I so wanted to love this place. I love a good donut from a local joint. The display case looked great. Donuts looked amazing. I ordered a dozen - apple fritters, cream filled, cinnamon rolls, old fashioned , twist and iced yeast. A bit of sticker shock at $34. The yeast donuts tasted a bit stale and too bready, not as light and pillowy as I hoped. They also lacked the level of sweetness I was expecting. If you're craving a donut and don't have high expectations, this place will do in a pinch. The donuts are pretty average--nothing to write home about--and often taste like they've been sitting out for a while. They reuse their classic chocolate with glaze donuts and that doesn't hit home for me. Definitely not the freshest or fluffiest around. That said, it's a quick fix if you're desperate for something sweet. Bonus points for selling lotto tickets, so you can dream big while settling for mediocre pastries. Peace Yelp Heads! read more

Do crave a good donut to go with your coffee every once in a while. Me too, just not this place. The apple crisp donuts here lack flavor and don't have that crispy texture you'd expect. The maple bar and the chocolate twist had the same issue. No real flavor or good texture.. The cinnamon bun was weirdly doughy. The cinnamon flavor comes through but again with the bad texture. This sampling was from donuts purchased on Saturday @6:30ish in the morning. As far as the guy who helped me he acted like he didn't want to be there. I don't blame the guy but it is his own business so? If there was any competition from a family run donut shop this one wouldn't last long. Cash only and about every day labor in the area out front asking for work. Next time I'm craving coffee and donuts I'll have to go elsewhere. Petersons in Escondido is absolutely amazing. read more

My boyfriend said the donuts here tasted like the dough had been frozen as they were too dense and didn't seem to have puffed up during frying. My donuts weren't dense as his were but they had absorbed flavor from something else. (Which could happen if frozen or if they had been stored with other flavored donuts for too long). We both agreed nothing we had was fresh and we didn't think they had been made same day. This was a Sunday morning and the case was maybe 1/3 full? I see from other reviews it looks like they aren't big on service for Sundays so maybe that's it? read more

Best donuts in town. Of course the competition is one of the nations largest chains and stores that do not specialize in donuts like Starbucks, Albertsons, or Circle K. These are quality donuts, well made and moderately generous in size. My wife absolutely loves the fritters. She swears they are the best she has ever had. For me, nothing about this KD distinguishes them from most of the mom & pop stores. That is not a bad thing, it just isn't a great thing. I like donuts and I like these. The prices are fair. Not amazing, but fair. definitely cheaper than Dunkin' and bigger as well. However, charging me 50 cents for a box when I am buying six donuts (most of them larger expensive ones), that does not seem right. Pros: They are not a chain and you can tell from the taste and the size. The family who runs the store is always friendly. Cons: Cash only. I know you lose a small percentage, but come on it's 2020! Anyone can take a card. Want a donut in Ramona? this is the place to go. It is a Ramona 5-star and a down-the-hill 3-star place. Want a donut that knocks off for a very reasonable price, head down the hill to Mary's in Lakeside or Peterson's in Escondido. read more

I don't have a problem with a grouchy lady at the front counter. Not do I have a problem with cash only. I do have a problem walking into a donut shop at 9:30am on a Sunday, and being presented with maybe 7 types of donuts, with very few of the classics available. And being told there will be no more donuts coming out the rest of the day. I've been here a couple times, as well as Duncan Donuts across the street, and at least DD has a pretty good selection, even late in the day. I won't be back unless I'm desperate. read more

Definitely one of the best donuts I've ever had. Their dough and ingredients surely beat out Winchell's and the majority of other donut shops. The only reason I know of this great donut shop is that my manager that lives in Ramona, brings my department donuts EVERY Friday and she get them on the way to work. KD used to be good but have gone way downhill in quality and taste. Additionally they keep raising their prices in extreme and are now also lowering the size and quality. The owner also continues to refuse to offer any payment options other than cash. Horrible business model across the board. read more

I'm huge on customer service. As a first time customer, I was turned off by the owners attitude. She was very pleasant at first, until I asked for a favor. I paid for my donuts (2) and they were in the same bag. I was getting ready to leave but then decided I wanted them each placed in separate bags (one was for a coworker) Her attitude changed so quick. She was obviously annoyed by this and said " next time let me know in advance because we have different sized bags"....I said oh I'm sorry I didn't know. She then repeated the same thing, lightly tossed my donuts on the counter, and said "have a nice day" as she walked away and gave me her back. You definitely lost a customer. Over a BAG. I went there on a Saturday near 1:00 p.m. The smell of fresh doughnuts was overwhelming and mouth watering. I was greeted instantly by a friendly woman working on boxes in the dining room and the doughnut racks were about 90% empty. This was actually a good thing and understandable. They had one raspberry filled left and I ordered that since that flavor is my friends favorite and 2 long john's and another one I can't remember the name of. I got the LJ's simply because they were one of the only one's with some kind of chocolate on them. I asked if they had anything filled with custard, or something similar, and the woman (from the dining room) told me, "No" but offered to fill the LJ's for me...wait, W H A T?!?! That was a fantastic offer and I jumped all over it. These doughnuts tasted fantastic, had great texture, and were very fluffy and smelled great. Will be going there again, soon!!! read more
