First off, let it be known if we were able to rate more than five stars we absolutely would. Mr. Negley & Negley law were a God send for my husband and I. We were referred by friends of ours who spoke extremely high of their experience with the firm. No detail is forgotten when dealing with them. Going to court is never easy. Going to court for a child custody case is difficult for all parties involved. Fortunately, I selected John Negley to be my attorney and that was the best decision I could have made. I have had sole legal and physical custody of my daughter since she's been 3 months old. She is now nearly 8 years old and several times I have been taken back to court by her mother for modification to the order. Each time John has been extremely prepared and each time no change to the order has taken place. Many have commented in their reviews of how prepared John is, how he listens to his clients concerns and especially how he performs in the courtroom. All of this is true, I have personally witnessed this firsthand and most recently 2 weeks ago at my daughter's trial were at the end the judge was to give his decision as to the parenting plan. We selected to bring in the mediator to testify as a witness. Just a few months ago he had given a recommendation to change my original orders in favor of the mother. I knew going in that this would be a difficult hurdle to overcome but I also knew that we had put together a strong case full of factual evidence in my favor and at the end of the trial the judge did not go with the mediator's recommendation and my original orders were upheld. Faced with some pretty high stakes concerning legal custody I was in search for a good lawyer that could represent me during a evidentiary hearing. I searched as far as Los Angeles in order to find representation to defend my position. After asking friends,family and associates for a referral I ran into a friend that is familiar with the local court system. She gave me a couple names but really spoke highly of John Negley. After reading all the reviews on yelp and meeting with him I decided to go with John. I was up against the wall and prior to retaining John things were not going my way so we had an uphill battle to fight. Without going into a lot of details all I will say is that the mediators recommendation was not in favor of me. If you are familiar with the family court system the judge will take the mediators recommendation almost always. Knowing this John decided to take on our case. John was very truthful and let me know that to overturn a mediators recommendation is a tough task but after explaining all the facts he said I had a case and he would do his best to bring to light all the facts for the judge to see. After meeting with John several times and giving him all the information he was able to put together a really strong case for us. When the day came for the hearing I was blown away by John's preparation and his performance inside of the court room. The way he cross examined, presented facts and was able to control the room was impressive. Our opposition brought this particular motion so naturally we would been on the defense but the way John presented our case he had opposing counsel on their heels and it appeared that they were the ones on the defensive not us. John was able to present my case in a way in which the judge was able to see the truth. In the end the Judge did not go with the mediators recommendation and I was able to maintain legal custody of my son. Absolute Incompetence. Buyer beware. Unfortunately, a review such as this is oft the only recourse consumers have. The level of sheer incompetence encountered w/ Mr. Negley and his firm is difficult to encapsulate in a limited review. The firm was slow to supply documents, often incomplete at that. Mr. Negley himself was late to our court hearing, even further he had forgot to bring all the required paperwork. Minutes in to our side-bar counseling about our case he left us to deal, apparently, with more pressing cases. He did this repeatedly throughout the day. His absolute lack of professionalism almost left me speechless. He was haphazard in his questioning of the opposition - reminiscent of someone who learned law from a reality TV show. The only outcome he succeeded in was annoying the judge, us, and earning us the absolute worst outcome we could have expected. He failed to listen to anything we tried educating him on about our case. His ego and incompetence prevented anything of value being extracted by procurement of his services and firm. And to add insult to injury, we had to pay him for it. EVERY SINGLE line item charged to us, whether it be a photo copy made or otherwise was charged at the absolute highest rate. You, the consumer of such services, have been warned. At one point, we literally thought Mr. Negley was in cahoots with the opposing party - that is how detrimental his services were. We can't change the past, but we can learn from our grievous mistakes. And our mistake was the Negley law firm. read more
