I first became acquainted with "Kayak Ant", aka "Ant", in his role as the training coordinator for our kayaking club, the Tampa Bay Sea Kayakers [TBSK]. I'd already taken a couple of his classes that he taught to members and was impressed with both his demeanor and breadth of knowledge on all aspects of kayaking, to include paddling technique, gear, safety considerations, marine communications, etc. When I learned that this retired Marine also did kayak repair, the decision of whether to leave my two boats at a shop or be present while the work was performed at our home and learn the why and how it's done was a no brainer. I was so satisfied with the entire experience, and so happy with the outcome: a complete skeg overhaul, the sealing of three bulkheads, replacement of bungee lines, seat adjustment, advice on hatch covers, plus incidental instruction on a variety of paddling issues throughout our session. Kayak Ant is the consummate professional that you'd want to help you with your paddling equipment; I recommend his services in the strongest way. read more
