Me and my boyfriend booked this tour approximately 3 months before our vacation to D.C. I had a few questions about the tour prior to our scheduled tour dates . I called and emailed about 3 times each and never received any communication. The day of our tour we arrived at the meeting location (Navy Memorial) and our driver was early waiting for us. There was only one other couple on the tour with us so there were plenty of seats available. Our driver Kev explained our locations that we would visit and drive by and stated that we would be dropped off at the African American History Museum. Our tour began and Kev was very informative on the history of the beautiful colonial houses explaining who lived where etc. Our first stop where we could get out for pictures was the Capitol. Kev explained that at each stop we would have about 15 minutes to explore and he gave us a meeting spot to return to. Well we returned a little early and Kev was waiting and I inquired about how long he had been doing this tour and sarcastically he replied " Today is my first day". I was thrown back by his answer and by then the other couple walked up and it was time for the next stop. The couple on the tour with us inquired if we felt that Kev was sarcastic because they stated to us that he was very short and sarcastic with them earlier in the morning. As time goes by we arrived at Frederick Douglas home and as we were outside waiting for the tour to begin Kev approached me and began to talk. I was shocked because he had been short most of the morning. We explained that we were on vacation from California and had visited family in the area. Once he heard that he began giving us suggestions on where to go visit and directions. I just assumed he was having a bad morning which doesn't justify his sarcasm but I let it go. I will definitely suggest taking this tour because there is so much history to hear. I would also ask that Kev clean the bus because the seats were a little dirty but otherwise. Our tour guide Kenny was very knowledgeable about the City, its history and random facts. He was very engaging, had a great sense of humor, and was accommodating. The vehicle was very clean, spacious and it wasn't over crowded. He also drove safely. I enjoyed hearing all of the facts about the history and the neighborhoods as it related to Black history and culture. I also enjoyed the food. Seeing the various monuments lit up at night was a beautiful site. Visiting the Museum of African American History - The Smithsonian the next day after the tour was the icing on the cake and the best way to end my trip to DC. read more

I had an amazing experience with KB Tours. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about African American history. He was punctual, very communicative, funny, friendly, just all around pleasant to be around. The tour van was sleek, clean, and a very comfortable ride. This will be Our 2nd time going on the African American Tour of DC (first time was 2018) Began Bright & early ( 930am) ! Be On Time Please!! I appreciate Timeliness & Our Tour guide Kenny Definitely does! We had 14 in our Group from all over U.S. Covid Protocal was enforced Masks inside Van & Museum! Kenny is a Friendly & Knowledgeable Tour guide of History. His storytelling is a Teaching Lesson with Humor as well. Everyone felt Comfortable to Ask Him Anything! Like last time stops at the Capitol, MLK Memorial, Lincoln Memorial & Fredrick Douglas House. A marathon closing some streets prevented some of the stops I remembered from the 2018 Tour such as White House, War Memorial, nor could we go inside Fredrick Douglas house/ museum. I learned so much about DC and was so incredibly grateful to receive such an in-depth account of the unique and defining truths of enslaved people, and all POC throughout our capitals history. I truly enjoyed this African American tour through KB Tours with my family. Mr Burns was very gracious and his van had accommodations for my mom's wheel chair/lift that allowed her to see many of the sites in person that she would not been able to see! We were able to see many area's of Washington DC area that you traditionally would not get the opportunity to see. I truly enjoyed the young lady who narrated the tour. She was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us adequate time to visit many of the landmarks. The tour was 2.5 hours. We visited the State capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Dr King Memorial,Howard University, Fredrick Douglas Home and historic neighborhoods. We also pass by Mary McLeod Bethune home and neighborhood. The tour finally ends at the African American History Museum where you are given passes to have the rest of the day to explore. There was complimentary water also available This will not pick you back up since this is the final stop, so you will have to make your own plans getting back to your hotel/home. Customer service is everything! We booked this tour and mistakenly missed the date that we booked after a long travel in from another state late the night before. It was an honest error and the owner/tour guided called 10 mins after our scheduled departure time. We were the only group of 12 people scheduled for that day. We profusely apologized for missing it and for any inconvenience we caused. He was willing to allow us to go the next day along with a a few other people, but he could only accommodate 11 of us. Our group appreciated him being willing to work with us as we understand that he didn't have to do that. Our group also offered other solutions to not inconvenience him any further. We both agreed to 11 out of 12 people attending the next day and we also paid an extra $43 for the museum tickets since he had to buy tickets for the next day because we didn't go the previous day as scheduled. The issue is that he continued to talk about the mistake and treat our group rudely during the tour. If he was not ok with the change, he shouldn't have agreed. Eventhough we made a mistake and missed the original date, we were still paying customers and should have been treated with respect. We continued to apologize while on the tour and he kept bringing up the mistake. Just feel like that is not good customer service. Beware that if you decide to book this tour that you can't make a mistake without hearing about it and being treated rudely after he agrees to meet you half way (his words)and work with you. Due to the nature of travel and unexpected challenges, I would not recommend this tour. read more

initially we booked the tour, because the headline was National African American History Museum. We really wanted to visit this museum on our trip but tickets were booked months out. This tour was much more than just the museum. Our guide did a superb job of giving us a great overview of the significance of Washington DC history. This tour was my very first tour and I must say I truly enjoyed it. You won't be disappointed going on this tour. We were able to see everything on the itinerary. The tour guide is very knowledgeable. Definitely wear some comfortable shoes because you will be walking a lot. The bus that your ride in is really nice and comfortable. If you choose the black history tour and you are going the National African American History Museum be advise that museum is free even without the tour. This tour was excellent. I was visiting DC for the African American museum and we did the tour the following day. This tour also includes a ticket for the museum which is a plus since you'd have to book the museum tickets ahead of time. We went to Frederick Douglas' house, Howard University, Dr MLK memorial as well as the regular sites in DC. We got the African American history of dc and the sites. I highly recommend it. My husband and I visited DC for the first time- dream trip! The tour was great. We were able to see parts of the city that we otherwise wouldn't have known about. The rich history was amazing. I am waayyy late in posting this review, but I wanted to give KB tours an overdue compliment. I took the DC African American tour around Christmas time and I made a mistake and showed up for the tour on the wrong day. It was all my fault and I expected to have to go all the way back to my family's home in Virginia after traveling into DC for the day. The tour guide was super nice and accommodating. He allowed me to go on the tour and made sure I had my ticket for the African American Museum at the end of the tour. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I took my mother on a tour with KB Tours. The tour guide met us at the train station, as we travelled from Baltimore. I was quite impressed at the amount of knowledge that the owner , Kenneth (I believe) had. He also was very passionate about the information he shared, which made it that much more exciting. We did an abbreviated tour, as we didn't have much time and I was recovering from surgery (1 week prior). However, he was very accommodating to what we wanted and made us feel very comfortable . I would have given the tour a one but Kenny's driver was well dressed and very professional. The driver made sure we had water, kept the bus cool on a hot day, and helped us in and out of the bus. Kenny needs to find non-Google facts about each landmark. He was very agitated when we asked questions. I'm not sure if I would recommend this tour for African American history. read more
