Nick's father joined him on the second visit, and the experience became something far more meaningful than a simple repair. Listening to him explain the parts and the mechanics of a clock that has been in my family since 1984 was genuinely fascinating. I also had the privilege of experiencing their annual event, held the day before we spring forward, where the chimes ring out in celebration. It was a wonderful moment that perfectly captured how Champ's Clocks has become a true staple of their local community -- a business that genuinely appreciates the people it serves. During the event, we also had the chance to browse their inventory -- which was incredible -- and found the perfect clock for an upcoming milestone birthday. I sent a photo of the part, and Nick not only had it on hand but came out the very next day. I had a scheduling conflict and couldn't be there -- no problem. The owner of this shop was quick to get out and take my money. I thought he was coming out to clean and service my clock. He got here and didn't clean it at all, applied some oil attached the pendulum and weights and got it to run....for 3 days And proceeded to charge me $275. My husband was the one home when he got here. He said he was there for all of 15 mins and left. The clock guy didn't have much of any toola on him, didn't recall our conversation where i told him i needed a key to wind the clock and also a small screw to secure the front door to the mechanism. He did have a winding key but didn't even have a screwdriver or tiny screw to make that small repair. What kind of clock repairman makes house calls and doesn't have those things? He didn't seem very knowledgeable about clocks when asked basic questions and should have been clear that his house call wouldn't be what I was actually looking for. Instead he got there, took our money and proceeded to tell us it would be close to $1000 to clean the clock and bring it to his shop where he would keep it for several weeks. Absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! Save your money and hire Champs Clock Shop in Douglasville. It may be far away but they are very knowledgeable about clock repair, extremely thorough, and very reasonably priced. We could have had our clock cleaned, serviced, repaired and brought back to us 90 minutes away for almost the same price the Clock Shop charged to drive 30 mins and come out for 15 mins and not fix anything. Absolute rip off and not the friendliest to deal with.
