Terrible food, not sure what had happened to this place but used to be great, a few weeks ago we went in for lunch and my wife ordered the ribs dinner, got 3 little ribs that was no bigger that a thumb and 2 sides, she got Cole slaw which was great and mashed potatoes that was fair, me, so we tried breakfast one morning after that and grits was nasty, hot cakes was so big that the syrup was running off of the plate and I had a plate of deep fried home fries that had about 10 home fries on it, what are they doing, counting them. Pretty good! Not a whole lot of choices over here but Kay's was definitely not a bad idea! I got the chicken finger sandwich with the macaroni. The chicken sandwich was perfectly crunchy. Really yummy! The macaroni lacked any flavor so I used a lot of salt but what can you do. The medium sauce (the one not taped with yellow or red tape) was really good! Definitely recommend that one! I ate breakfast here without high expectations and it was better than I expected. I just ordered the standard 2 egg breakfast, however it came out fast, bacon was crispy, eggs were cooked as requested, and coffee tasted fresh. I recently went to Kay's Bar-B-Que for the first time on Labor Day. Kay's was recommended by my boyfriend and since I had never been we decided to give it a shot. I love trying new places. Service - A+. Our server did an excellent job. We were a party of 4 and were greeted and seated immediately. She was prompt, informative and very friendly. Food - C. I wasn't very impressed with the food. I ordered 10 of their smoked wings in their "hot" sauce. I am a huge wing lover and Kay's wings didn't win me over. Tip - their "hot" isn't hot/spicy at all. Tried a new place for lunch today...I know, they don't serve lunch until 11:30 so we ordered breakfast. With a name like Kay's BBQ and Steaks I had high expectations. I opted for the Old Tyme Pit Ham. Hubby ordered the pancake platter and added eggs and sausage. My "home fries" was approximately one red potato and cold. My ham was store bought and sliced before they soaked it for flavor and warmed it up (at least that's what it tasted like). Glad that hubby ordered more than the pancakes (waitress warned us that the Belgian waffles were frozen and often complained about) they were barely palm size. Everything had a warmed up feel to it. This is definitely not upscale if that is what you're looking for... the sign outside and the building are old and need an update, as does the overall interior. With that in mind, the service was excellent. The lunch portions were plenty at a great price- most entrees were $10 and came with two sides plus two pieces of garlic toast. They do not serve alcohol which was disappointing. I ordered the beef brisket with coleslaw and potato salad. I got 4 slices of brisket which was tender and tasted great. The potato salad was great too, homemade. The coleslaw tasted a bit off so I didn't eat but others liked it. This was easily the worst BBQ I have ever had. The brisket was grey and absolutely flavorless. No smoke, no seasoning and awfully fatty. Not even the overly sweet BBQ sauce could help. The Mac and cheese tasted like...nothing. Unless bland is a flavor. The best thing was a side bag of ruffles chips. If not past closing this all would have gone back. So I'm gonna go out on a limb here because the last time I was here was deeply disappointing. I happened to stop by Kay's yesterday after an event. I dont know what they changed here but dang the barbeque was spot on. The ribs were tender, cooked to perfection , and basted just so lightly, pig heaven! The barbeque chicken was fall off the bone tender and sauced just right, chickalicious! The sides, I sampled a few. Corn on the cob was tasty. The bbq beans delicious. One of the best mac n cheese I have had in the area. Yummy vinegar slaw. Potato salad which will make you beg for more. Now I've lived in Cocoa all my life and not once have I stopped in to give Kays BBQ a try. Woke up Sunday morning and was craving steak(I know, random) and logged on to Kay's website and saw they offer steak for bfast. Called up my best eating buddy and we met at Kay's around 8:30 am. Paula was our server and asked is for our drink orders. I remember someone saying they have the best sweet tea in town, so that's what we ordered. Paula asked "do you want these in Togo cups?" Found that funny but i would find out why she asked later. Opened up the menu to see they offer two different types of steaks for bfast. For $15 I ordered the ribeye, extra seasoning cause I love a well seasoned steak. Paula brought out the tea and after one sip, I knew I will be wanting some to take home lol. Steak came out with your choice of eggs, potatoes or grits and type of bread. I chose the house potatoes and was very pleased. You can tell they are homemade with bits of onion. The steak...not steakhouse quality but it was well seasoned and tender. My friend ordered two meals to go and paulas timing was spot on that they were ready by the end of our meal. Will I be back...now