I called and in detail explained that our event would be a rooftop event that is 4 flights of stairs up and that the chef should bring an assistant. She confirmed verbally on the phone that it was no problem. I again, reminded them in writing that it was on the 4th floor and to bring assistance and allow extra time for set up. When the chef arrived he was alone and very stressed and needed help with set up. We were hosting a beach event we wanted to smoothly transition to the roof dinner but then had to ask our guests to help carry a hibachi restaurant to the roof themselves. I ordered shade structures that I canceled because it was too many items to carry, we were still charged for them. Now for a "catering" company I would expect plates, bowls and silverware to be provided. But I had to come up with all of those items myself, as well as create a quick table scape because they simply had water bottles holding down a table cloth. Now the food: It is not very good. Lacking flavor and sauce. All the items use the same teriyaki type flavor sauce so all meats and veggies have the same flavor palette. The fried rice didn't have enough soy sauce. The appetizers were under cooked. The filet was tough to eat. Chef also didn't have 2 order of scallops at all. Totally forgot them. So 2 of my guests were super disappointed they didn't get their food. Chef is very nice and made a big effort. Some of the activities are too lengthy imo not every single person needs to come up and throw the egg and not every person want sake squirted in their mouth constantly but that's just me. We again had to help with clean up and carrying items down ourselves. The dishes were then also 100% our responsibility. I was then asked for payment on the spot in preferably cash, I paid Venmo so that makes payment $30 more?? Dinner for 8 Ended up costing $770 when I thought it was around $560. I reached out to the company twice to ask for a credit for the missing food and they have ghosted me completely. I find the term "catering" overall extremely misleading and wish I would have known more about the process when making my booking.
