You get several meals worth of delicious food (fried chicken, fish, & pork-chop, BBQ ribs and pulled pork), samplings of ALL menu sides, dessert & drinks. It is all amazing. It is evident that Kee's also provides a strong cultural and community impact in Portland. While waiting my turn for pickup, it was fascinating to watch just how many people came up to Kee's to not only happily get their food but also ask to meet/see Kee and take pictures. Oh man this might be the best BBQ I've had. My group of friends and I got the everything plate which comes with every single item, side, a slice of cake, and two drinks (passion fruit lemonade). My favorites of the loaded kitchen were the burnt ends, wings, and dessert (chocolate cake). The burnt ends aren't super fatty and delicious. The wings are fried so light but are crunchy and juicy. The chocolate cake may look like something from a supermarket but it's nothing like it - its not overwhelmingly sweet and is moist for a cake. Overall, the BBQ is amazing. The sauce is brown sugar based and goes well with everything. As for the sides, the mac and cheese was bomb and the beans were great. A must visit when in Portland. read more

This is well worth the trip. We did the everything plate and it was more than enough to feed a small family. The lasagna was one of the best things I've eaten. It was saucy with the perfect amount of acidity and savory spices. The catfish was fried perfectly. Food took about 15 mins to get. It came out hot and wonderful. We were a little bummed we didn't get the strawberry cake, but the cookies were good. The truck had a steady flow of people around dinner time. They have tables outside and a small area to sit under an covered area if it was raining. There is plenty of parking. Service was quick. I had to bookmark Kee's for the next time I wanted some comfort food after reading an article of Amine's favorite spots to eat when he's back in town. Finally on a gloomy day it was the perfect time to stop by their food cart on MLK and get one of their combo meals. They close later but there was a call around 3PM saying they might sell out soon so definitely come by earlier if you want your pick of the items. Menu seems to rotate some of the items (ex - dessert and maybe some sides) but this time I got the combination of the chicken & crackfish. For $45 it is pricier than your average lunch or dinner meal but it was PACKED with all sides. I might opt to try the other combinations with all of the items since we missed out on the BBQ this time. For the combination we got though plenty of chicken to share and two pieces of fish. I really enjoyed the fish more so wished there were more pieces but the platter can last you a couple meals even if you're sharing. Batter and coating super seasoned so wash it down with the lemonade they gave with the meal. At times it was on the saltier side but I generally have a sweet tooth so that's just my preference but it was still good. As for the sides the roll was simple. Elevate it by warming it up and putting some butter on it. Greens/corn for me were OK as I would like a little more bite for my preferences. For the last side, I liked the mac & cheese to balance out the saltiness of the proteins. This time they had a pound cake with strawberries and cream that was super light and melt in your mouth. Best food I've had in a couple years probably. 1st time and wasn't exactly sure what or how to order. We got the crackfish that came with 4 fillets, mac, potato salad, baked beans, corn, roll and dessert. It was $45 which I thought was a lot but me and the hubs ate both lunch and dinner with this one order. Only thing I didn't care for was the roll it was just eh. Everything else was amazing. REPORT CARD Smoked Brown Sugar Ribs: A Fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy, one of the best I've had. I look forward to trying their brisket to compare it to champion Matt's. Fried chicken: B+ Excellent, crispy with lots of flavor. Inside is cooked a little longer which is the way I like it. Catfish: B+ So good, I prefer a crispier and flakier coating, but this works well. Potato Salad: A Tangy with bit of crunch; a far cry from what you get from the grocery store. The charismatic owner embodies passion for her craft. Must be a great feeling to know people love your food and will brave a long wait in hazardous air for it (I was there the day after Oregon's tragic historic fires.) ** The menu indicated that BBQ beef beans and corn on the cob were included, but we didn't get either. Not sure if they gave extra of something else. I admire that Kee's is Black-owned and it feels like a neighborhood joint. I lived in Oakland where Flint's had a similar vibe. Kee's spot is the best soul food/bbq spot you can get in Portland! The overall vibe of this street side quant and hot red abode is one of fun, food and love for her culinary craft. The food portion are meant to share as each loaded plate would easily feed 2-3 people. Today I got half chicken wings/friend fish! The fish was flakey, crispy and perfectly seasoned. I flew from out of state to support her business. I called last week to verify that they would be open, and I was told that it will be regular days and hours. Cool, I was excited to come to Portland, today I learned she would be closed today for whatever reasons. I called the number listed and it asks you to text so I did. The response was that they're closed today and will be open tomorrow, unfortunately, I leave early in the morning. I sent her a message on Instagram as well as left a comment, I wasn't rude just expressing how disappointed I was with today's closure and how I flew to Portland just to try her food. I wasn't rude, didn't curse etc. I go back to her Instagram page only to find out she blocked me and deleted my comment. That was a little alarming but when you hear people say,"that's why I don't shop or deal with black businesses" this is just one example of the reasons why. The catfish!! Perfectly seasoned and crunchy exterior and moist delicate perfectly cooked interior. Get it!! The lemonade was delicious too. It was the perfect palette cleanser not too sour and not too sweet. I also got the pork chops that were pretty good too but just a little salty for me but I don't eat too much salt so that's on me. I really like Kee's Loaded Kitchen. The food is amazing and the people very friendly. The downside is that I've never seen it anything other than swamped. It will take an hour or more to get through the waitlist to order your food. Once you order, it goes fairly quickly. Maybe 15 min, depending on what you order. There is also a small pop-up shelter, which means if it's raining - you might have to get friendly. One nice thing is that every order comes with all the sides and a can of drink. And, the food has generous portions and is very tasty. We ordered (2) meals and it comfortably fed the (3) of us. I would eagerly go there again, as long as I had the time. read more

This was my first time at Kee's Loaded Kitchen. The owner is extremely nice and down to earth. This is a food truck/trailer in a food truck park. You will need to find street parking but that is not hard to find. There is a process to this place. When you first come up, go to the front and grab a number. They verbally tell you your number and people do become confused about their order/number. Once your number is called, go up and place your order. The owner will let you know what they have left and give you a final price once you say what you want. You will pay while placing your order. They accept cash and credit cards. I do not think this place has a menu. They change what they serve every day. You can find out what they are serving that day from social media. The prices change daily as well. I like the amount of food given. One plate will feed 2-3 people. The food is quite tasty. The staff are great. I dislike the wait. I dislike that they run out of popular food items pretty early. The owner has passion, which is good for cooks and chefs, I've heard the social media can be divisive, but I avoid Facebook like the plague so I don't know much about that. Cons: However, the menu model is strange. I wasn't a fan of the only option being all or nothing. You get a ton of stuff for 25$ or whatever, may be nice for dinner, but it's not a great work lunch option (and contributes to food waste). I'd rather order the parts I want, and forget the rest. I don't need a banana dessert (I don't even like banana) at noon. I had no idea what was on the plate until I unwrapped it back at work. Even if the food is good enough the truth teller is "would I choose this again if I'm in the area?" With Cedo's around the corner and Kabba's Senegalese food card opening up right across from Kee's for a taste of my husbands homeland food, likely, no... There was at least 3lb of delicious soul food - cooked from the heart and satisfying for the belly. Fried catfish (fries in clean oil), chicken wings, cabbage/peppers/onions cooked in bacon fat, beans and rice, loaded Mac & Cheese, buttery rolls, peach/blackberry cobbler, and a drink!
