The potatoes had a perfect spice level, coming from someone who does not care for spicy food. The ingredients tasted fresh and clean. I also got the Earl Gray tea- it is delicious. Every employee we interacted with was helpful, pleasant, and gracious- lovely! There is ample seating, some more cozy spots, which I prefer. Really cute decor. Clean. Prompt removal of dishes. I can't wait to come back! Re: sharing these dishes, I don't exactly recommend this, the portions aren't huge. They have a good sized menu as well consisting of apps, salads, bowls, entrees and wraps. Of course, they are family friendly and offer kids meals too. I chose the steak entree since it comes with 2 sides of my choice as opposed to the braised beef which just comes with rice and beans....for the same price. I read they are known for their olive oil lemon cake, if there is such as things as a healthy dessert. I was very impressed with the meal and it seemed to be a pretty healthy choice at such a good price point. The steak was real slices of lean steak that actually tastes like a steak and not rubber. Fruit cup was very fresh and way better than any I've had at other restaurants lately. I wasn't a big fan of their teas, but they're gonna take some getting used to. The olive oil cake was tasty just a little smaller than I had imagined.

1-Star Review: Absolute Disaster - Never Returning to True (False) Food Kitchen…read more We had one of the worst dining experiences imaginable at True Food Kitchen. We ordered our food, and it simply never came. After a long wait, our Brazilian waitress kept stringing us along with repeated false updates about how soon it would be ready. She left us hanging the entire time with zero accountability. What made it even more infuriating was the staffing situation. There were visibly more servers and kitchen staff than actual customers in the restaurant. Yet somehow, nothing was getting done. We watched plates of other customers' food sitting in the pass window for over 10 minutes while seven different servers casually walked right by, letting it sit there getting stale and old. Our server in particular seemed completely disinterested in doing her job--she had zero urgency or care for our table. The cavalier, neglectful attitude from the entire team felt like a systemic problem, not just one bad shift. It was as if the restaurant's "healthy, mindful" branding was just a front for pretentious, ill-mannered service that couldn't care less about actually delivering on basics like getting food to the table. We finally flagged down the manager, who at least gave us straight information: our order would still be another 10 minutes on top of the already excessive wait. At that point, we'd had enough and left without eating. This place is a nest of neglectful incompetence. Between the false promises, indifferent staff, and total disregard for customers, we will never patronize True Food Kitchen again. Save your time and money--go somewhere that actually values service.

Highly recommend their California Burrito (steak, fries, guac) and Surf 'N Turf (steak, garlic shrimp, garlic rice). I normally don't eat much steak/red meat, but I always cave here because of how tender and flavorful their steak is (and all of their proteins too, tbh). Definitely get a side of garlic sauce and elote, they are some of the best I've tried in Houston. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Food: 5+++/5 - Service: 5/5

We were approached by a young lady who appeared to be working solo. Nevertheless, she was nice and welcoming. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese burrito, and an Al pastor burrito with rice, beans and cheese. The burritos were ginormous and unfortunately I could only eat half. Although the quantity was appealing, I personally think more attention needs to go to the quality of the ingredients. The el pastor just seemed to be of poor quality and lacked flavor. We also ordered chips and cheese which the cheese was super thick and also poor quality. Service was good despite the young lady working solo. Food quality could use some help.

I do not like most mushrooms and didnt know this before coming but I still liked the coffee, as it seemed a little less heavy than traditional coffee for some reason. They have a decent food selection consisting of pastries and house-made latin/american dishes ranging from homemade chips and guacamole to Chilequiles. Note that all food is either vegetarian or vegan. The theme of the place is artisenal Latin/Mexican. If you dine in, you will receive your cold drink in a tall ceramic mug/cup most likely in an Aztec/Mexican style, while the hot drinks will be served in a mug and the food is served on festive plates. They play light Latin music in the background. They don't really advertise their syrups if you come in for an iced latte like me, but basically any of their artisanal coffees can be made iced or cold and you can choose from any of those ingredients/syrups in those choices to flavor your own custom latte. I also added a slice of banana bread from the pastry case adjacent to the register. The alchemist - a pretty light tasting latte with obvious notes of cinnamon. I liked it. Banana bread - more like a triple slice of bread. Its gluten free and very dense. A little on the dry side, obviously. Overall, I can see why they're highly rated. A must visit if you want to try some of the best coffee woodlands has to offer.

The moment I walked through the door, the smell alone had me questioning why I hadn't ordered anything for myself. I walked up to the counter, gave them the name on the order, and boom the food was in my hands. I truly appreciate a restaurant that respects to-go times, and they absolutely nailed it. While exiting, I noticed they also offer a lunch buffet from 11-2:30 which immediately caught my attention for a future visit. Now comes the dangerous part. The kids opened their containers of butter chicken with rice and spicy aloo, and my mouth instantly started watering. The portions were generous, and I found myself asking the same question over and over...**Why didn't I order anything?!** Curiosity officially got the best of me, so yes... I stole a bite. Actually... maybe two. The butter chicken was incredibly flavorful with a rich, creamy sauce that had me wishing there was another container with my name on it. But the real surprise for me was the spicy aloo. I'd never had potatoes prepared quite like that before, and they completely stole the show. I wanted that entire side for myself. Needless to say, next time I'm not just picking up food for the family I'm ordering my own meal too. This visit was more than enough to convince me I'll be back to explore the rest of the menu.
