I really love Zen Massage!!…read more I tried a few other places in town, and this one is for me. My therapist here is absolutely amazing! I'm not going to mention their name because I don't want them to get so busy that I can't get in. They have male and female therapist here in case you have a preference. There are no memberships or pressure tactics like that other chain massage place. And they have good availability in multiple therapists, unlike a one person shop. They're in a nice shopping plaza with several restaurants and other businesses in case you need stuff after your massage. They are very good at communication via email and text and phone. I am very pleased with Zen Massage.

I think the worst thing was that I wore my hair up in a bun, and MT asked if I wanted to wear it down. I specifically said no and made it clear that I didn't want oil in my hair. Later on she literally rubbed oil (which smelled terrible) completely through my hair and then lathered it onto my face. At the end, without any warning, threw a very hot towel on my back. Had she told me it would not have been so shocking. With all the good ratings I was disappointed in the quality of massage and then walking away like a grease pit. I only give it a maybe because maybe there is someone better.

I've noticed that after I visit Paula, after she works out the multitude of knots that have accumulated in my upper back, shoulders, and arms, it's as if she has freed up my body's innate ability to heal itself, as it jumpstarts what seems like a stopped/plugged up ability of my body to heal that occurs when I operated for too long in major stress mode.. "Healing Hands" is great description for Paula's work. NOTE: She also doesn't talk through the entire massage, like some masseuses do, which I think is totally odd and disruptive of my process of relaxing into the massage. She is personable at the beginning and after the massage but speaks only to make sure I'm doing ok. I live in Kansas but make the drive to MO just to experience this woman work miracles.

My last trip here I called three places and no one got back to me. So this time I called Paula and booked it next day. She is located inside a lovely salon (Salon Ritz) cottage in Independence. The room is spacious and nicely adorned. The room was a bit cool but the table is heated so I was perfectly toasty - ready to fall asleep. I am used to deep tissue/sports and she did not disappoint. She provides a great deal of even, consistent pressure and worked on my neck pain. I fell in and out of sleep for 60 wonderful minutes. Like the other review, I also appreciated that she didn't talk during the massage. I wish she had a website but then she would be more popular and I couldn't get a next day appointment!

My husband underwent surgery for a brain tumor, and the chemotherapy and radiation treatments that…read morefollowed were incredibly challenging for him. Before scheduling his first massage, I contacted Opulent to discuss his specific needs and how massage therapy could support his recovery. We needed to ensure that certain areas were avoided and that only unscented oils and products were used. The team listened carefully and accommodated every request exactly as discussed. Since then, we have been coming in weekly, and the difference has been remarkable. The massages have helped him feel significantly better and have made the treatments he is enduring much more manageable. Everyone at Opulent is compassionate, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to their clients' well-being. Their caring approach, combined with their exceptional skill, has been a tremendous source of comfort during a very difficult time.

First off there was confusion right when we got there and we should have taken it as a sign to leave but we stuck it out. They used generic baby oil and suave lotion. It was very distracting There was no music only a ticking clock. Prepare to be rubbed with scratchy towels I wouldn't go back to this place even if it was free. As my massage was in progress I started to question if the aromatherapy was being used, but since it was one I hadn't had before I just thought to myself, if it's not being used they just won't charge me. Half way through someone slid the masseuse a note that I had added the aromatherapy. It was used for the rest of the massage. When I was checking out the gal asked if I had aromatherapy and I hesitantly said yes and said for only half the massage, no one gave her the bottle. The gal kinda laughed and said oh that's ok. While I don't mind still paying for it, the brushing it off like it didn't pay for a full experience didn't sit well from me. Also, my room was close to the front and it's just not enjoyable when you can hear people on the phone and I'm not sure if some of the girls had friends visiting but there was a lot of chatter that continued. I knew they weren't additional guests because they were all eating Taco Bell together. It just gives a bad name to a "relaxing" place when you can hear people talking your entire relaxation time. Unfortunately I don't intend to visit this location again just because the lack of ensuring I had a good experience between what I paid for and the constant chatter.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was beyond frustrating…read more I originally signed up for my membership at the Leawood, KS location. For months, I've been trying to cancel my membership. I've called four separate times, and every single time I'm told that only a manager can process the cancellation and that someone will call me back. No one ever does, yet I continue to be charged the $80 monthly membership fee. Since I couldn't get my membership canceled, I decided to use the massages I'd already paid for by scheduling one for my husband, just as we had done before. I booked the appointment online under my name, then called the Lee's Summit location beforehand to confirm it was okay for him to use my membership. The employee updated the appointment to my husband's name, took his information, and confirmed everything was set. After his massage, however, the manager, Keely, told him he wasn't allowed to use my membership. When I spoke with her on the phone, she insisted that no one at the location would have told me otherwise, despite acknowledging that she could see I had called before the appointment. Rather than trying to understand what happened or offer a solution, I was made to feel like I was being dishonest. I explained that I've been trying to cancel my membership for months and asked if my husband could at least use the five remaining massages that I've already paid for. Keely said there was no way to do that, so we were forced to pay an additional $170 for the massage that day. What made the experience even more disappointing was Keely's attitude throughout the interaction. She was dismissive, unwilling to help, and offered no solutions whatsoever. As someone who manages a business myself, I understand that mistakes happen. What matters is how they're handled, and this situation was handled very poorly. When we asked who she reports to or if there was someone else we could speak with, she gave us only the general MassageLuXe corporate phone number. I called it, but no one answered, there was no option to speak with a representative, and there wasn't even a way to leave a voicemail. It genuinely felt like there was no avenue to resolve the issue. At this point, the most frustrating part isn't even the extra $170 we had to pay. It's the impossible cancellation process, the continued monthly charges despite repeated requests to cancel, and the complete lack of accountability when a problem arises. I sincerely hope the owners read this review because the customer service at this location, specifically the way Keely handled this situation, falls far below what I would expect from a business that relies on memberships and repeat customers. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Lee's Summit location.
