OOMMMGGG SCOTT BENTLEY IS HANDS DOWN THE BBEEESSSTTTT! Okay so Scott Bentley is a criminal defense lawyer. I found Scott in 2021 when I was facing 15 felonies for a ghost gun that was obviously not registered to me and was fully loaded. When I was arrested for this charge I had bailed out right away and then hired Scott and we went on a three to four year journey of fighting this case. Now I caught the case in Ventura which is where I am originally from however was living in Los Angeles so it was really nice because the days that I was not able to make it to Ventura Scott was totally on it and would appear on my behalf many many times pretty much most of the times. Needless to say after the couple your journey we settled in court instead of 15 felonies which keep in mind I am also an ex-felon that had priors so to get the 15 felonies down to only one felony was incredible Plus did not have to do any jail time and settled with probation. After that I was the one that kind of fucked up by relapsing in my past addiction I ended up not reporting got a violation and then caught another charge for evading in Los Angeles and ended up in prison. While I was in prison they issued a warrant from Ventura for not reporting due to my incarceration from LA. Ventura County was going to keep me one day longer than when I was supposed to be released from prison and come and pick me up and take me to Ventura County Jail however this is how amazing Scott is I had contact him at the very last second with like literally no time and Scott magically was able to get the warrant lifted and get me a court date so that way I can be released from prison the day planned and not have to be released in cuffs going to Ventura County Jail. Long story short I got out of prison stayed clean and sober showed up to court with Scott and I'm doing things legit but why Scott is such a godsend is because here it is all these years later and even after fucking up what we had worked so hard to get originally he is still here fighting for me just as hard if not harder because even though once I got out and he got the warrant lifted and I had checked into probation and all of that the probation report from the charge of the new violations from another County wanted to send me back to prison but guess what due to the fact that Scott is the man and was literally born to be the best lawyer on the planet he was able to make things happen to where I'm not sent back and I'm able to continue staying in Freedom and have another opportunity to make things right. I am forever grateful for Scott and I'm probably one of his longest ongoing problems lol however he is only all about Solutions and has never judged me ever and just continues to keep fighting for me which means the world to me. Freedom is priceless and having another opportunity at life is as well. There's not enough thank yous I could say to him to express my gratitude and appreciation. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HIRE SCOTT BENTLEY. I hate writing this review because Scott is a very kind man, but as I continue to encounter more and more financially devastating issues stemming from his complete lack of labor, I need to warn others. I retained Scott to help with my DUI case. Paid him the money in full and he went on to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with my case. He never requested the DMV hearing, never followed up with me, never returned my calls or texts or emails. IGNORED ME COMPLETELY FOR MONTHS. I had to call with different phone numbers to get him. Because he never requested my hearing, my license was suspensded for 6 months. Scott never told me that I could then apply for my license back with no restrictions after those 6 months. I found this out on my own as he continued to ignore every attempt to contact him. If I had driven and been stopped at any time for any reason by a police officer, they would have taken my car and put me in jail. I DROVE LIKE THIS FOR ALMOST A YEAR. PETRIFIED TO DRIVE ANYWHERE. Imagine driving anywhere, the hospital even, scared as hell simply because your lawyer did not tell you when you could get your license back. That was my bad too, I could have researched more, but that that's what I paid a lawyer for! By never requesting my dmv hearing, he made impossible for me to afford insurance. The point will show for 10 years on my driving record and it can not be changed, despite charges never even being filed. I was dropped from my insurance and had to get High Risk Insurance which is super expensive, when I was able to drive again. Insurance companies are refusing to cover me, except for high risk. Because of Scott, I've been having to pay hundreds (will be thousands yearly) more in insurance because the dmv requires me to prove coverage every month for the next 3 years. Dealing with a DUI and the aftermath is very stressful and confusing when you don't know what the next step should be. So you hire a lawyer to help you. That lawyer should lead and not forget to do ANY services that were part of your agreement, let alone FULLY IGNORE YOU. That was really messed up. Scott got paid and never looked at my case again. I drove horribly anxious without any license for a year because he never talked with me about my case again. This is even more depressing because I ended up never even being convicted of any DUI (the courts and the dmv are separate cases). I still have to deal with the point on my driving record for 10 years, the highly expense insurance rates, and just the overall horrible, panic inducing experience. Title: Utter lack of communication and preparation cost me my civil rights I hired Scott Bentley of Bentley Law to represent me at the Ventura County Courthouse in a high-stakes matter involving a lifetime restraining order. Because of his complete lack of preparation and communication, I was left entirely unprotected. In the critical days leading up to my court date in Ventura, I tried repeatedly to contact him to discuss our legal strategy. He completely ignored my attempts to get a hold of him, finally calling me back only minutes before we had to walk into the courtroom. When I later asked why he had abandoned communication during such a crucial window, he told me he was at a ball game with his kids. Because Mr. Bentley refused to speak with me before the hearing, he failed to present a critical, viable legal option to the judge. The opposing party openly stated on the record that she did not want to punish me and only wanted to ensure a stay-away boundary. We could have easily negotiated a modified stipulation or civil harassment agreement that kept a basic stay-away order intact without triggering a permanent, life-altering lifetime restraining order. Mr. Bentley knew I had no desire to contact her, but he failed to advocate for the modified options that would protect my record. As a direct result of his failure to prepare or communicate, a lifetime restraining order was granted. This has permanently upended my life, stripped me of my constitutional rights, severely impacted my housing options, and damaged my standing in my church and social community. To make matters worse, he continually strung me along afterward, assuring me that the "time between would benefit me," which ultimately caused me to miss the legal deadlines to appeal the judgment.
