The atmosphere is rich with local charm and friendly conversation, and the moment stroll into Gravediggers, you're immediately aware that you are in a real pub, not some Temple Bar tourist trap. My bartender was friendly and poured one of the best pints of Guinness that I have ever had. As soon as I took my first sip, I knew that Gravediggers was home. Yes, it was a bit of hike get to this temple of Guinness goodness, but I would gladly do it again... and will the next time I'm in town.

It's next to a huge graveyard and was established in 1833 so the gravediggers could have a place to talk and drink their favorite beverage. There are two sections one is for drinking and the other is for eating. The folks there were super friendly as we first had a pint of delicious beer then we wandered to the food side. The service was excellent as I had the potato soup which was delicious and cheap. My wife and daughter split the Irish rolls and they fell in love with them. It was a great experience and I would definitely highly recommend anyone in Dublin to visit this place. This place is for anyone looking to have a pint of reasonable priced beer and delicious reasonably priced food plus the allure of the graveyard and all of its many different gravestones.

Fantastic non-touristy pub with live music and great bartenders like Carlos who make the afternoon…read morememorable. Don't just go to Temple Bar when in Dublin. In fact skip that and venture out. This is very close walking distance to Jameson, so a great after distillery experience.

Know what you're getting into before coming here…read more My girlfriend and I were jonesing for some Irish music done by the locals and were told all around town this was one of the places that has it on a regular basis. Upon entering it was pretty packed, and my girlfriend and I were searching for the live music and where the band was going to set up if indeed there was going to be live music. Now here is where it gets funny my yelp friends, when we searched the outside bar area and still couldn't find it, I went up to the bar and asked one of the bartenders when do the musicians arrive and his reply was, " they are in the corner over there playing already." The three-person band was playing very softly and in the most far-reaching left side of the bar hidden away. You could not really hear it and when I say the place was jammed pack with people near them, I am not joking, we could barely see them. I had half a beer here as my girlfriend and I weren't in the mood to stand the whole time to music we could barely hear. I appreciate that this is an old bar that people frequent, kind of reminded me of the dive bars in Philly to a degree but just know what you are in for before coming if this is the bar you ultimately choose for a night out. As always people SYOY!!!!

The live music that started at around half ten was decent enough but we found it impossible to hear each other properly as it was so loud so we felt pretty put out having come here for a girly catch up. Suffice to say we don't stay for too long. Alcohol prices and service were average and I didn't feel there was a huge amount of character or warmth to the place. The crowd were a strange mish mash of locals. The pub just didn't come across as somewhere I could be comfortable in for the night and I wouldn't rush back to it in a hurry!

ANNYYWWAAYY.... This was not how I felt about the entertainment in the canal bar. The guy singing was so good that I didn't even realize it was live. I genuinely thought someone had put a Michael Jackson CD on. Dude should be on the X factor or something, he was fantastic and was great for interacting with the crowd Bar staff were great (although I'm being biased because I play football with one of them), but they were very friendly and made an awesome cocktail for my GF. (I'll post the picture after I steal it from her instagram). Drinks were pricey, but I'll definitely be back again
