The vibe here felt just like the pubs in Dublin. Chris provided excellent service from start to finish. Our main reason for choosing this Irish pub was the Guinness--we had just returned from Dublin and wanted to compare. The moment we walked in, the ambience was incredibly inviting and instantly transported us back to Dublin. What truly sealed the experience was seeing live TV footage from in front of Temple Bar in Dublin--it completely caught us by surprise and made the experience feel authentic. Now let's talk about the beer. The Guinness tasted just like it does in Dublin, which was honestly shocking in the best way. We found out they take extra care by cleaning their tap lines frequently. In Dublin, because of the volume, lines are cleaned every four days; here they're cleaned weekly--and that attention to detail truly makes a difference. I also tried the Black Velvet, which was perfectly balanced and paired beautifully with my meal. Next, the food. I ordered the smash burger with bacon jam and habanero, and it was absolutely off the charts. So flavorful, incredibly tender, and honestly restored my faith in burgers. I didn't have room for dessert, but I did take some home--the homemade bread pudding. I couldn't resist. I'll be enjoying that later with a cup of tea and will gladly give a follow-up review. Thank you, Hogan's Irish Pub, for taking me right back to Dublin. The service, food, atmosphere--everything was outstanding. You truly have something special here. Amazing service and even better food. The entire pub sampler came out steaming hot and fresh and everything was excellent. This place was a legit Irish pub in Cocoa. They have their own parking lot and has all indoor seating. There is a few tvs with a live webcam feed of Ireland you can watch while there. The service was great and very helpful as we thought they were on our pub pass, but they were not and it was our mistake. But the bartender Tara texted her manager and everything just to make sure! Also because we visited on a Tuesday it was Tasting Tuesday there so you get a free shot sample of a random whiskey. Yesterday's was High West Campfire a very smokey smooth whiskey. Reminds me exactly of Ireland (but less sticky tables and overall cleaner haha) Really unique decor, and they even have a live stream of Dublin being shown on TVs I appreciate the different events that they have weekly, so there's always something to look forward to. When we went on Tuesday, they had an open mic night and there were probably 4 to 5 people who had signed up to perform - all were really good! Ordered the $10 fish and chip deal that they had going on which is a perfect amount (4oz fish) when you're not too hungry. The fish was well breaded and tender, and the coleslaw was really good. Okay after multiple visits I must admit I'm a fan. I love the atmosphere that exudes pure Ireland vibes. A long wood bar to the right as you enter and plenty of booth and tabletop seating to the left. During my visits I've ordered their Irish Mac N' Cheese with blackened shrimp (an additional $3.00 up charge, $16.00), their Irish Banger Mac N' Cheese ($13.00), and their Irish Pub Sampler consisting of a small serving of Guinness Beef Stew, Irish Banger Mash with Gravy, and Cottage Pie ($20.00). Everything's good here, but I really, really, really like their Irish Mac N' Cheese with the blackened shrimp! (Try it!) You can get a pint of traditional Guinness Stout on draft ($7.50) or opt for Smithwicks Irish Red Ale (my favorite, $7.50) for your cold Irish beverage. They also have many other drink options, and half pints are available too ($5.00). Every employee I've encountered has been pleasant, friendly, and helpful. One evening while I was visiting, a large screen tv was streaming a live cam of The Temple Bar - one of Dublin's oldest and most popular Irish bars. How cool! Such potential... in fairness, I came to Hogans a few times after they opened and after a few disappointments decided to stay away and hope they got better. Fast forward I was really wanting pub fare so gave it another shot. I'm sorry to say it was worse than I remembered- they were out of most things I asked for, beef stew was so full of black pepper I couldn't eat it and was served with a stale tasting dinner roll instead of the brown bread it used to come with. Couldn't get utensils/napkins as there was ONE person in the front serving the bar and ALL the tables. Crazy. Really is a shame since it's such a cute, cozy place. Upside- beer was good. If it were possible, I'd drive the two hours out of my way to eat here daily until they kicked me out or locked me inside. Incredible ambiance that provides the feeling of a warm hearth, with the lighting being akin to candles even with the afternoon sun trying its best to blare its way past the dark tinted windows. Definitely has that American feel of an Irish pub, but it's not kitschy. It's authentically Irish-American. Like a nicer version of what you'd imagine finding in Boston. This is the kind of place I imagine being okay with giving myself some kind of organ failure due to not being able to stop eating the food. It's that good. It tastes like your ancestors' passed down the recipe to this bar. It tasted like my own gran was back there making it. My hair turned redder upon eating the sampler, but the bangers and mash were actually incredible. Ans to their credit, gave us 20% off due to being out of baked beans. Guinness stew was piping hot and delicious flavor...baked bread was a store bought small roll - not Irish style bread and butter. Took over an hour to receive our food!!! One waitress serving the whole restaurant and bar. One cook. Five tables of customers and 2 at the bar during Sunday lunch. It all started just great good beer as you should expect. The appetizer are fabulous got the lager pretzel and the roasted Brussel sprouts very good. Order dinner and chose the sampler and fish and chip. We were informed that the sampler could not come with the beef stew or the cottage pie that we could replace it with fish and macaroni and cheese. I said OK. Dinner came and honestly it was very cold. We complained about this and they would just take it off the bill which they did about 50%. It wasn't very busy that night and I seem to think that the staff was overwhelmed with three tables going on, I might give them another shot the food it taste pretty good but it was just cold. Mind you now I wrote two private messages to Hogans thru gmail and FB messenger and no response. Went for dinner. 4 of my family. Arrived at 5:30. Ordered couple appetizers. Took til 6:10 to order dinner. 7pm still no dinner. At 7:15 asked young man running food if he could check on our dinner. Just wings, two Reuben's and hamburger. About 7:25 he brings food. My Reuben inside was steaming hot. Obviously microwaved not grilled. Rubbery thin sliced corn beef like deli sliced at grocery store. Bread falls apart. Couldn't even pick up sandwich to eat Obviously food sitting there and reheated. Wings cold. Our original waitress haven't seen in at least 30 min. Had to ask someone else passing by for bill. We really want to support local businesses but for $128 plus tip this was just terrible from food to service. The owners have done a great job with the space inside but something obviously missing especially since they could care less about their customers experience. This is my second visit to hogans, and the food came colder than the beer! there weren't many people in the place, but the one girl behind the bar had to service our tables as well. Seems like they are short staffed and have run out of food but at least they should serve it hot!! they adjusted the check, it was disappointing but I will give it another try.
