My family and I were staying in orange beach and were looking for an Italian place when we came across Portabellas. Let me tell you, it's worth the 25 minute drive from orange beach. I got the 5 cheese pizza and it was one of the top pizzas I've ever had. The sauce was amazing, the FIVE cheeses tasted great, and the dough was crispy and delicious. There's only 12 tables inside, but we did not have to wait to get seated. The service was great and the owner personally brought a kids menu and a bucket of crayons to my son so he could color. Great food and amazing service. Our server Hannah was very knowledgeable and fun. She suggested a great wine and even brought us a taste of another bottle. The food was very good. We had the Magnolia Springs Pizza and veal piccata. Both were excellent. The piccata was perfectly balanced. It's great to see a little hole in the wall mom and pop restaurant here in Foley. This is a VERY popular spot in Foley, AL and it alway seems jam packed. This is a smaller space but it does have nice vibe to it. They are only open for dinner which starts at 3pm and then depending on the day they close at 8pm or 9pm. When I arrived right at 3pm they already were jam packed but I fortunately was able to grab a table two days in a row after failing to get a table multiple times when I showed up around 5pm and 6pm. The owners are originally from New Orleans so that immediately let me know I was going to be in for some good food. I sampled soup, pasta, pizza, a sandwich and their dessert. I was happy with all of the food and only have a minor issue with the pizza as it is more of a thick crust and I prefer thinner crust pizza. The service was attentive and took good care of me. They also offer specials which they will post on Facebook sometimes. Overall I like this place but having to arrive so early to get a table throws my dining schedule off. read more

Lasagna was very bland no meat. It was like eating cheese and noodles. Piccata had no flavor, soaking in cheap oil with very little meat that was like strips of I don't know what. Only thing she did well was keep our drinks full every thing else was poorly done! They were 4 adults a baby in a carrier and a 22 month old which we did not order a plate for. They charged us for a party of 6 on the tip because we used two tables!!!! My husband and I made our way to Portabellas this past Friday while we were in town. We arrived close to 4pm and were immediately greeted and seated by the lovely hostess. The place was very quaint and offered an intimate environment. My husband opted for the lasagna and Caesar salad. He wasn't crazy about the salad dressing but he ate every last bite of his lasagna! I had the 5 cheese pizza and it was absolutely delicious. My husband sampled my pizza and wants to order pizza the next time we are in town because he also thought it was fantastic! We both had a garlic knot with our meals and those were delicious as well. I ordered a side of Alfredo sauce to dip my garlic knot in and I thought it was pretty flavorful. It had a gravy like consistency. Between our meal and sharing a bottle of wine, there was no room for dessert but we hope to make room for that next time! Our first time there...We were shocked at how small the place was (I think I counted 12 tables) we were greeted & seated promptly by a very friendly hostess. Unfortunately our "table for 2"mwas right beside the entrance door, so we were quite cold the entire time we were there. Our server was very efficient, but not friendly in the least! I don't think she ever cracked a smile! We told her this was our first time there, she could've cared less. Even told her we were celebrating a birthday, as was the person at a table beside us. Again, no response from her. We ordered the stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer, which was excellent. I had the veal Marsala...I was not impressed with the taste at all. My guy had the angel hair pasta which came with 4 large meatballs smothered in a rich marinara sauce...he said the meatballs were very good & would possibly order again. Each entree came with a small garlic knot. Both of our salads were an extra charge. Even though they were the same exact salad, we were charged $5 for one & $7 for the other!?? We splurged & ordered dessert...we chose the salted caramel cheesecake..it was outstanding! If go we back, we hope we don't get the same server.. We shared cannelloni was amazing. Pizza had more meat than I've ever seen in any pizza. Very small hole in the wall place , may have 10-15 tables crammed in there and the kitchen is open style . The food though did not disappoint!!! If you choose the make your own pasta bowl the only two pastas they have are penne and angel hair, I like linguine but it's my preference.
