When scheduling appointments, appointments are often weeks away...and the receptionist was not helpful at all. When asked about appointments, she had a rude attitude and absolutely did nothing to help. Caused a ruckus with another guest. Service hurt, and the X-rays were absolutely the worst. Waited a long time, and when I finally saw the dentist, all I got was your teeth are all good and to floss often. I thought nothing of it, but despite days of visiting, I had issues with my gums and bleeding. i kept postponing my dental cleaning for almost 2 years due to my complicated pregnancy and being busy with the newborn. finally it was time for cleaning. I'm so glad I discovered dr.Chau 's office. Since I'm diabetic I tends to get build up faster than anyone else. My trusted friend highly recommended Dr. Katy Chau 's office. Unlike other practices where they will exam you first and reschedule you another day for deep cleaning visit. Dr. Chau 's office actually have hygienist on site and can work something out with you base on your needs. So convenient and I very much love the feeling of a family owned practice. The staffs are welcoming, sincere and friendly. This office was in a popular plaza and easy to find parking. If you know me, Im a bit of dental phobia.. I had bad experience with my childhood Ortho which made me very cautious when it comes to dentists but Ive learned the hard way not to neglect a good teeth cleaning or else the sneaky cavities will catch up, eww! Someway somehow George my hygienist was not only able to take away my fear for sharp objects, during cleaning he made me feel relaxed I almost fell asleep. I enjoyed good conversation with him. He was very kind and attentive. I was told he had a nickname " gentle George " lol I can honestly see where that was coming from. He was gentle , pretty skillful compared to my last hygienist and most of all Now my teeth looked and feel sparkling cleaned. My gums did not swell at all afterward he was very very thorough with the cleaning. I had no pains after deep cleaning and that's impressive. Thanks gentle George ! He also didn't make fun of me of how much plaques I had builded up on my teeth since it's been so long. He made me laugh when I felt nervous with pointy objects in my face. now my fear of coming to see a dentist is not so bad anymore. I'm actually looking forward to keeping good oral hygien and my next visit to Dr. Chau! Highly thanks to George for making me feel comfortable and great cleaning experience. 1st DENTIST! Everyone in the office makes you feel like family

DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! When I decided to start my braces process I decided to call in January I called and called all they way until July when they finally answered. They had me come in for a consult and first she told me insurance covers 1,500 she also told me I would have to get 4 teeth pulled! Then she said I would need only 2 pulled! THEN she said I only need 1 pulled. We made and appointment to get my tooth pulled on the 8th of July at 3:30 and a week later get the braces they called at 12 to cancel my appointment because they hadn't ordered the braces. If they hadn't have canceled that appointment I would've been toothless for a month. Then they said in order to order the braces they had to check first if the took my insurance and she told me insurance covers 750 AFTER telling me they cover 1,500. They remake my appointment for august 30th and cancel AGAIN. When I got fed up and went off they told my grandma and I that "I need to understand that that's not how it works" they tried to gaslight me as if they didn't forget to order the braces. They rescheduled my appointment for my tooth to get pulled for September 12th. My stepmom called to ask about the Insurance and sure enough insurance does cover 1500 SCAMMERS. Then they called me today august 31st to cancel my appointment and told me that dr.chou is primarily a dentist not an orthodontist and that they are sending me elsewhere. They had me get my X-rays and everything I would need just to send me somewhere else ALREADY knowing dr.chous schedule. Complete idiots wasting my time. Never going there again, will forever talk negativity about their "business". Idiots!! read more

I've never had a "bad" experience going to the dentist nor have I dreaded going to the dentist...but Katy Chou DDS, you sure have changed my mind. I had made a switch to this practice because my beloved dentist is not in my new insurance network. I called up Katy Chou's office to schedule a routined cleaning, and they tell me the wait the closest appointment time was a month away?! What!? This office is closed on weekends, which I thought is unpleasantly inconvenient for a lot of us. I made an appointment anyway and spent 15 minutes past my appointment time in the waiting room. The dental assistant took my x-rays, and I had to hold the machine because it wouldn't stay put in certain angles. I thought that was fairly unprofessional. The equipments looked run down, as if they haven't been replaced in years. So Katy Chou finally showed up after another 10 minutes with my X-rays. She told me that I need to floss regularly and my teeth looked fine. I was then told that I need to schedule ANOTHER appointment for the cleaning. What...?!? Thanks for the heads up people. I was told that they can't anticipate what type of cleaning I would need since I was a "new" customer. Well, that's just dumb. I went back to the "actual" cleaning appointment yesterday and was not pleased at all. I was greeted by a male dentist who works at the office. I refer him as the "male" dentist because I don't know who he is as he failed to introduce himself to me. I thought it was extremely unprofessional on their part to "pass" me off to another dentist without telling me. The actual cleaning took about less 20 minutes. He left pretty quickly after the cleaning and didn't bother walking me up to the front. I don't NEED to be walked, but I think it is a nice gesture. No one likes going to the dentist, neither do I. When I was a kid I didn't care if they gave me balloons, or candy or toys. I just hated going. I was looking for a dentist closer to where I lived as well have having flexible hours. They are open late I think one day a week and even open on saturdays! (She has two offices both in the same area) That makes it so much easier to set up appointments without missing work time. In regards to the treatment, Katy is very informative as to my choices (since I was getting a root canal, I had to figure out what kind of cap to use) and gave me the pro's and con's of each one and also her recommendation as well. and ultimately it was still my decision, unlike some dentists where they don't even really give you a choice and do whatever they feel like if you don't ask. The equipment was new with the newer quick less radiating x-rays and small lcd tv to take your mind off the pain hahaha. Of course i'm older now, so they don't give you toys. But they do give you some useful toothbrush/ floss as a going away present haha.. I recommend my friends and family to go here and they have all liked their experience. read more