take this with a grain of salt, after I ate here the very next day on FB I saw pics of the kitchen and coolers and how Kays really doesn't do a good job of cleaning. This place was recommended while I was in town for a class. I went during the lunch hour 12-1pm and it was pretty packed. Took awhile for the waitress to even come bring us drinks. She even forgot one of the refills we asked for. I ordered the pulled pork and it was saturated in oil! I had to ask for a separate bowl so I could put the meat in it just so that I could put my bbq sauce on it. The pulled pork was bland and definitely needed more seasoning. The seasoned fries were the only thing that was good. My friend ordered the brisket and said that it was bland and dry. It seems like it's a local mom and pop restaurant that all the locals attend. Kays features barbeque meat that I have only located in Florida. It is lean without the fat on brisket beef that most places serve and I am started to liking it much more. Haven't been here in years. I must say, we were pleasantly surprised! The guy that greeted us was very friendly. The place seemed very clean. They immediately asked what we wanted to drink and brought it quickly. I had a mushroom swiss burger that was fantastic! Quality meat cooked as I asked. The fries are a different cut than usual and again, fantastic! Wife had the bbq chicken with fries and fried okra. The okra was extremely fresh tasting and cooked perfectly! The chicken was a little dry. Not totally dry but just a little but the taste was great. The waitress was super attentive the entire time. Had a craving for some brisket today, so I called in a lunch order. The lady informed me they were out of brisket, but suggested the sliced BBQ beef instead. It was fantastic. The platter with Cole slaw, baked beans and some large pieces of garlic bread only ran around $8-$9. They also went the extra mile in asking how lean and rare I wanted the beef. This place is so convenient for those of us who live in Cocoa and has some really killer barbecue for a great price. Go get yourself some! read more

I saw lots of cars in the parking lot and a sign that said BBQ. Went in and there was a party in the back room and one man having a late lunch or early dinner and about 5 or 6 waitresses standing around. My wife and I both ordered BBQ sandwiches, Took about 15 minutes for our sandwishes to come out with a package of potato chips. The BBQ was floating in a vinegar liquid of sorts seperate from the toasted bun. I assembled my sandwich and encountered a long black human air on the firt bide. Remover the hair and took a bide of the sandwich. It was probably one of the worse BBQ sandwiches I've ever had, and I have had many. Opened the sandwich and poured one of two available sauces. Took another bite and it was still one of the worst BBQ sandwiches I've ever had. It was worse than bad. Kay's was one of our favorite places for breakfast. I used to work there years ago, and loved their biscuits. Our friends, knowing how much we liked Kay's bought us a gift card for our next visit. Expecting a large number of guests at our hall, we placed an order for takeout. I loved their baked beans! Unfortunately, we found a LARGE PIECE of aluminum nearly the size of a dime, and definitely not foil. Finding a bone or other food piece would have been okay, but this was not the case. I called the restaurant and asked for a manager. After an extended hold time (about 8 minutes) the girl who answered said the manager was TOO BUSY to take the call; didn't offer to take my number or anything. So I reached out to them via FB Messenger on May 25, and told them of my concern, providing a photo of the OBJECT we found IN THE beans. Their representative assured me they'd "MAKE IT UP" and asked for the order information. I provided the date, time, and payment information and waited a week for a response or refund on my credit card as the amount exceeded the gift card value. I would've been happy if they just refunded the cost of the beans. NOTHING. I followed up last week, and although the read the message, they failed to respond. I am genuinely surprised at their lack of response. Restaurants survive off good food, and even better service. How they handle things when something goes wrong is everything! For the area it's ok. Nothing special or fancy, average food with average BBQ menu. I was alarmed to see a server holding a tray with food items touching her hair, perhaps they could do better by having runners or other servers help run big tables so they don't overload the trays. This is my favorite Bar-B-Que in Brevard county Fl. The Brunswick Stew is by far the very best I've ever had. The smoked Pork sliced is my go to sandwich and it's excellent with or without their in-house sauces. You won't leave there hungry either, their portions are large and good. The service from the moment you walk in is excellent, so if you're in the area stop in and have a bite. You will not be disappointed I can tell you that. I'm an international touring comedian, so