I bought a lens and paid for fast 2-day shipping, knowing I would not be home on Wednesday (8.20). The website said the delivery would arrive by 8.19 (the order was placed on 8.17 - so a Sunday). Then I received an email from Fedex saying that the delivery would of course be Wednesday. I called to ask why the discrepancy and they explained that since they're closed on Sundays the shipment only leave Monday so that falls into the 2 day delivery parameters. I explained that I only did that because their website advertised delivery by 8/19 otherwise I would NOT have paid extra to receive a thing late! When I dared ask for the shipping charges to be refunded they told me it's an IT problem and just made me speak with different people that told me the same thing. I find the overall behavior offensive since it was clearly advertised (and will still be if you buy on Sunday) that that days is included in the 2-day shipping. I want to hope that it's just a random error and not a malpractice on their side to include Sunday as working day instead of removing it. Regardless of the quality of the product, I would not recommend buying from KEH because paying for a "premium service" actually equals to receiving a sub-standard service and paying more than normal. read more

KEH is camera-speak for BS. I sold KEH a nearly new Ricoh GR III, a camera that is much in demand--plus assorted other gear they wanted. Now--seven weeks later--I am still awaiting a check from them in payment. When I call KEH customer service, I get a runaround, always a different excuse for when the check will arrive, and then why the check hasn't arrived, and then when it will be reissued Every call to them means waiting on hold and listening to mind numbing pitches for how great the company is. I have bought from KEH, but selling them anything is absurd. I will never ever deal with them again. read more

Sold some Nikon gear to KEH. Quickly evaluated gear and made very good offer. I tried to request payment by Paypal, but apparently that option is not currently working. Error message said "...unable to process...try again later..." I tried again later...several times. But each time got the same error message. I ended up opting for a check in the mail. Keh was an amazing company in the past but in the last few years things have changed. I received a lens rated EX++ with a scratch on the front element (are their expert technicians looking at the lenses?). I then received a second lens that was the wrong model and didn't even match their photograph on the website. Their customer service was not empathetic and just told me to return the items. Definitely will not be using KEH again. I ended up purchasing my lenses through ebay and got the lenses shipped faster from Japan, in better condition, and for a better price. read more

I wanted a lens that was inexpensive for my Nikon D300 in my "car kit". I bought a Nikon 18-140 VR to fill that need. Turns out I likes it so much I put the Nikon 18-200 VR I already have on the D300. The first version of the Nikcon 18-200 VR has so much lens creep makes ya wanna hurl, never did love it. I still don't love the lens creep but it makes decent images. I was surprised how well the 18-140 works, after all it's a kit lens or was back in the day. Different strokes for different palookas I guess. This all comes back to; "Perspective". Here is my perspective about KEH: I have bought and sold camera gear with them. I don't ever feel like anything I purchased was misrepresented. Sure if ya sells something yas always wants top moolah for it. Doesn't mean you will get it. Yas can try craigslist or ebay or something similar, meet up with someone you don't know and take on that risk if ya like. Hope it's not one of the Johnson brothers. If these mugs make you an offer, take it or leave it. Don't behave like some dumb bunny if you don't like their offer. They'll send your stuff back to you if yas like. They are in business to make a profit. If you accept their offer quit cher belly aching and move along. No one forced you ta sell it. I am happy KEH is in business. Gives me a chance to try gear I figure I might like for a reasonable price. Especially in this economy. Lotta the hype about photography gear is just that .. "hype". I purchased a **LIKE NEW** lens from KEH on 12/7, expecting it to be in working condition. However, less than an hour after it arrived, I tested it on three different camera bodies, and it didn't focus on any of them. I immediately called to report the issue and was told to ship it back using their provided FedEx label and RA number, which I did the very next day. During that call, they asked if I wanted a refund and I confirmed that. On 12/10, I called back to discuss the situation, expressing concerns about their testing process and the lack of "fragile" labels on the FedEx box. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, the customer service representative spoke to me in a condescending manner, suggesting I should "just buy new" because of "my luck." This was incredibly disrespectful, especially given that people save their hard-earned money for equipment like this. Being berated by customer service when I was already dealing with the frustration of receiving a faulty product was unacceptable. To make matters worse, this ordeal has affected my income. I've missed work opportunities because I couldn't use this lens, and I couldn't afford to purchase a replacement since KEH still had my money. On 12/17, I followed up after being told the director would call me back (which never happened). When I finally reached someone claiming to be the director, she assured me that she would process my refund that day, and I'd see it in 3-5 business days. On 12/23, after no refund appeared, I called again and was told by yet another representative that KEH doesn't even have a director. They also informed me that the refund process was only just initiated because they needed to test the lens first--something no one mentioned during my earlier calls. This back-and-forth has been exhausting, and every person I spoke with had a different story. The lack of accountability and professionalism is appalling. KEH has shown no urgency in resolving this situation or acknowledging the inconvenience they've caused. Customers deserve better than the runaround, especially when these issues directly impact their livelihoods. This experience has shown me that KEH is just another corporate entity more interested in their bottom line than in doing right by their customers. I would caution anyone considering buying from KEH to think twice. My trust in them is completely shattered, and I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I've been sitting on my previous generation Sony Alpha camera for about a year now and was not sure what to do with it. Read a few articles about selling used equipment and they all recommended KEH. I must say I was very nervous going into this; it's an expensive camera and just sending it off in the mail seemed dubious. However, KEH made it so simple! I placed an order for a Canon R5 Mark II, the one was shipped via Fedex requiring a signature. On Monday March 17th the camera was supposed to be delivered with a driver named Jakob, the one who falsely signed and misspelling my name and let a $4,707.41 camera God knows where. I contacted fedex and Keh costumer services right away to inform about the situation. A week later a received an email from Keh basically saying, well sorry! Fedex says they contacted the driver and said he handed to and signed by a woman who appeared to be of Spanish descent, with medium-length brown hair. I DO NOT HAVE BROWN HAIR and he is lying saving his job. KEH is like reported to your homeowners insurance without more information. Not an investigation from their part, requiring a photo or something. I submitted A police report immediately. This is the WORST experience ever. Not a single extra way of securing or helping. I've been buying and recommending KEH since I started photography many times to buy my equipment and this is beyond frustrating. read more

