Kelvingrove Park is one of the reasons why I love living in the West End. This majestic sprawl of greenery is so enticing on beautiful sunny Glasgow days, which can be quite rare through the year. Spread over 85 lush acres, Kelvingrove Park offers a little something for everyone, from a croquet green, tennis courts, riverside walks, and even a skateboard park! Throughout the year, Kelvingrove plays host to a variety of events including the GSA annual soap box race, Glasgow Mela, concerts, Sno!zone, and various walks and cycling races. There are beautiful statues and a grand fountain. On sunny days, you'll find hordes of locals stripping down, laying out and BBQing on the grassy knolls. I normally find myself in the park for a casual stroll coupled with some people watching and dogling (no, not "dogging" - "DOGLING"). If it's not for leisure, then I'm also in the park doing a real kick-ass workout with our trainer Calum. Kelvingrove Park is just the picturesque setting for pretty much any leisure or sports activities.
Bottom line: It's a sweet green escape within the confines of a major Scottish city. With all of its amenities and lush green grass, you ought to be deemed insane for not loving this place! I'm personally wary of wandering around here after dark because you never know what will pop out of the bushes... a group of neds hopped-up on White Lighting cider or buckfast? Maybe, maybe?? Nuff said. read more
