Colonial Car Wash

Colonial Car Wash

I ran my debit card to be able to wash the Salt out of my matts. I ran the self serve spraying wash…read morebay option. I only ran the sprayer for 9 minutes and change. They originally charged my card $12, so I thought they would adjust after and the amount would decrease. This was not the case!! The final charge was $22.60 for under 10 minutes of spraying water in the freezing cold. What a rip off!! I'm not cheap, that is crazy expensive and the math from hard money to card payment isn't aligned.

This review is just for the self-serve bays…read more I'm old school; I'm happy washing my car in a pay-as you-go bay where I'm in control of how much time I need and how much soap and rinse I want to use. I'm glad Colonial has a couple of these bays, but using them isn't quite as customer friendly as I had hoped, especially as a first time user. These bays do not have bill readers. They take credit cards, but you don't exactly get to select how much time you want. Instead, the screen will show increasing time/cost, and you have to remember to QUICKLY press the stop button when you think you've got enough... meaning I need to know in advance how much time and money? They're probably hoping you err on the side of caution and overpay. They also take coins, but only quarters and $1 coins. When was the last time you had $1 coins on you? (NOTE: You can probably get $1 coins and quarters at a coin dispenser on site.) I had a bunch of quarters all set though. It's 25 cents per 15 seconds, minimum of 8 quarters/$2.00. But you either need to have your hand on that spray nozzle or have a 2nd person handy, because as soon as you start adding coins, the countdown begins, which means I lost about 10 seconds getting quarters #2 through #8 in. There's also a time lag between when you switch from soap to rinse, which means you may want to switch to rinse maybe 10-15 seconds before you actually want the soap to stop. Having the ability to put all the coins in and then press "START" would be handy, like some other self-serve car washes I've used in the past. I did get my car clean, and I'll have a better idea how to handle this on future visits. It wasn't a bad experience, just not as good as similar service I've had elsewhere.

Hoffman Car Wash

Hoffman completely rebuilt the old Raindancer car wash into a state of the art new facility which…read moreopened in late 2025. Unfortunately, they no longer have the self service bays, but now offer free vacuums which is a big plus. When they opened the new facility, they were giving away free car washes for a couple of days and had some special on their Unlimited Car Wash Plan which included additional free car washes after the plan expired. I signed up for the plan, the attendant put a bar code on my windshield and I used the car wash during the winter. Overall, the car wash did an excellent job when first opened. And when first opened a lot of colored lights would begin flashing as the vehicle passed through the various stages of the wash. The final time I used the car wash fewer lights were flashing and for the first time an attendant used a hose to spray down the front of my car. It's uncertain whether the car wash was now providing all the features included in the paid for plan. There are two lanes vehicles use which scan plan bar codes which then merge into one lane while making a sharp left hand turn to enter the wash. Twice I almost got into an accident because a vehicle couldn't make the turn and had to backup as the lanes merged causing a near miss. The exit from the car wash is tricky and causes confusion. There is a yellow light and a small sign which states to wait for the green light. The yellow light may be on or off and green light seems to go on at random times. While waiting for the green light the vehicle may not be moving forward because the plastic track which propels the vehicle is now only on the rear wheels and can begin to slip. Many times I had to drive away and not wait for the green light. Finally, the vacuums work well.

Haven't tried the actual car wash yet but very happy with the self service vacuum. Note they only…read moreaccept quarters in these machines but for $2 in quarters you get a generous allotment of time to vacuum and the vacuum is quite powerful. Totally took care of the random stones and sand in my front seats. They have mat clips and a trash can too which is appreciated. I'll probably return for a car wash later.

I was a member from the opening of this wash, it was purchased from splash and that where it went…read morebad. The wash is inconsistent, and actually damaged the car. When i filled out a claim in, they denied it even though It clearly was the wash. the "Manager" insulted me, threatened me and then "Banned" me. this is all from a phone call mind you, when i he blatantly said I do not know what I am talking about and "A car wash cannot damage a car". One on the most oscinine thing I ever heard/ So even after I was "banned" on the phone call, he kept goading me on and on especially when i said " Oh No, I am banned! You mean I cannot spend $500 a year for you to damage my car?? Oh no, I must now got to the other four car washes around here?? oh no"" So i hang up, go to Hoffman, which is cheaper . better. and has many more locations. but wait it gets better, I get a call from the local police department about some kind of incident??? I was like what are you talking about, this guy called ME at my home and threatened me and canceled me, yes, i had choice words for the idiot, but they went over the line. So far, i have had three people cancel!!! Hey splash, go away, we do not want you around here. We like our local Hoffman and Colonial washes, IF YOU LIKE YOUR CAR, AND LIKE YOUR COMMUNITY, STAY AWAY FROM THIS WASH. BRIGHT LIGHTS DO NOT WASH CARS, IT IS A HORRIBLE WASH AND TO TOP IT OFF, THEY DAMAGE THE CAR AND OPPOSED TO HONORING IT, THYE ACCUSE YOU OF LYING AND THEN BAN YOU WHEN YOU DISAGREE. DO NOT DO IT HOFFMANS DEAL IS WAY BETTER!!!!!!!!!
