Katy's catered my wedding rehearsal and wedding reception. Granted the first wedding planner was a flake so I had to find all vendors myself at the last minute. We had taco and tamale bar for rehearsal. It was overpriced for what we received and the beef was greasy ground beef. I first thought she made the tamales which were delicous but after the wedding reception I realized she probably purchased them and charged me to pick the up. The wedding rehearsal dinner was way over priced. She charged me $50 for a "iced tea station" which was a pitcher of tea that came from a plastic jug like the one i purchased a publix for $2. This is just poor business practice. The sushi came in a box from Rouse's and I was charged more than it would cost to get it from Rouse's (her pick up fee). The first esitmate I received included server for my rehearsal and 2 servers for the reception. I told her I didn't need a server for the rehearsal and I only needed one for the reception. Due to covid we only had about 20 people. She charged more for the small group. When you might pay $23 per person she charged me $30. That was the first issue but I was desparate to get a caterer and she knew it. I amended the estimate to tell her I didn't need a server for rehearsal and I needed only one for reception. I kep asking for an edited estimate but didn't get one with the changes I requested. I had to pay cash because she doens't take credit cards or venmo. We ended up paying $50 more for our food than before the changes and still only had one server at reception. We paid for two nad only had one. On wedding day she came back to bring reception food and pick up utensils and dishes from night before. Fortunately i had someone supervising and she noticed Katy herself rinsing utensils to be resued for reception without any soap or any kind of disinfectant. Gross! My attendant went and retrieved soap from the other kitchen to wash dirty utensils and dishes Katy was going to use again. When I addressed the $50 pitcher of tea she was flippant and rude. All she had to do was refund the tea. I can see several reviews with 5 ratings and I wonder how long ago this was but again I also see many reviews with similar issues as mine. Simple refund for services I did not receive would be acceptable and this review may have been much higher. What a disappointment. read more

They provided multiple meals over several days and were reliable, hospitable, and served good, quality food. They also took feedback well and made adjustments based on the preferences of the group. While vacationing in Orange Beach with a group of friends, we decided to have a private chef at our condo. From start to finish, Katy's Catering was a pleasure. We looked over the website for some menu ideas and then called Kathleen for suggestions. Warmed by her southern charm, we immediately felt we had made the right choice. She was quite familiar with the condo we were staying at, as well as available serve and cookware, thus she was able to do all the cooking there. We started with cheese and crackers and a delicious seafood dip while we enjoyed listening to her and watching her prepare the rest of our meal. Everything we ate was a delicacy. We enjoyed stuffed shrimp with cocktail sauce, barbecued shrimp, scallops, rice, green bean bundles, salad and beef tenderloin with both hollandaise and béarnaise sauce (simply because we couldn't decide.) Both were equally delicious. We topped off the meal with banana's foster with vanilla ice cream. There was so much food, we enjoyed most of it the next day. I would never do business with this woman! Katy's Catering contacted our company about purchasing a refrigerated trailer that she purchased from a mutual contact. She explained that she no longer needed the trailer, and that she was interested in selling it. The trailer had a generator mounted to the unit. After delivering the unit, and upon the inspection by the warehouse manager, there was no generator. After trying to contact her with no answer, I called from a number not connected with our company and she answered. She told me that the price we agreed upon was not including the generator and she told me that is did not work and was in the shop(THIS WAS NEVER DISCUSSED). I was referred to this catering company as an honest company that had been in Business for over 38 years. What I found was that as I overpaid by $450 as a single mother paying for my daughters wedding, Katherine chose to ignore my request to return my money to me saying she would provide a check, when she came to the wedding to cater it ran off at the end, did not introduce herself to me and actually had the nerve to tell me that I told her that I would not be present at my own daughters wedding reception stating she would issue a check to me the following day. We will see if this actually occurs. She took pictures of my decorations at the reception and posted them as this was her set up with my items that were purchased and my daughters friends that were finishing setting up the reception. I would rate this company a zero if I could. I never leave a bad review, but this company stole from a customer and I wouldn't want anyone to be taken from in the future. Kathleen and her sister catered my daughter's wedding reception on the evening of July 13th, 2013 and did an absolutely outstanding job! it was a small affair of about 30 - 35 people, but Kathleen drove over to the beach house in Ono Island, AL the evening before to conduct a "walk-thru" and to discuss any questions that she had. Kathleen catered my husband's