I ordered the crab cake dinner with a side salad and corn on the cob. The crab cake was missing some flavor and seemed to have more filling in it. The price was alright for what you got though. Ambiance was fine. Quiet and low key. The area its in is a little off putting but its not a bad place inside.

The decor is like someplace you'd find on the eastern shore...casual with lots of model boats and sea motif artwork. The service was very friendly, they treat your like you are family...happy to answer any of your questions. The service was prompt and professional. The food of course is went we went and it was delicious! We had a cup of crab bisque which at first sight was super thick...but happy to say that it wasn't pasty. It was hot flavorful with an old bay seasoning that was just right. We also ordered the crab dip appetizer which came with crispy toasted pita. It was thick with flaked crab, perfectly seasoned and creamy. It made for a wonderful opening dish. Only downside was that it arrived at the same time as our entrees. We both ordered the fresh, fried oyster platter which came with 5 sizeable oysters plus two sides. I got fried and hushpuppies, and my wife got onion rings and coleslaw. The oysters were perfect, mild tasting, with cocktail sauce or tartar sauce, lightly breaded. Delicous. The serving of hushpuppies was huge. They were crispy and just dense enough with out bring doughy. The onion rings were coated in a beer batter that was perfect. Crispy and light. Not like other places who's beer batter rings are so thick you can't find the onion. The rings here were very good. Do expect to pay for your fresh seafood. While the ambience is casual, the prices are not. A dozen steamed crabs in peak season were over $90! I could buy 4 lobsters at the grocery store for the same price. I know that this price is not unusual, in just saying that if you are looking for fresh seafood, you will need to expect to pay for it. It's not a place I could afford to visit every week, but when I'm in the mood for seafood, either to cook at home or to eat out, this business will be high on my list.

I waited a bit for the place to open, and was getting ready to leave when a woman parked in front of me and got out of her car asking if I was looking for seafood. "Yup"- so I followed Rae, the owner, into the shop. I was really looking for jumbos but I know the drill-they are hard to get. Rae was out of jumbos but managed to get a bag #1 males together for me. The "cherry on top" was one Jumbo male. Got home, and immediately fired up the steamer. Dumped them in (all alive and kicking!!) and then started to eat. (The jumbo was dessert). After having eaten 6-7 crabs. I was full. Started putting them away and there were 10 left! So while Rae didn't have the size crab I wanted, she did me a solid and threw a bunch more crabs in. Everything you read about her in the reviews is true. She has a personality bigger than life and is a good soul. Thanks Rae. Hope you see this.

Visited Shula's for the first time. It is a very nice restaurant specializing in fresh seafood…read more It's a nice place for a date night, birthday or anniversary. Service was excellent. Food came out at just the right pace between courses. Ambience was only "ok"... I did notice that things looked a bit worn. And one thing that bothered me was that there were ceiling tiles that were badly water stained and sagging... nothing active, but it was very unsightly. Given that they are very easy to replace, leaving them there just made the place feel less "special evening" ambience to more like "a diner" which is a shame for a place i expected to be more classy. As for the food we had lots of positives to say. We tried the crab bisque appetizer which was thick and creamy with just the right amount of seasoning and crab meat. The portion for a first course was generous. We also got the steamed mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce. The mussels were cooked perfectly. They were plump, tender and flavorful the sauce was delicious. Be sure to ask for extra bread to soak up some of the broth and juices. The side salads were likewise generous portions, fresh and crisp. Very happy! The main courses come with just one side. I got the fried seafood platter with hushpuppies and my wife got the stuffed flounder with onion rings. The fried platter came with flounder, shrimp and oysters, with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. All were coated in a lightly seasoned breading that was crisp. Not overly thick. The hushpuppies, which other reviewers said were outstanding, I found to be on the sweet side. Crisp, yes, but overall just ok...I prefer mine more savory than sweet. The stuffed flounder was also very well done. Delicious. The flounder was cooked just right. Flaky and moist. The onion rings were thick cut, beer batter dipped. They were hot and crisp and the portion like everything else here was generous. In the end we did need a box to bring some of our entrees home. We left very satisfied. So I was pretty satisfied with the food and the service. Now if they could just do something to get the dining room as upscale as the food and service this would be an outstanding dining experience... thus only four stars instead of five.

The location is beautiful, and the inside of the building is just as impressive. It was warm, spacious, and perfect for a holiday meal. As for the buffet, it offered your typical catered-style items: a mix of brunch dishes and classic Thanksgiving staples. The dessert table was large and had a nice variety. We had one of the last reservations of the day, and I do think timing affected the experience. The food was good, but not great. A few dishes, like the mac and cheese, clearly sat for a while. I honestly believe if we had come earlier, we would've had a different impression of the food quality. The dessert table also showed some signs of being at the end of service, but still had good options. The staff, however, was excellent (well most)! A special shoutout to the Thanksgiving Day bartender--she was friendly, attentive, and very apologetic after an uncomfortable interaction with another staff member. When I asked about drinks, a gentleman (who appeared to be a manager) chimed in with a surprisingly negative and harsh response toward myself and another guest. It created a very awkward moment, and even the bartender was embarrassed by his tone. Based on that interaction alone, I'd hesitate to return if I were in the area again. Shoutout to the hostess as well, she was great.

Upon arrival we were cordially seated and staff was very nice and helpful! First we ordered an appetizer of the crab pretzel, which was DELICIOUS!!! I then ordered the blue crab and my husband ordered the ribeye/crab cake dinner. My crab was plentiful and refills were promptly delivered. Sadly my husbands steak wasn't really to his liking. He stated seasoning was a bit off and the crab cake was also a little dry. When he spoke to the server he was offered a new dish and discount which was quite nice! He opted for the discount (which we stated wasn't necessary but definitely appreciated!) I just kept eating my crab!! We also loved the background music (80-90's country with some classic mixed in) it wasn't overly loud and quite enjoyable! The place was clean and roomy we didn't feel crammed into a small space!! I overall recommend this place but it is not a "high-end" fine dining place but thinking of WHAT I was eating and how messy that is? I have no issue with that!!
