I attended Katy ISD from 1st grade to 12th grade. From 2008-2020. There is a serious bullying problem at this district, and teachers and administrators do not care, in fact they will join in. If your child gets hit by another kid, the school will punish your child. When I went to beck jr high I was jumped by two kids while walking home. I defended myself and was given 3 days of ISS. The people who attacked me were given a stern talking to. While I was attending cinco ranch HS, we had a girl attempt to take her own life due to bullying, the administration put her in OAC ( extended in school suspension in a different school building) I personally was called the slur for queer people several times by coaches and administrators during my time at cinco. I was given detention several times for talking back to staff after being called slurs or reporting bullying. If you want to sign your child out of school, the administrators may retaliate by giving your child detention or an in school suspension. This happened to me and several of my friends. They have weaponized school resource officers who target students the administration doesn't like. They'll often try to intimidate students into admitting to things they didn't do, just so they can remove you from the school. However, if you're part of the athletics program they will cover up any illegal activities, up to and including SA. There's plenty of scandals that have happened here, many of which you can find published online. Their superintendent bullied another student to the point he attempted to take his own life, then laughed about it during a meeting. As teacher myself, I would never send my children here. Running a district and educating students can be quite tough. However in this district it's not just incompetence but malice that causes these issues. Overall, I'd look elsewhere for schools for my children. North Houston has much better districts. read more