Decent gear selection and despite having some new equipment they don't carry everything. Used gear is generally correctly described except for my last order. Service is ok, very business like but this is where it changes. I purchased a Viltrox 33mm f/1.4 for Nikon Z. When I received it it seemed in like new condition except for the fact that my Nikon Z50 camera body could not detect the aperture or shutter so basically they sold me a brick. I found a firmware update which fixed the problem, after testing the lens again it did not perform as described by multiple online reviews so I requested a return. They now are charging $25 to return it and I have to pay shipping, despite the fact they obviously hadn't actually tested it before sending out. Last year I spent $2k on camera gear with KEH, one might take this into consideration. Pretty pathetic. read more

My wife and I purchased a lens from KEH back in February 2023 for just over $950 with a $50 discount they provided if you signed up for their newsletter. Aesthetically the lens was in worse shape than we originally thought or was described on their website, but we weren't really interested in looks anyway, we just wanted a decent lens for sports shots at night and thought this was it. The lens never performed that well and we gave up trying to use it. So, we thought we would sell it back to KEH and maybe trade it in on a different lens. We setup a call with them in August 2023 and I was offered around $576, which was far lower than we paid for it, but I figured they had to eat the cost until they could resell it so while not the best offer I had hoped for, we would settle for it. After they received the lens I received a final quote of $356 which is about 30% of the original price we paid. I reached back out to them and when I asked why we were given such a low price on the lens that we only had for 6 months, the response was: "Unfortunately that's not a lens that sells well for us, so the margins on it are fairly low." They had no problem making their margins up when we bought it, so I'm not sure what they were talking about. I responded again with my original receipt of what we paid and never got a response back. We reluctantly decided to take the offer and would not be doing business with them again. I just looked on their site and they have several of same lenses in stock that they said, "the margins were fairly low", and they are priced at approx. $1,300 - $1,400. How do you tell someone the margins are too low to offer you a decent price and but you can increase the selling price by $400 - $500?! Never again KEH, never again. read more

This the second time I have sold a lot of gear to KEH. This time, the online quote was much higher than i actually received, which was disappointing. One item was my fault, I missed mold in a lens. But some of the other lenses that were actually new and unused, were downgraded to Excellent from like new minus. Any imperfection inside those lenses is the way they came from Nikon new. They have become too strict in my opinion on what is mint condition. If you want to make sure the online quote is accurate, be aware almost nothing is like new minus to them, and grade your stuff accordingly to see whether it is worth even sending it into them. You can probably make a lot more by selling on ebay, but with the added headache . read more

I heard so many good things about KEH so when I had a lens to sell I decided to go with KEH. It has been 13 business days since they told me "It's Pay Day". Still no payment in the mail. That is poor business and I would never buy or sell equipment with them in the future. I have a few items that I want to try out before I buy but I will find somewhere else to go. While the difference was not substantial, it was frustrating to not be able to see what the final inspection saw and quoted vs what was quoted on line. I was happy to find KEH camera while doing an online search. I had some camera equipment I was no longer using, so I sent them a list of items. If you want easy, selling online is the way to go. If you want the most money for your gear, other options may be better. They responded with a quote and an option to print a shipping label if I accepted the quote. This may be a good company to buy from but leaves a lot to be desired when selling. The one word to describe them is "careless". They could care less about answering your questions. It seems like they want you to go away and leave them alone. It took repeated requests to get an answer to my question of why the check was 1/3rd less than the initial offer. They said the lens was damaged, which is ridiculous. I had taken tens of thousands of photos with that lens and was selling it only because I upgraded to a full-frame camera. When you mail your camera in, there is hardly any feedback (reference number and specific information). They were very slow at evaluating a lens and without telling me why, dropped their bid by 1/3rd. I would ask questions of support over and over and had to highlight the question for them to notice. They would answer at most one question per email. I was told August 9th that a check was on the way. The postage machine shows that they stamped it on August 20th and the post office stamped it a day later. It seemed like they were waiting to write the check until they had enough money in their checking account. Not at all a good experience. read more

