Juggling all the different pieces was difficult for me from afar, and Kaia was able to streamline and simplify, ask questions to clarify, and was clearly very strong at coordinating a lot of moving pieces. We wired a slack guitarist, Paul, who was so sweet and totally knowledgeable around the history of music on the islands which my husband and guests loved. While he claimed to be back ground music which could be totally fine for another party, we so enjoyed giving him our attention as it was just so pleasant while we enjoyed our cocktails and settled into the groove of the night (We hired White Ginger for catering, also recommended!) The one fire dancer, 2 drummers and 2 dancers performances went off without a glitch, and the performers were gratefully adaptable to the space, as the rain and winds were a bit tough, so they had to move creatively within the space, which they did, with grandeur and integrity. I was so pleased, and have every reason to put my fingers together for another manifestation for friends and family! We were an intimate group of 6 adults and 1 fire dancing loving child, and it was all just right (even if we wished others were lucky enough to be in attendance - they would have been a great combo for a 20 person or more party easily!)

WOW!!! What an incredible luau with great food and friendly people…read more Smith's is a family-run luau and they put their heart and soul into what they do. We started in their pristine gardens and heard about the history of Smith's and learned about the traditions of Hawaiian luaus. After we transitioned to the dining area for open bar and the luau feast. The luau feast was INCREDIBLE! I went up for seconds and my husband went up for thirds. The roasted pig was his favorite bite of the night, while mine was the teriyaki steak. We both loved the rice pudding for dessert, as well as the coconut cake and fresh fruit. We saw amazing dances and heard the history of different influences on Hawaiian culture. Overall, it was a fantastic night and it was a great first luau for us.

We stopped in here on our first day on the island to check it out since we were shopping and I'd…read morebeen thinking about upgrading my ukulele. We met Lucky and he was very helpful and friendly. He was patient and answered all my questions. He also let me try out several different ukuleles. I found out they were having a killer sale and they also would ship the instrument to my home back on the mainland. I told him I'd come back prior to our leaving the island. When I returned, Lucky was there as well as Sam, the owner and Lucky's dad. Sam was super cool as well. He answered more of my questions and showed me many options. I knew I wanted to upgrade to a tenor ukulele since my first one is a soprano. He was willing to honor the sale for the soprano ukuleles for the tenor I picked. I honestly feel I got an amazing deal for a beautiful instrument. I chose a ukulele with a Sitka spruce soundboard, ebony fretboard and bridge, gold pearl block inlays and around the head with the Kamoa diamond, walnut head and spalted maple backsides. It's gorgeous! He had several of the model I wanted, and we were able to get me the #1 edition of that model. I think he said only 12 had been made for the year. Score! They also took the time to lower the action on the fretboard so the strings were set closer. We jammed a little and then Sam and Lucky played for me as well. It was a really great experience! Shipping was super quick. My ukulele was delivered the day we got back! I love it! Thank you, Sam, Lucky and Kamoa!

My wife hit all the designed clothes with Marta and Ambrose showed me around his shop and projects he is working on. How he is playing with resins and evolving with them to create new work. Amazing stuff. He knows more about the water and surfing and how it relates to life than any other person on the island. Was a true pleasure netting them both and learning some new things. Bought a few things to take back to the Midwest and some new friends on the Island.

On First Saturdays, local food trucks and vendors come. We had delicious smash burgers from Smith's food truck and lemonade from a local vendor. There were a lot of local artists selling jewelry, clothing, and other art pieces. Locals come from all over the island, including a family parading their classic cars! Come early to secure parking as it does get crowded after 6 pm.
