My guy and I have taken many walks down to this park and I've loved it every single time. we've never been along while there's anything going on to speak of, but it's a really nice park to just wander through for some fresh air. I was a bit under the weather but couldn't take another day of feeling sorry for myself, so the two of us laced up and went for a walk (that's all I could bare to manage at the time). It's a pretty huge park with a nice duck pond, that even with the falling temps, still have cute wee ducks swimming about. There's also an area where poets are listed and memorialized by plaques. Anyone who knows me knows how daft I am over dogs, so it's really a nice place to see all the wee dogs running about (on leads or not). We managed to see loads of puppies on the day we went which sent my heart a flutter. I've already suggested we go back once it gets warmer for a wee picnic, as the park is a lot bigger than a lot of the other parks I've been to and we're bound to find some grass to plop down on. I can't wait!

I love Queens Park. It's right on my doorstep and it's great anytime of year. It has 2 ponds, tennis courts, bowling green, recently renovated bandstand, 2 play areas for kids and the Glasshouse, which contains a pretty wide array of tropical animals and plants. It's a well maintained park which gets a lot of use from dog walkers and runners, not to mention families. Check out the cafe in the Glasshouse!

I adore this park! Before moving to Glasgow I took a walk through Queen's Park and I know the south side was where I wanted to be, how could you beat having this on your door step? The park has loads of nice spots, from the ponds which are filled with loads of wildlife to the flag pole with its amazing views over the city. A personal favourite is the Glasshouse, filled with reptiles and cacti! It also has a cafe and kids play area, so it's a good place for a wee rest after wandering Around the park. It's easy to loose hours in this place or just to wander through on your way somewhere. If I have time I'll always walk the long way to Victoria Road or Shawlands just to spend time in the park. It's great that Glasgow's parks are unkept as well as they are, everyone loves a bit of greenery around the city. Even if you're not local to this park, it's worth a visit and there's plenty of delicious eateries in the surrounding streets. Make a day of it!

As someone who grew up in the West End, I was led to believe trips to the Southside of the city required passports, custom forms and emotional goodbyes. However, only once you stand at the flagpole at the city's Queen's Park do you realise how ridiculous this is. Glasgow is a small city and from here, you appreciate just how small as the spectacular city line view shows Glasgow University situated just under three miles away. It's a travesty therefore that it took me so long to venture to this park, which represents every bit as pleasant an area to stroll in as its West End equivalents. With facilities such as tennis courts, bowling greens, a skate park and a cafe, it has something for everyone, although undoubtedly the highlight are the 360 degree views offered at the summit, officially the highest point in Glasgow. Stunning.

With Glasgow zoo disappearing many moons ago, this is one of the few places to see exotic wildlife en masse in the city. Situated in Queen's Park, the Glasshouse is home to a collection of diverse creatures such as snakes, lizards (including a couple of huge iguanas), tarantulas, turtles, some mammals, and the revolting but fascinating giant land snails, possibly the slimiest things in existence. It's not huge and you can get round it all within a half hour, but a charming and educational experience nonetheless.

Some beautiful images from my wander.

Beautiful park. Great walk about, just a little doom and gloom with what's been going on within it recently. As a photographer I found plenty of capture moments throughout the whole park. Still a beautiful place even with all the bad press

    Review Highlights - Queens Park

At the top of Queen's Park, as I searched for Pokemon, I discovered the Glasshouse which was not only a Pokestop.

This beautiful park is a huge favourite with director Danny Boyle with scenes from "Shallow Grave"…read moreand "Trainspotting" filmed here. For me, Rouken Glen is also very special, it's where I used to feed the ducks when I was little, I learned how to ride my Bluebird bike here, I enjoyed eating ice-creams here with my family in summer and making a wish by throwing pennies into the waterfall with my dad. Rouken Glen is a beautiful park and there is so much to do here, especially if you have a young family. If you're a nature lover then it's great to come here for a walk and listen to the birds tweeting. When I came here last summer I was glad to see that it's still as popular as ever, we even took the paddle boats out and I enjoyed being captain for the day as G-Bot is useless at rowing. I also took a lot of flyers from the park rangers office, that encouraged people to be more environmental and bring out the hippie in you. This year I plan to take part in some of the activities in these flyers, such as going on an ancient tree hunt, joining the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, taking part in National Insect Week by going on a bug hunt, who knows I might even find Bugtropolis. What better place to do all of these things than at Rouken Glen? If all that nature tires you out then there's a little cafe beside the pond to sit and recharge your batteries.

Facilities wise, there's a couple of adventure playgrounds, a large equestrian centre, and a golf course, which in all honesty isn't very much for a park of this size, but it's main attraction is the woodland walks. There are large chunks of forest in the park, waterfalls and a good few picturesque little bridges over the river, so it's a very relaxing and peaceful place for a stroll. We got caught in a thunderstorm on our last visit here which is probably a negative but it did provide a bit of excitement. There's also an old mansion in the park which was derelict and thus wonderfully spooky until recently, but it's since been done up and turned into admittedly impressive houses. The Snuff Mill Bridge walkway just at the edge of the park is in my opinion one of the nicest spots in Glasgow. Hardly anyone has heard of it yet I was quite taken aback when I first stumbled upon it. On a nice day it can genuinely feel like you're in a quaint little English village, there's even old Victorian-style street lighting.

I tend to make the pilgrimage during the summer- when I can find someone with a car to carry the picnic stuff- and sit out in the open field for a lovely, restful afternoon. The lack of facilities is what has made it so peaceful- the golf course, I am glad to say, is under-nourished.

I guess I'm spoiled by Rouken Glen, but Newlands is just as lovely and well worth a visit. It's quite small but really lovely, a bit of a hidden oasis off Kilmarnock Road. I was there to visit the new Dandelion Cafe at the tennis court pavilion (check out my review for that separately) but took the chance after eating to have a bit of a wander. This park is a lovely spot for dog walking, running, walking, cycling and general meandering. There's a small pond, a kids playground and generally, seems like a really lovely place to spend some time. I'll definitely be back again soon.

For a park that small, there is a lot going for it: it's got a great cafe in the Dandelion Cafe, a good amount of open space for letting your wee dog run free, a couple of tennis courts, a play park, and a small pond. It's a dog walkers paradise, and is great if you want to chill out from the hustle and bustle of Shawlands. While it definitely isn't as big as Rouken Glen, it has a hell of a lot going for it. The Dandelion Cafe is well worth a visit in itself (another review hopefully on the way!), and you'll really enjoy a wander to walk off your cake!