Ordered a Canon 100-500mm lens in used but labeled as EXCELLENT condition and it came in broken. I had ordered this lens as an upgrade thinking I had found a good price on a used lens but that was not the case. The box looked to have no damage and the lens was wrapped well in packaging so I do not believe that there were any shipping issues, fault on my part is I did not open the box for about 2 weeks due to having an injury and no use for the lens for the time being. Upon opening I noticed the lens hood ring had a small crack in it which I was not worried about because it still held its function, But upon initial use filming someone surfing I noticed that there was a slight glare coming through and I couldn't figure out what it was until I brought it home and shined a light into the actual lens, there was a large crack on one of the internal elements that looks like could only have been done by dropping the lens without any protection. I immediately called the company and was given return information and was told that it could be exchanged for a lens in the same condition. I received a call today saying that they are not able to do anything for me except return the broken lens and due to me having no pictures of the box itself they cant help me. This is unacceptable and IT SAYS THAT PRODUCTS CAN BE RETURNED WITHIN 21 DAYS IF UNSATISFIED WITH PURCHASE. I am never doing business with this company and if my credit card dispute does not go through I will look into taking legal action, this company is shady and based off other recent reviews many people are having issues with the company. read more

The only thing worse than the customer service at this place is the equipment that they want to peddle. I bought a camera body that was graded at EX+ (the second highest grade) only to receive a camera body that was broken and unusable. Due to an issue I had with selling equipment to them and using the money towards the "new" camera I originally wanted, I was told to resolve the issue with a manager named "Greco." I've tried for 4 days now to reach him and he never picks up his phone. I've also left voicemails asking him to call me back, which he's never done. I don't know what will become of my original equipment, as they've never bothered to get a hold of me to sort it all out, so I'm still in limbo, kicking myself for giving them the benefit of the doubt. read more

I sold my camera lens to this company in like mint new condition. I spoken to a gentleman regarding the grading and he had mentioned that the lens I had sold (fujifilm 40-140mm) was not in mint condition and that there was wear (which there wasn't. I literally used this lens twice) on the actual lens. I don't believe that they have the best grading especially when they give you a quote online and low ball you to a $100 less then what they originally quoted you for. I wouldn't go to these guys for anything. They don't even have the actual item your buying. So it's like a box of chocolates you don't know which ones your ever going to get. Edited Nadia, I already spoke to a representative from your company. And the sound of it you are technically saying "you either take it or leave it". Definitely not a good way to help a customer out that's trying to get rid of his gear. Lastly I spoke to someone who actually followed up with me regarding the issue. It takes an awfully long time to have my camera looked at once it arrived at KEH. And on top of this, I am not surprised that there isn't an option for direct electronic payment to my bank account. Perhaps I may have missed/not seen this option. The only options were: Trade, PayPal, or Check. I normally use MPB and their process takes usually takes 3-4 days at most. And they pay directly into my checking account. Now it will probably take a few more days for a physical check to get here, assuming it doesn't get lost in the mail. Lying or Incompetent? I purchased a Voigtländer Bessa III 667 Medium Format Camera from KEH in "Excellent Condition", backed by their 180-day warranty. The camera initially worked, but after one roll of film, it failed to close properly--despite correct handling. I sent it to KEH for repair under their warranty, but after over a month of delays and ignored emails, they denied my claim, falsely stating: "It was not set to infinity before closing and it appears to have been forced shut." As a photographer with 35 years of experience, I know for a fact that forcing this type of camera shut is impossible without visible damage or preventing it from opening again. Yet, KEH offered zero proof of their claim, just "IT APPEARS" and refused to honor their own policy, leaving me with a broken, expensive camera. KEH used to be a trusted company, but not anymore. Their ratings have plummeted over the last year across many trusted review sites. Their customer service is abysmal, their warranty is meaningless, and their technical knowledge is questionable at best. Either KEH doesn't understand the cameras they sell, or they intentionally mislead customers to avoid honoring warranties. Avoid this company--at the very least, be aware of what you're dealing with. read more

I recently became interested in taking up photography as a hobby. I knew for sure that I was going to buy something used especially as I'm still figuring out how much and how often I will use a camera. A pro photographer friend recommended KEH for the ability to search their inventory online and to see/hold/buy it in store. If you are new to photography and researched cameras online, then you know how overwhelming it can be. So much of the decision for me was the way it felt in my hand, so having access to such a wide ranging inventory was critical. No need to make an appointment but you may have to wait a short while for a sales person if they are busy. The guy who helped me was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and didn't talk down to me whatsoever. They also made an excellent offer on a used lens I had purchased from another store a few months prior. They will either buy your equipment outright or offer you more towards a purchase. The value for what you get is insane! And the equipment comes with a limited warranty in the event that something goes wrong... you never know with used, so this made me feel even more confident in my purchase.
