I am a Mr Puffs fan. Blame the fact that there's one roughly seven minutes away by car from my…read moreworkplace. I tend to go there after work once a week. Being on vacation, I have missed my homebase of light and crispy puffs. Last week, I was at Lansdowne Park and noticed this Mr Puffs. I was excited. However, I wasn't craving them. Maybe that was a good thing. The same thing happened to me today when I found out that Rockland has a Mr Puffs. Okay, how come Markham doesn't have good stuff like Mr Puffs? I digress. After spending several hours learning about the southern part of The Glebe with my friend after getting a similar tour four years earlier (yeah, I'm on Olympic time, folks), I felt like a cold drink. I remembered that Mr Puffs has iced teas that I like, so I walked over to this store. It was busy. There was an entire family ordering what looked like three packs of 30 puffs and a bunch of ice cream dishes. Naturally, I knew that my thirst would not be quenched quickly. I am patient. Perhaps too patient for my own good. I stood there waiting for someone to take my order for five minutes. There were two male staffers handling both the puffs and drinks. They were definitely short on staff for the demand. One of them was nice and came over to take my order. I got an iced peach black tea. I like that it's only one size and that it has a hint of sugar. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and my transaction was done. I then waited for my drink. The wait was at least ten minutes. Frankly, I lost track. The family ordering puffs galore did cause a backlog of orders. I was thrilled when I finally got my drink. I thanked the man and happily left the store. I slowly made my way to Whole Foods while sipping my drink. It hit the spot. It was such a hot day that a cold beverage made things cooler. It tasted consistent when comparing it to the previous drinks that I had at the Dixie location. It's my favourite iced tea drink out of the lot. I was in the area last night, but Mr Puffs was closed by the time I left to head back to the hotel. Maybe it was a good omen to not down a box of puffs so late at night. I hope to return and try some puffs the next time I'm in the area. Hopefully, it's not as busy then. (228)

Also support local We got 1 strawberry sundae + 1 chocolate sundae (unfortunately that one didn't make the cuts since we devoured that within seconds). The vanilla soft serve is SO incredibly good?!! Like wow. It's super soft and creamy- miles better than DQ. The young lady at the window was also super sweet and friendly! They also have a patio section with a few tables and benches & lots of variety on their menu! Do note that their sundaes come in only 1 size (which is pretty decent! Not too small and not too big, leaving you feel guilty afterwards. It's just the right size!) I will definitely be back to try their razzles next time since I've heard great things about it

Brett's Ice Cream is a little ice cream shop in Kanata. It's been around since 2013 but I only…read morelearned of it recently. It's a little shop with basically just a window where you order. It's a strip mall with an auto body shop. Not the most picturesque or romantic place, but the ice cream is good. You pretty much need to eat it in the parking lot (there are a few benches) or in your car. My husband and I went during the Phase 2 re-opening amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, but I don't think they had to change their practices much because they were always takeout only with no place to sit and eat. There was absolutely no line up when we went on a Sunday afternoon in June. My husband is a traditionalist so he got a medium chocolate vanilla swirl in a waffle cone. It was $3.25 for a medium and an additional $0.75 for the waffle cone. I wanted to try their flavour burst which is flavour swirled into the ice cream in unique way (see photos). I got a small vanilla cone with cherry flavour burst. It was $2.25 for the small cone plus an additional $1 for the flavour burst. I enjoyed my cone. The ice cream was creamy and the flavour burst added a nice black cherry flavour to the cone. It wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet which was nice. I really want to try the Pina Colada flavour burst next time. Note that they only have soft serve ice cream. No hard/scoop ice cream. They do have milkshakes, slushies, slushie floats, sundaes, and Razzles, which are like Dairy Queen Blizzards or Mc Donald's McFlurries. Service was quick and courteous. I'm a huge fan. It's a bit of a trek to get to Kanata for me, but I would come back if I was in the area or planning to so other things in the area. Free parking in the parking lot that is shared with the auto shop.

There was a steady stream of customers, but the line moved smoothly - as smooth as their ice cream, perhaps. While I enjoyed both flavors I selected, I did learn quickly that some combinations work better than others. For example, my lime leaf and mint completely overwhelmed the vanilla inspired flavor. The person I was with ordered a different combination, and the man at the counter said, "That's a really good pairing." If they can figure out a way to advertise which flavors work really well together alongside the list of flavors, that might make experiences even better.

But I wish the signage had been there in the first place. Even looking past these aspects of the experience, I just haven't been impressed with the actual cinnamon buns. They come in an awkwardly small box, and the plastic silverware on premise is far too flimsy to be used effectively. Eating a cinnamon bun should be the best part, but struggling to eat it really sours the experience for me. And then it didn't even taste very good. I think I won't try it again.