I have had a couple of bad experiences here. First time I came in for a routine check up and cleaning. I had to wait for an hour before I was worked on even though I had an appointment. Katy performs the exam and tell me my Teeth are all good. Warning: They'll try to upsell you to do the deep cleaning even though it was not necessary. Then there's the guy who cleans my teeth. Katy's Husband. He says the weirdest things trying to make small talk. I appreciate how he was trying to be friendly but he comes off weird and at times offensive. This is typical when a spouse is hired based on nepotism and not experience. The second time I had to wait forever again and their office hours are not very accommodating. My Wife also went to them one time for a routine procedure and almost lost her tooth by them grinding on it improperly. Good thing she noticed and complained went to another dentist to have the crown fitted properly and have not had a problem since. From my experience with them, the other poor reviews of them are accurate. I won't be back. read more

Katy Chou and associate dentist failed on 2 of my root canal procedures and damaged my teeth and induced infections and refused to compensate. I have spent $1500+ more and more in the future. I even have to re-do my root canal and cure side effect and pay extra costs. Obviously she has very severe ethical problem. Dr. Angela Huang is a good dentist. I am in the health profession and yes I noticed this office having extra charges for myself and my wife. I know that our visit in Sept that I did not get any Xrays, but I was billed for them. This office definitely has very aggressive billing practices that if it was a hospital, regulators would take a second look. Otherwise staff is pretty friendly. read more

The last time I came in (which actually turned out to be the last time that I will ever be going here), I had the first appointment of the day and still had to wait over an hour for my appointment. When the dentist came in, he didn't bother apologizing. Then after my cleaning was completed, he looked at my file and said that he noticed I wrote a negative review on Yelp and that if I don't want to continue coming here that I shouldn't. Best advice I have gotten! So thank you, I will not be returning! This is a horrible experience. My sister had complete oral exam there before, and she took me with her, because I am a dentist. I told Dr. Chou that I did not agree the treatment plan, and I would love to discuss with her. She gave me bad attitude, and I told her that I want my sister to transfer the X ray. She gave me a lot of excuse that she could not transfer xray. I was so pissed, so I told her ""by law, you have to..." Finally she agreed to email me X ray. The clinic I worked was far, and that's why my sister wants to go to the office close by. I would not recommend this bad attitude dentist. I would never ever treat my pts like that. read more

Worst customer service ever. They didn't take the time to look the account up during a routine office visit and said I was not covered. I left confused and called my insurance and they said that I was not only covered but I was also on their list. I called to inform them and they realized they had put the wrong birth date in. They didn't even bother to apologize. They were short and rude over the phone. I had trouble understanding her because of her thick accent so I kept saying excuse me and she said I need to let her talk and that I was rude. I told her that I was having trouble understanding and she said I need to ask her to talk louder. That wasn't the problem, I was having trouble understanding her because she didn't speak English. Worst customer service ever. The Dentist herself is very professional and it's sad that the customer service was so bad that I am looking for a new dentist. read more

