Kaya Korean Restaurant Review
(3/5)
Established: 1993
Ambiance: Outdated, in need of renovation, lacks warmth and vibrancy.
Service: Decent but not particularly fast or remarkable.
Food Quality: Average, with small portions and unimpressive banchan (Korean side dishes).
I recently dined at Kaya Korean Restaurant, a long-standing establishment serving Korean food since 1993. While the restaurant has a couple of branches, the interiors seem to have remained untouched over the years, giving it a dreary atmosphere that could benefit from an upgrade.
What We Ordered:
Kalbi Jjim (₱390) - Korean Braised Short Ribs
* Instead of hearty, tender chunks of beef, it had thin beef pieces with minimal meat on the bones.
* Portion size was disappointing.
Beef Dolsot Bibimbap (₱380)
* Served in a hot stone bowl, which gives that nice crispy rice at the bottom.
* It was okay but nothing standout.
Japchae (₱320) - Stir-Fried Sweet Potato Noodles
* Slightly oily but flavorful.
* Portion could be bigger.
LA Galbi (₱730) - Korean Short Ribs
* Well-marinated but not the most generous serving for the price.
Overall Verdict:
Kaya Korean Restaurant is a budget-friendly option, but it lacks the quality and generous portions found in other Korean spots. The banchan (side dishes) were limited and underwhelming, unlike the refillable, varied selections offered in other Korean restaurants. If you're craving Korean food on a budget, it's an okay choice--but if you want authentic, satisfying Korean cuisine, there are better alternatives.
Would I rush back? Not really.
