good stuff- bacon, farm-raised beef, hot dogs, sausages, and jerky. Oh how I love jerky. Children in the market were negotiating for different flavors of frozen custard that looked great. The lovely lady at the counter explained that the owner sends farm-raised meats to the butcher, and that a family pack type order could be placed. The jerky must have been processed by a place in PA per the label- it was fabulous. Thin and dry and perfectly seasoned, I at least got it home and defrosted before I devoured it. I also picked up some summmer sausage- have not tried it yet, but the smell is tantalizing and I'm looking forward to slicing some with some of the horseradish cheddar, some crackers and something to drizzle the honey over- yes, local honey. Wow. I may just eat it out of the jar, it is that good. Not much local produce- there is none yet, but I am looking forward to stopping back by later in the season, with the children- and the camera!.

This place is going to become a family favorite for years to come!…read more I took the kids last weekend to see the lamb that were only a week old! There were chickens running around too! It was our first time at England Acres and it is absolutely beautiful farmland! We met Judy and Hannah. Hannah took us over to the barn and picked up one of the lamb and let my daughter hold him. My daughter was so excited! We headed back inside and picked up eggs, bacon, lamb, steaks, and chicken. Nothing beats grass farm fresh food that comes from a place that is right down the street and where the animals have been very well taken care of. Don't get me wrong, it's pricey, but it's worth every penny to support a local farm, for the flavor of the food, and for your health!