I was referred to Dr. Katy Chou's dental office by a friend and I have been going to them ever since. Both Katy and George and very professional and experienced despite they look incredibly young. They have very flexible hours so I can make appoints after work or on Saturdays. There are 2 offices which are less than 2 miles from each other; both are very nice and clean with new equipments; they even have TVs in the operating rooms and you can request to watch Food Network which is a big plus. Office 1. clean, organized, plenty of magazines and tv to watch in her waiting room. 2. the week of my appt, they call and leave me a message reminding me of the dates/times Staff 1. Office manager, Shawn always greets you with a warm smile. She is patient and respectful. 2. Dental assistant, Lupe is always the one that works on my kids. 1 of my kids is always in and out of his appointments; no problem. My other child is extremely anxious and afraid when it comes to getting dental work done. He will ask a gazillion questions as she's trying to work on him, in hopes of delaying the process, but she is never short with him and takes the time to explain everything in hopes of putting him at ease. 3. Dental hygienist, George is excellent. He is efficient, thorough, and professional. Procedure--this is what really impresses me, keeps me returning, and leaves me wanting to tell everyone i know. 1. Before bringing my sons to Dr. Chou, I had taken them to a very highly recommended pediatric dentist thinking: this is what parents should do, right? Long story short, I was told I needed extensive work done on my child. I felt I needed a second opinion. We went to see Dr. Chou and I'm so thankful I did. She gave me an honest analysis of his x-rays. She recommended that he be put under anesthesia in order to have all of the work done at one time. She recommended an anesthesiologist that she works with and I chose to have the procedure done. 2. Anesthesiologist. We spoke extensively before the procedure. I was worried, unsure, and had plenty of what-ifs and questions. He answered them all. The day of the procedure, he showed me his equipment and the different monitoring devices to help me understand how my son would be monitored and kept safe. 3. The anesthesiologist and staff came out to the waiting room and kept me updated throughout the entire procedure. This definitely put me at ease. I was very pleased with my decision to take my children to see Dr. Chou. Her calming soft nature and matter of fact way she talks to kids, explaining what she's doing and what to expect is the perfect match for my child. I have been to her Concourse Dental office, the Hacienda Heights location, and even one in the Lynwood--area. I think she also is out in the San Bernardino area now as well. read more

Called in for a last minute appointment at 9AM on a Saturday and said they can squeeze me in at 12:30PM. Went in and got out by 1PM. Service was quick, great, and very professional. Got an x-ray and my bi-annual cleaning. The x-ray tech lady was super nice. Maybe even too nice. Not even joking, in between every photo, they kept comforting me and asking if I needed a break in case it hurt. Dr. Chou examined my teeth and mentioned that my back (chewing) teeth had deeper than normal grooves and to brush them carefully in a back and forth motion. I've always noticed food getting caught in there so I find it interesting that none of my previous dentists ever told me that. I appreciate the attention to detail. George did the cleaning. Guy's a pro. So good/comfortable, I almost fell asleep during the cleaning. Very knowledgeable guy too. While asking about my dental habits, I asked him multiple questions in regards to what kind of floss/toothpaste/mouthwash/and chewing gum he recommended. Didn't try to push any brand but just told me the what type to get. For example, non-waxed floss because it's more abrasive. And the toothpaste with the little shiny flashy crap to make it look classy? Useless rubber filler that just gets stuck in your teeth. Recommended any sugar free chewing gum with xylotol (I think thats how you spell it) which helps dry out bacteria in your mouth. Never knew there was so many little things to help our teeth...never would have thought of this without him. Thanks George! Already set my next appointment in 6 months. read more

My family of 4 has been with Dr Katy for over 20 years now. Had my implant done with them with great results. My 8 year old and 5 year old are cavity free . No cavities!!!! Can you believe it! George our hygienist is so informative and excellent with kids. My kids love Dr Katy and George. They Call us to remind us on our appointment because you know life gets busy and they accommodates schedules for any emergency. Overall a excellent family practice where people comes first. I had chosen Dr Chou's office for convenience to my residence. Here is a summary of my first and last experience at Dr Chou's office. My filling had fallen out and I went in to get it filled. The 2nd dentist's (not Dr Chou) opinion was that it could not be filled and I needed to get a route canal and a crown. this was the only option given and she never said there was a possibility it might not stay on. nearly $1,000 later and many hours taken off work later, I have a nub for a tooth and a crown that won't stay on. Dr Chou did the actual work for the crown. the crown had only stayed on for only a few months. i flossed per their instructions. i went back in to get a temporary crown which stayed on until i went back to see the dentist. while i had the temporary, i would avoid chewing food on that side. when i went back to see the dentist, the 2nd dentist who originally recommended the crown says my tooth is short and tooth grinding might have contributed. by the way, my tooth never decreased in size besides what they originally did to it. so she added groves and the temporary crown was put back on. this time, the temporary crown stayed on for 2 days. she made it worse. to add insult to injury, after I had consulted with the 2nd dentist about my lost crown, 2 minutes later, her husband that cleans teeth comes over to ridicule me for losing the crown. Dr-patient confidentiality. I don't see any reason for her to discuss anything with her husband hygienist that I've never met before. it was very unprofessional and disrespectful and a slap in the face after I'd paid so much money for nothing and wasted so much time there. I'm not the type to change dentists because of the hassle involved but I just can't afford it financially or tooth-wise. I won't be returning. If I could give them zero or negative stars I would. read more

I recently had a routine check up and cleaning done at this location. All the staff was very friendly and professional. The equipment was clean and the dental hygienist was very thorough. She even noticed that I rode my bicycle to the office. During our conversation, I verbalized to her that my bike was locked up outside down by the market and I felt so paranoid that I couldn't see it. She then asked if I wanted to put my bicycle in the back of the office so I would feel more comfortable. This simple gesture made my visit even more enjoyable. I just want to say thank you to all the staff for being so understanding. Most businesses do not cater to cyclist and don't even have a bike rack outside. Thank you for going above and beyond! The only thing I can suggest is that the staff introduce themselves.
