My travels to upstate NY on a recent weekend trip has brought me here to Latham, NY and to the Latham Inn. What brought me to this particular property was that it was the cheapest in the area. I found this property on Priceline.com and for the price, it was pretty cheap. $74/night with taxes and fees was pretty darn good already! With the photos on yelp and on Priceline, I had decided to book it online. Truth be told, yes, it felt like being in a slightly better motel 6, with more comfort, ambiance, and just felt like home in a weird way. Definitely not like the Sheraton, but for the price, I wouldn't have it any other way. The Latham Inn was suitable for my needs and I have stayed here for 2 nights from Thursday & Friday, 9/25 & 9/26 occupying room 211. The Latham Inn is located on 5XxX Watervalet Shaker Road (US-155) in Latham, NY. Right off the I-87 and exit 5, this comfortable inn can be one of those budget friendly properties that can be a great asset to you, if you don't mind staying here. The Latham Inn is technically in the back of the long driveway, which is anchored by a restaurant bar that sits right in front. The property is dated, but the room I have gotten ain't that bad, but it could use some updating to be sure. The property accepts credit cards, which is a good thing. I had booked this one on hotels.com and they found my reservation okay. Only problem with my experience was that I arrived at night and I had to wait for the front desk person to return, which was like 10 minutes. 10 minutes I could use to do something else. Ugh. Still, everything else was in order. The room itself was nothing specular. Just your basic hotel room - modeled after a motel 6. It was clean for the most part and felt homely to some extent. The remote control didn't really work properly, but I didn't need to watch tv, when I had my iPhone. There is wifi here, but its kind of spotty, but there is a couple of hotspots around. The bed itself was surprisingly comfortable. I had gotten myself a king bed and it was pretty good. Somehow, the good night's rest in a safe cheap property is just what is needed. The check out process was okay. A kid was manning the front desk the morning I checked out. It was awkward when I told the 9 year old I wanted to check out and have him my room key. After a short while, the father came out and formerly checked me out of the hotel. It was one of those things were weird is just random around these parts. There was plenty of parking here. There was loads of parking in between the restaurant / bar and more hotel parking in back of the hotel. No parking ticket given. My overall experience was an okay one. The only thing that irked me was that they had a small breakfast spread in the lobby area with a sign that said $3. That's just weird and awkward. I know that there are better properties in the Latham or in Albany to stay in, but this was the cheapest I could find, without sacrificing safety and quality. I would recommend this one, just because it is affordable and clean. Other than that, if you want more bells and whistles, look elsewhere. This one serves its basic needs and has a good price for it. Almost all the outlets didn't work and a lot of lights wouldn't work. It really reeked of cigarette smoke when supposedly you're not allowed to smoke. The comforters were full of cigarette burns. It's a walkable tiny town with some nice restaurants and shops very conveniently located with a minute or two of the hotel, and a whole lot more in the region. No food service at the hotel, but there is a coffee station in the common area and a shared mini fridge as well. The bagel shop located literally across the street is open nice and early, though, and the tokens for the fancier coffee shop nearby are a nice touch. The setup for traveling with kids is also great - my kid loved the crib and the cozy lounge room with toys and books was a much-appreciated play space.

However, here at Four Chimneys Inn, we loved it so much, we asked if we could stay another night, and they said YES ! Our first night was spent in a red and yellow decorated room, which was very spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows were super comfy ! It was room #11 and on the first floor. Our second night was spent next door in #10, and those colors were creams, blues and muted gray. For some reason, my camera picked up mostly the gray and left very little color to view, which is weird, because there was a lot of blue, which I actually preferred to the red and yellow room. The room was perhaps a bit smaller, but it was still VERY spacious and more than enough room for the 2 of us. Again, the bed and pillows were super comfy. I think I liked this second room more, if nothing else, than because of the colors. Blues, grays and creams just spoke to me more than reds and yellows. I felt more at home, I guess. Both rooms had fireplaces, but in disgusting 90+ degree heat/humidity, no thank you. On the first night of our stay, the inn's restaurant was closed, but when we unexpectedly extended our stay by one night, that also opened the possibility of dining in-house, which thrilled our tired bodies like you wouldn't believe. We didn't feel like doing anymore driving, so we stayed put and ended up having an elegant dinner at Four Chimneys Inn. Breakfast the next morning was included with the price of each night's stay, but we only availed ourselves to breakfast after our second night's stay. (See separate review for the restaurant.) The inn staff was incredibly kind and friendly, not to mention, helpful. If ever we get to return to Bennington, Vermont, there is NO DOUBT that we'd find our way back to staying at the Four Chimneys Inn. Everything about this place is inviting, friendly, comfortable, quaint and charming.

I visited this farm bc I watched the segment from Good Morning America on their website and thought…read moreit seemed educational and fun. I wanted to see how a real farm works. The tour was said to be an hour and include milking a cow. In reality, if you take the 3pm tour there is no cow milking and it was about 25 min. We followed a farm hand around and poured hose water into troughs and fed the animals. It was really boring and not very informative. I would not have bothered to leave a review except the price for this was absurd. $25. So I paid a dollar a minute to do someone else's chores and learn nothing. Would not recommend.

They are patient with the kids too. They show you the ropes and let you participate in whatever farm activies you want to help with. They have amazing meats to cook up/bbq. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you need to cook utensil wise. I texted Sherry to ask about spices and bake ware. She responded quickly and even was willing to give us a little BBQ sauce if we needed it. This is such a loving family/farm. We wish we stayed longer. They have pigs, chickens, sweet cows, baby cows, sweet lambs and goats. A nice bull you can pet. Oh there is an abundance of cats and a deer herd which you can pick grass and feed them. Other experiences was the most fun bon fire with Ron. He was so fun and great with the kids. He told jokes, sung campfire songs brought s'mores. The hay ride takes your through their property and you get to hear some history of how the family founded the land. We will hopefully return one spring to see the baby deers
