Explanation of what time the breakfast will be served and where was not provided. Basically the arrival experience that is standard to IHG was not followed. Furthermore, there was no acknowledgment of a request for linen service the following day as requested via email The linens were not made up on day two as requested, my door was left a jar for at least 10 minutes while I was downstairs getting breakfast. And the communication internally at this hotel is lacking. The housekeepers are very nice, but clearly there is a lack of communication or they would have known that I was not checking out until 1 PM and that I needed linens and towels the day before.

The room was well kept and supplies were given (even toothpaste and toothbrush, showercaps). Towels were changed daily and beds made and I was there for two nights three days. The indoor pool and hot tub were well kept and had separate towels for use. I would def return. I took one star off because we had the handicap bathroom and the standing shower was not draining well, water kept escaping out of the bathroom into the hallway. However once we spoke to the front desk , they accommodated lots of extra towels for us to dry the area up.

We had an incredible dining experience so we knew the next day, the wedding day, that the food would be delicious. First and foremost, the venue itself is stunning - featuring gorgeous marbling and chandeliers, in addition to a beautiful balcony type area outside - where the reception was held, in addition to ample seating and great photo ops with the bridge over the water. The food at cocktail hour was exceptional. Our bride and groom had a carving station, pasha station and crudite in addition to passed hors d'oeuvres. My favorites were the mini tacos - so fresh - with a margarita shot, the coconut shrimp, the penne vodka and the sushi! The venue where the reception was, was stunning! It was connected to the same room we had the cocktail hour, featuring a beautiful stone backdrop wall, a huge marble dance floor and gorgeous oval tables. The venue was stunning, the servers and wait staff were so incredibly friendly, hospital and accommodating and the food was delicious! Thank you Grandview for our friends and their amazing wedding party!

It had been a…read morecoup of years since my last visit and, WOW; The updates to the spaces was well thought out and executed. Toning down the color scheme and upgrading the finishes lends the space to a multitude of tastes and purposes from corporate gatherings to private social affairs. The staff was attentive, but would benefit from a team briefing about the menu and ingredients. I spent decades in hospitality management and understand the benefit of staff tastings before serving. That practice elevates the experience for attendees by assuring that the staff is well-versed on the ingredients and preparation before they interact with guests. For example, readers of my reviews understand that I have food, allergies. It's important for me to be discreet about asking what ingredients are used in the preparation at a past hors d'oeuvres event. On two occasions within the same half hour, I asked the server if there were any alliums used in the preparation. They did not know what alliums were so I explained that garlic and onion family is something I was not able to eat safely. Both times, the server did not know what ingredients were used and offered to check with the kitchen. That's a great back up plan but unfortunately, that server never returned to me, presumably he was intercepted along the way by other guest who wanted to sample what was on his tray Preparing the staff in advance of an event is crucial. This was the only failure that I could see. My experience would have been elevated to four stars had the servers been better trained. The view and tasteful renovations resulted in the additional star for a total of four stars.

A random road-trip stop at Shadows turned into one of the greatest dining experiences of our lives…read more We just wanted a solid meal with a river view after a long day on the highway. Instead, we found a culinary gem. The space is spectacular -- bright, open, and surrounded by relaxing river ambiance. We began our evening on the outdoor balcony, but a sudden thunderstorm dropped a tsunami of rain prompting a quick relocation into the equally welcoming main dining room. Our waiter, a charming young man from Hungary, gave us an excellent primer on the menu, which expertly balanced accessible staples with high-end luxury (creeping all the way up to an eye-popping $155 Wagyu steak special -- there were only 15 servings available for the night we later found out). As Port lovers, we were floored by the beverage options. Living outside of Philadelphia, we're used to restaurants offering one or two uninspired Tawnys. Shadows boasts an embarrassment of riches. Our waiter candidly confessed Port wasn't his forte and quickly dispatched the sommelier, Enrique. The fluid, passionate back-and-forth that followed was incredible; we learned more about wine in five minutes with Enrique than in decades of traveling. We gladly handed him the steering wheel for the rest of the night. Because we were celebrating my birthday, we went all in. My wife crossed caviar off her bucket list and tried the delectable octopus -- a substantial steak rather than the usual fried bits at most establishments. After some enabling from my wife, I went temporarily insane and ordered the Wagyu. As frequent diners, it was the priciest plate I've ever ordered, and it was worth every single penny. From the kitchen's flawless execution to exceptional hospitality that extended from the GM to the bus staff, the evening was perfect. Yes, we dropped a small fortune, but entirely by choice -- the menu accommodates nearly all budgets. We left feeling like we made out like bandits because the memories were priceless. Several times during dinner I literally felt envious of the locals. I hope they realize what a treasure they have in their midst.

I found mixed results with the food. The flatbread appetizer and cheesecake dessert was very good. I ordered steak as my entree and the server asked if I wanted it cooked rare, medium, or well done. I asked for medium rare and she said they couldn't do that. What kind of high end restaurant can't cook a steak medium rare? I found the cut I received to be way too overcooked. If you're looking for a place with a great view, stop by. Just don't order steak.

I live in NYC so ordering from a place you don't know of is always scary. I was pleasantly surprised at this establishment. The website has a large assortment to choose from and all price ranges. Checking out on the website was easy. Thank you to Irene who answered the phone both times that I called when I needed to make two changes to the enclosed card for the recipient. I was informed that the hydrangeas (white ones) had not arrived yet but I was offered a different color but only wanted white flowers. Irene suggested a few other options.....I know nothing about flowers or plants (all I know is roses and a bush lol). I just asked her to choose a pretty substitute and she did just that. Irene was friendly, extremely helpful and gracious at making the changes. Delivery was done early afternoon as promised. I will highly recommend Maguni and would surely reach out to them if I need more flowers. I also received a delivery confirmation email which was the cherry on the top of my shopping experience.