I've had the opportunity to eat at thousands of bar-b-que places all over the USA and in other countries. This was an order I received as a to go/pick up order. First on the order was baby back ribs, more like baby burnt ribs and beef jerky. These were the worst ribs ever! My ribs were so burnt I barely got any meat off of it that I could pick through. Second got corn on the cob that totally had no flavor unless you call water a flavor. Third also got Mac n cheese, these people or the cook doesn't believe in seasoning anything. I think he made it with the corn on the cob. The baked beans were decent. Will never dine there again....I ordered a dinner for two and the ribs came out like ribblets instead of ribs. It was a take out order so when I got home and looked into the platter it looked like someone cut the ribs in half! They gave you four small little pieces! I called to complain about the portion sizes, so the manager said they had to call the owner to get anything compromised! Which means the mgr has no power! They say they don't do refunds by the way! So never again will I support this local restaurants for BBQ! I will go to sonny bbq... Where they will give you regular portions and not charge you for table scraps! Behind the counter were two females (long blonde hair and brown hair with glasses) neither stopped for a second to acknowledge us. Last night I went to Kay's to order some food for take out. I was standing at the little window a younger black girl took my order she was very nice and polite. However there was a older white lady with long blonde hair that turned her back toward, there was also a younger white female that had her hair in a messy bun. When I asked if I could have a unsweetened ice tea the older lady said yes, while her back was towards me. She never got me the drink neither. So when my food was ready the younger blk girl gave me my order for the food. I asked her for a unsweet tea two. When no one would give me a unsweetened tea while I was waiting for my order to be prepared. I eneded up just telling them never mind on the unsweetened tea because I wanted a drink when I first arrived because I was thirsty. Then I get home with my food which was the icing on the cake as to why I will never go back again. I ordered the 2 meat combo dinner with 2 sides. My boyfriend order rib dinner with2 sides. For some reason they only have my boyfriend 2 ribs and 2 small side for $15. My dinner combo was only $12 and so change. For some reason my sides where larger than his. Not sure why they waitress was so rude or the food portions where so little for a rib dinner but I will taking my money somewhere else from now on. read more

My wife, my oldest, my youngest, our niece and her daughter all joined our church group for dinner at Kay's last night. They sat us in the back and then the fun began. Overall, I have to say everyone enjoyed what they ordered. It was interesting to note a couple of folks who walked away feeling a bit 'meh', but for the most part I think most walked away happy. My own experience was with their pulled pork and it was good (not spectacular or the best I've ever had, but good). They served a nice sized portion, homemade BBQ sauce, and a plenty of beans and coleslaw I chose for sides. My wife had their mushroom bacon burger, without the bacon, and it was so big she couldn't finish it. The oldest had a salad she enjoyed, the youngest along with the niece had a different burger (I forget exactly what it was) which they couldn't finish either. The little niece had the kid hamburger she ate right up (the kid's got a good appetite.) The service was really good, I thought, considering there were so many people and everyone wanted something or other. Two gals that kept up with the iced teas, endless requests for one thing or another and were good sports when we tried to get them to sing for us. No complaints there. This is one of those places I've seen for so long, talked about going to, and was finally glad to do so. We're thinking of going back soon, but try them for breakfast instead. read more

First time here. Building on the outside was larger and newer than I expected based on the reviews. Very busy which is always a good sign. Very prompt hostess, seated right away (it was noon) and friendly, fast server. Food: New Brunswick stew delicious with slow cooked taste. Barbecue sauces were all excellent but can't describe them by saying sweet, regular, or hot. My favorite is closer to the mustard kind which has more vinegar. Sliced pork was tender and juicy. We have been ordering take out from this restaurant for probably 20 years. On my last visit to pick up our order, not a single member of the staff was wearing masks. The food was excellent in the past, but lately they act as if they don't want to be interrupted, and you always have to check your order. One time ordered 2 chef salads, got home with nothing but 2 boxes of lettuce. Won't be going back, ever. There are too many serious barbeque businesses in the area to bother with this one. read more
