This will be a page turner…read more First a synopsis: My first visit to this hospital, to see a patient. Everything I encountered left me impressed! Over the course of several decades; I visited dozens of people, in almost as many Hospitals. So I can confidently write this review based on actual experience and not emotion. From the moment you arrive on the property you'll notice it's well laid out in a logical and convenient manner for visitors, usually family, who are already stressed. There's plenty of free parking near the several entrances. The Security Dept personnel are extremely courteous, professional, and reassuring; explaining procedures and giving directions to the various locations, in a very pleasant manner. The staff at the Nurse's Station acknowledge you when you arrive. Unlike many places, where you could stand there indefinitely while they stare at their computer monitors; without the slightest inkling of proper guest relations. IF, it was the other way around I'm certain these same people would be raging "Karen's"! The food service Dept. delivers meals that are on par with a four star hotel restaurant . There are actual ceramic dishes, no plastic plates or styrofoam glasses, knives and forks like a real restaurant, again no plastic sporks. The tray is artistically set, as opposed to haphazardly arranged. They realize that when you are in the hospital, there's not much else to do; so food is one of those things you can actually look forward to and enjoy. So, after a few visits; I can say everyone I've encountered has been exceptionally professional, helpful, and courteous. It's reflected in the quality of care they provide in every aspect of the Hospital's operation.

Dr. Zalvan's treatment and swallow therapy restored my now 73 year old husband's ability to…read moreswallow. He had a feeding tube after a spinal cord injury in 2016 and had been told by Mount Sinai's Rehabilitation Hospital that there was little more that could be done. Under Dr. Zalvan's care, his swallow was restored and he has been able to eat normally (small bites, lots of water). He continues to see Dr. Zalvan and appreciated the in office video imaging that shows him exactly what is happening with food. Dr. Zalvan is a wonderful, caring Doctor who takes the time to explain things in detail.

Then he planned to perform an in office nasal endoscopy. Note: I've had my nose broken a few times. Resulting in some narrow airways. He proceeded to test his route even after I told him it was just too painful. Mind you I was not numb or given anything to help ease the discomfort. Which mounted quickly. And he didn't really seem to respond to my requests for mercy. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. Polished sure but clearly in this case more interested in his billable procedures then his patients comfort.

When I was at 41 weeks with no baby we scheduled for induction. I saw many of the friendly face at Phelps I'd met over the last 9 months and Dr Spriyda was there to help me give birth. My whole experience with the practice and giving birth I felt so taken care of, and with any questions or concerns the doctors were responsive. If you are pregnant and looking for a good team of doctors and place to give birth- this is it.

Dr. Ades takes time to sit down with you to discuss what is bothering you and he will not prescribe medications or other medical tests unless necessary. He does not rush you out of his office and I find him very easy to talk to. One good thing about Dr. Ades is that from September to May he has Saturday hours that alternate ever other week, and that is a huge help since I cannot always take off during the week. One comment, I will make is about the "examination gowns" they do not look as if they are fresh out of the bag - honestly, with so many germs out there I would like to see a stack of gowns either in a clear plastic bag or have them pressed and neatly stacked on a shelf. That is the only comment that is not favorable, otherwise I would refer Dr. Ades to all my friends &a family.
