One would never expect even the best attorney to know every aspect of the law. Kemble, however, in addition to his ignorance, is too arrogant to see things from any other perspective. I had a 30-minute initial consultion with Kemble set up through my employer's EAP. I explained to him the facts of my case. He proceeded to assert without justification that my understanding was wrong. When I pressed for why he thought that, even after I had cited the relevant legislation, his response effectively amounted to "it just is". He then switched tactics and asked how much was at stake. The answer I gave him wasn't satisfactory, and he told me it was a waste of his time. He then hung up after having only spent half the scheduled time. He was going to do a tax search for back taxes that my son might have owed. He said it would cost $500 and a power of attorney would need to be signed by my son. We agreed and he emailed a power of attorney for someone else - with her information and the wrong tax years. I emailed that it was the wrong POA, and why, and I didn't hear back for some time. Then he sent another one, hand written, with my son's information which my son signed and I mailed the same day. I didn't hear for a month when I received an email from him with another blank POA asking for my son to sign. I remined him that my son already had and that I'd given him my credit card number over the phone. I also said that we no longer had confidence in his office and that we did not wish to go forward with his services, nor should our card be charged. Time went by again, and I received an email from him apologizing, stating that they could not find my credit card number anywhere and it had not been charged and asked if we wanted to go forward. I again said we did not - that was a month ago. Yesterday I received a fourth POA in the mail from his office asking for my son to sign and return. I then got a second email with a $500 invoice asking me to pay. I again (all of these transactions have taken place over two months) told them we did not wish to go forward with their office because we believe they are incompetent. My bad for not asking about cost up front, his bad for charging $500 an hour working out of his home and not setting the cost expectation up front. Lesson learned. read more
