I also developed glaucoma and cataracts in middle age, so the choice of an eye specialist is very important to me. About 3 years ago I switched to Dr. Park after reading the rave reviews from scores of grateful patients online. Until then, I had been going to a different specialist for about a decade for regular checkups on the glaucoma, but I didn't feel comfortable trusting him with cataract surgery. I always felt like he was trying to rush me into cataract surgery without spending time explaining the procedure to me. Well, one of the first things I learned after visiting Dr. Park was that my eyes are super dry; so dry that if I had cataract surgery then, it would not have been successful. After years of using prescription eye drops I recently underwent cataract surgeries two weeks apart, and I am very happy with Dr. Park's work on my eyes. I have mono-vision meaning that one eye is set for distance and the other eye is set for reading. I got a Toric lens in one eye to adjust for astigmatism. I can now see clearly, and it is amazing how much brighter everything looks now. I am truly grateful to Dr. Park for her skill, and caring. Also, Maggie and Leslie in Dr. Park's office did a fantastic job going over all the logistics and making sure I got the necessary medical clearance from my primary care doctor before the cataract surgery; and ensuring I ordered in time the medication I would need after the surgery. I feel like knowing who one can trust is the biggest hurdle when it comes to health care. I am very grateful to Dr. Park, Maggie, and Leslie, and I highly recommend Dr. Park's practice.

I have changed optometry offices over the last several years because I have not been satisfied with…read moreany of them. That all changed today. A few weeks ago, I called to schedule an appointment. I was told I should complete the patient form online and bring it to my appointment. This morning, on the day of my appointment, I received a text message an hour before my appointment instructing me to wait in my car when I arrived and to call the office. Erika answered my call and said I could come in and to knock when I was at the office. She brought me back to do the initial intake and and the pre-exam tests. I have major anxiety when it comes to the air puff test for glaucoma. She was patient as I had a hard time keeping my eyes open as I always blink like crazy. I asked if it was ok if I lifted my lids to keep them open. That seemed to work. At one point, I actually let out a faint scream because I was startled. Once we were done with the pre-exam she brought me to a room to wait for Dr. Vicky Wong. Dr. Wong was very thorough in explaining what she was doing during the exam, the test results, and with her recommendation since I mentioned that my eyes have been irritated and dry. She suggested that I look away from my monitor during the workday every 30 minutes and to blink. She also gave me a prescription for Xiidra eye drops to use for six months which should help to produce real tears. I was offered a sample and discount card. Note: Allied Pharmacy is conveniently located on the same floor of the building. I had to schedule another appointment to come back to have my pupils dilated to finish the eye exam as I wouldn't be able to see very well for two hours afterwards and I had to go into the office today. When we were done, Kim Barnhouse, the Office Manager, assisted with the payment and scheduling my next appointment. When I got home, I noticed that my state of residency on my receipt and prescription reflected MA and not MD, so I immediately called the office and Kim corrected them both, had the prescription encrypted, and emailed both files to me. If I had any issues with receiving them, she offered to fax or mail them. Sharon Pollack assisted with adjusting a pair of sunglasses I have as the frame had gotten loose. She suggested if I leave them in the car that I shouldn't because they can get warped. She said I could come back any time to have them tightened. I can't say enough good things about the staff in the office. They are an all-star team and the epitome of customer service. I have never experienced this level of service before from ALL the office staff. Everyone is professional, personable, and helpful. I am certainly going to recommend them to anyone who asks. This will be my long-term optometry office from this point forward.

I went back to him when I felt I was going blind and he dismissed me with having dry eyes. I say this not b/c I want to say anything negative about him or his practice, but to hopefully help others who, after having cataracts removed, need a simple and easy fix. Luckily, I trusted my gut and sought another opinion and found a doctor who told me I just needed laser surgery to remove the clouds behind my lenses in the eyes. What a relief after thinking I was going blind. Unfortunately, Dr. Hammer has lost me as a patient. My eyes are great now, vision restored and I want others to know that if, after cataracts are removed, your vision is blurred, there are successful options. BTW, I called Dr. hammer to discuss this with him, but he never returned my phone calls.

LOL First, and foremost, Dr. Hendrix is an expert in his craft. He is efficient, knowledgeable, and most importantly leans on the conservative side. I started seeing him in the late 90's when I had virtually no issues with my young eyes, and been with him as I went through middle age, with floaters and now glasses, a corneal injury and several other maintenance procedures (i.e., removing concretions), and allergies. He sometimes spends more time talking you out of doing something rather than doing it, but his advice has always been spot on. He talked me out of a YAAG floater surgery which later turned out to be more controversial than the doctor peddling it was making it seem. His office staff is very hand-picked. They lean towards being more reserved and paced, and everyone is friendly. The front desk can at times seem abrasive, but there is a heavy load on them and once things quiet down they're very friendly, and very helpful (especially on forms, payment, etc). The exams can and do take a long time... but they are VERY comprehensive. It was his office that gave me my first OCT exam, plus a few other firsts. All in all, he's THE eye doctor that everyone in my family goes to now, including emergency cases. The wait is definitely long... but if you have a more convoluted or sensitive issue with your eyes, definitely don't roll the dice with just anybody. Forgot one thing: Dr. Hendrix started out in an older smaller office back on Rollins ave in Rockville, but he's since moved to this new Tower Oaks location. The new office is top notch, comfortable and easy to get to from all points north or south of Exit 4 on 270... along with plenty of parking and space to fit patients as they transition between tests.

I went to Dr. Herz for an eye exam. I thought I might need glasses. She did an exam that was…read moredisputed by the two people who have done eye exams with me since. She did not include the usual information that's necessary to order anything other than simple glasses. I know she is an eye surgeon, but still, one should do high-quality work in all parts of their practice. She didn't. I was annoyed that I had to go get another eye exam and I was reticent about paying her. She sent a $45 bill to a debt collector. I don't think I have ever heard from a debt collector in my life. This was so embarrassing and inappropriate over $45 that she does not deserve. Be careful she's probably a good surgeon but I advise you to be careful.