birthday party. We are snowbirds from Michigan so I had to find a venue and caterer. I finally decided on Katy's Catering and she was a tremendous help. We had fish on the menu and I didn't know to much about saltwater fish. She suggested red snapper and it was a hit. Everything she prepared was so good and my guests also commented how good it was. The food was great but the service was not. They showed up on time to our banquet but forgot a necessary item, therefore, that made them leave to get the item. This caused our event to run behind and we had to change our already made agenda. Even though we paid per person they took all the leftover food back with them. Why would we pay for food that we were not allowed to keep? Finally, after the event I called to have somethings taken care of and was very rudely taken care of. Unfortunately I would not recommend this company to anyone who is thinking about using them. My wife and I recently got married in Orange Beach and chose Kathleen as our caterer. We live 8 hours away and chose a beach wedding for our destination wedding. Having a destination wedding is difficult when both people work full-time, and you can't just leave every weekend to make sure every detail is followed through. We hope that someone else who is in need of a helpful review finds this. We set a date to come down there (me, my wife, and some close family members) to meet with Kathleen and sample the food. The food she prepared for us to sample was amazing. I just wanted to stay and just eat this delicious food. No kidding. After devouring the food and making small talk, we confirmed with her that she will be our caterer and look forward to working with her. Fast forward to June, and our big day has come. My wife and I arrive a week early to pay our vendors, complete last minute details, and just make sure everything is going smoothly. I touched base with Kathleen, but she assured us everything was up to speed, and that she looked forward to our event. Boom, we are married, come strolling into the reception venue and the food smells delicious. We are starving and ready to eat. The moment of truth, the anticipation you've all been waiting for... the first bite. Disappointed is the word that comes to mind. All of the food that we tasted back in November seems like a dream. Most of the items that were supposed to hot, were cold. I was really looking forward to the beef tenderloin on biscuits, but the bread was so hard that I couldn't even finish one. The spinach artichoke dip was so cold, that I forgot it was supposed to be originally hot! Why were our food items cold you ask? Sadly, out of all of the food bins, they only had one burner going under the mashed potatoes, for our mashed potato bar. I was also told that we would have servers behind the food tables that would be helping place food on our plates, that didn't happen either. No assistance pouring drinks either. We covered these details and were assured that servers would be readily available to help us and our guests with food and drinks. That's a negative, ghost rider. Another disappointment in the staff was that they took the food away too early. We invited our pastor and his son to the reception and he arrived at about 8:45 (we didn't get there until 8 mind you) and the servers were breaking down everything, and he had to ask if he could still get food. So embarrassing. I understand you have to break down, but thirty minutes after we start eating? I'm a hungry man. I saw a microwave in the kitchen so I was prepared to grab a plate and reheat it myself. I paid a lot of money for food, cold or not.... I was prepared to get something out of it. Another disappointing occurrence that we did cover with Kathleen, was if the servers would package up all of the food for us. We even asked her if we needed to bring anything (containers, lids, etc.). She assured us that the servers would neatly package everything for us to enjoy during the week. Sounds good to me... Shocker, this didn't happen either. I do not consider putting food on flimsy paper plates "neatly packaging food for the week". Imagine me walking to the condo pushing a cart full of paper plates with food on them. The plates didn't even have wrap on them or anything. My dad went to the store to get something to cover the plates with. Half of the food wasn't even placed on plates. They were left in the disposable containers that they were served in, and the servers threw away the lids! Not to mention they left all of their food boxes thrown about in the kitchen that we had to clean up. As any hungry groom would do, after we got back home and settled in, I sent an email to her saying that we did appreciate her working with us, but there were some areas of concern. She was apologetic, but informed me that what I reported and what her daughter reported were two different things. No shocker here. I did ask her in the email if there was anything that she could do to help offset some of the disappointment. I understood that, most likely, nothing would happen, but I thought it would be appropriate for me to ask, the worst she could say is no. Her first reply was on July 3rd, and I replied back the same day asking if it were at least possible for her to refund the $300 deposit. It's currently July 23rd and I haven't heard back... In summary, if I had to do it all over again, I would not choose Katy's Catering. If you live local an are able to travel easily to meet with her and discuss things, that may make things better, but for us, it left a bad taste in our mouths (pun intended). read more
