The lower yough trip is a great option for beginners who want a little thrill. The rapids aren't too intense and it helps with a guide in the raft. The communication was great throughout. Our guide was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and on top of the responsibilities of the tour. This is a great activity to push yourself, but not in a way that you will regret it the next day. A great time had by all! We didn't spend as much time on the river as we would have liked to, do to some upcoming reservations later in the day, but now that I have gotten a taste of it I am dead set on going back as much as I can. We started by heading up the river, but there are much more scenic views down river. Cruising down past the stadiums than over to the point to get a victorious picture of me hoisting my oar in front of the fountain. Such a wonderful way to see the city. Since we were on a tight schedule there wasn't much time for relaxing so it was basically nonstop paddling. This is a serious upper body workout. Heading back up the river was challenging at times, but still so much fun and a great workout! Can't wait to go back.

Our tour guide was Garth, and he was excellent. His knowledge of the river was extensive, and I loved that he sometimes gave us the "easy way" or the "hard way" option (always the hard way!). He is known for his corny jokes, of which there were many, but he could use a little work on his positive reinforcement vocabulary (nice paddling team! looking good, Amy! etc.). He was very patient with us, though, especially considering we had one team member doing his own thing quite a bit. We did the Lower part of the Youghiogheny River, which is Level 3, with a few Level 4 rapids, and it was an absolute blast. The river is gorgeous, with beautiful views in every direction. I bought a picture online afterwards because I could not resist having a memento of such a great time. I would absolutely use this company again for a white water rafting trip.

Yes, you read that correctly, we surfed on a river in Pennsylvania. Ian's skills in surfing, SUP and teaching produce an experience you will never forget. We were on surf boards "catching a wave" and SUPs navigating the river and when we tired from that we let the river current and eddy take us on a relaxing ride. Ian had everything we needed from booties to helmets. He made all of us comfortable from the moment we met him and assured us we would be safe, we'd catch a wave and have fun doing so; he was right on. A few days later we signed up for the SUPing on the Allegheny River with Ian. Paddling around the Allegheny islands all the way to a large dam. Pretty darn thrilling. Ian's knowledge of the area made the trip educational as well, who knew there was so much to learn about the Allegheny Islands. What could have been better: communication about what to bring or not to bring (yes to a way to secure your glasses, no to water bottles or a dry bag for water /snacks /sunscreen); where to park (across the bridge near the beer store or at the public park); and that the "snack" after the trip is a full meal (pulled pork, hot dogs, sides). The restroom-changing facilities are fairly primitive on site (women's side includes a single curtained toilet, single shower stall, a chair behind a screen, and an open area with a bench, a chair, and an uncovered window that overlooks the take-out site). What was great: the emphasis on safety, quality materials, communication between the team members, THE RAPIDS. My favorite one was whatever one we had just finished. I never buy the ride photos, but I did this time because we wanted to commemorate a great afternoon, and to reward the team for good work. Two fit 70-year-olds were able to do this with their 30s to early 50s children. Can recommend!

They told us all about Wisp's best kept secret which is their water rafting. We watched them pump water into the course and walked around exploring what we were about to do. Mike was our guide on the raft and made the experience EPIC. He was super friendly and made sure we were having fun the entire time. Seriously Mike and the entire staff make you feel like you are a part of the gang. To not come here and experience rafting at the top of the mountain with Mike and the rest of crew of Adventure Sports are fun memories and experiences missed out on. I cannot praise these guys high enough. 10/10 Will return! We booked our raft with Mike the day before because the spots fill up fast.
