Our piano had been long neglected and our boys used chop sticks to hammer on the keys, like in the Disney movie "Aristocats" chipping the ends of many of them. Cristine Kay came over, gave a very reasonable price to replace the keys, clean out all of the dust and give our piano a double tuning. It now looks and plays like new. I have a sensitive ear for tone and Cristine took the time and patience to tune it perfectly. She has a really neat (and expensive) application which helps her get the pitch dead on. We have a Kawaii upright piano which has not been tuned for a while, a couple of the keys were a bit stuck. Christine tuned the piano and fixed the problematic keys April last year, And it played beautifully again. Recently, the damper pedals are making slight noises and was affecting at our piano practice. Christine came and tuned our piano and fixed the problems yesterday. My daughter was so happy that she was able to play and use the damper without noises after the tuning. She said it was easier to control dynamic when she practiced. Christine came here to tune my piano after a move. She had worked on my piano several times in past years. My piano was barely out of tune. I just thought that after a move it should be worked on. She had a meltdown here and after 2 long visits left my piano completely off. It was not just out of tune, it was off. I had several well known tuners come here to try to get it back the way it was and I spent hundreds of dollars in the process. She caused me such anguish because I am an accomplished pianist and I could barely play my pianofor months because it sounded so horrendous. We never were even able to exactly figure out what she did. It finally got somewhat fixed by the fourth tuner. I should have taken her to court but it would have been hard to prove. And I know other pianists who were also very unhappy with her work on their pianos. She should have closed down her business after what she did to me. Go anywhere but to her. Call the Guild or get a good referral. She does not even deserve one star here. read more
