The rest of us ordered other brunch drinks, we don't think any of our drinks had any alcohol in them at all, we did not order a second round. It was then our turn to go up to the buffet- we could not find where to get the plates from. There were mini plates around but if you wanted a larger plate you had to wait inline for the kids and breakfast buffet. The food was just not good at all and very unorganized. The hashbrowns and Waffles were hard as rock, couldn't cut into them, bacon was practically raw, and items that should've been kept warm weren't. The stations were constantly empty. I would like to love this place, hopefully they will improve.

From the breathtaking setting to the extraordinary food and the care of the owner, Melissa, it was everything we could have hoped for. The beautiful old stone house overlooks the Hudson River, with a gorgeous 4,000-square-foot deck and colorful fall foliage all around. We were fortunate to have a warm, sunny October day, so the ceremony took place outside with the river and autumn trees as the backdrop. Watching my daughter get married in that setting is something I will never forget. The banquet room where we held the reception was equally beautiful--spacious, wonderfully lit, and decorated so perfectly for the wedding. The food deserves a review all its own! For cocktail hour, gorgeous displays were set up throughout several rooms on the main floor and in the bar area, and our guests enjoyed sitting both inside and outside. It was honestly the most delicious food I have ever had at a wedding, and our guests could not stop raving about it. Ellen's signature cocktail was a cosmopolitan--a perfect choice for my "Sex and the City" girl--and it was a huge hit. We chose an upgraded sit-down dinner with four entrée choices, and the salmon and short ribs were absolutely outstanding. Every plate was beautifully presented, the portions were generous, and the accompanying sides were just as delicious. Even after all that wonderful food, the wedding cake and the additional flourless chocolate cake were unforgettable. Having the entire property to ourselves made the celebration feel so personal and special. And Melissa brought everything together beautifully. She orchestrated the whole event seamlessly, with everything timed perfectly, allowing us to enjoy this incredibly important day. Our guests told us over and over that it was the best wedding food they had ever had and one of the best weddings they had ever attended. I know my friends, and they would not say that unless they meant it. As the mother of the bride, there are no words to fully express what it means to see your daughter have such a beautiful wedding day. Melissa and Hudson House Distillery helped give Ellen and Anthony memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives, and I will always be grateful. The wind of the water was a little chilly, especially at night, but it was not by any means impossible to enjoy the surroundings. The accommodations are these single-occupancy cabins in little groups. Mine had a heated bathroom floor that I was a big fan of. While it is a cabin, the water and climate control are up to par and there is wifi in a somewhat dodgy signal area. It was comfortable and offered a nice view, and there was never any interference from other cabins so you get a nice private feel. The rest of the campus included things like firepits, waterfront seating, a semi-sheltered outdoor dining area, and a fully enclosed hall used as a meeting space. A variety of ruins are not used for anything, but are there to be viewed and offer aesthetic intrigue. You certainly could not accuse them of failing to deliver a brickyard; there are bricks everywhere. Views across the water show bridges, and a lot of leafy greenery in an area that includes Bard College on the other side of the river. There is a separate public beach, but the hotel area is fenced off. I stayed for two nights and did not leave the entire time, which is unusual for a traveler like me, but I never needed to. They had some spa services but frankly I just didn't have time. Their food operation was adequate; they did offer menus with labeled options for special dietary needs. It was only two or three items most of the time (or there were buffets for some meals); it's the kind of American cuisine in which the vegetarian option is mostly vegetables and can be kind of light. This was an event and a visit to a new region for me, and it overall made a good impression.

Up on the hill next to the more modern retreat center, the Mansion has 13 bedrooms, and gorgeous grounds. perfext for a smaller wedding, or wedding party. I was just at Hutton Brickyards for The Festival (A Broadway version of Coachella.). It was the ideal venue -- room for stages And shows but also plenty of lawns and tree for enjoying the view and connecting with friends. If you are looking for an event space, you cannot do better.

There was a lovely, relaxed pace to the entire evening that reminded me of dining in Europe, where no one rushes you through a meal. But once I added the salt and pepper it was delicious Lobster bisque @ $12 was more liquidy than I'm used to, and although had pieces of shrimp -I did not see any pieces of lobster. But the flavor was very good Lamb shank at $55 served over risotto. My husband said it was excellent. He didn't need a knife to cut it. I ordered the sea scallops $45 and asked for them to be served with vegetables and potatoes instead of risotto. Five scallops were served and the meal was very good. Similar to the coffee it could've been served hotter but it was still very good. The women's restroom was clean and well stocked, my husband told me that the men's room only had a urinal which I found extremely odd and made him send me a picture to prove it because I didn't believe him. But then he told me there is an "all gender" bathroom, which made that make a little more sense.
