This may be a dive for some, as we drive from Lees Summit, but well worth it. Not only are the crafted cakes amazing but the care provided here of making sure each customer understands how to care for their cake / cupcakes until they are ready to be eaten as they are helped to place them in their car. Great customer service.

Went here for the first time today and had chili with a piece of peanut butter/chocolate cheesecake. Both were delicious. Will go back tomorrow and try the chicken chili! My new fav keto spot!

    Pretty and tastes even better!

Kat made a beautiful and delicious spice cake for my birthday. My wife tried 6 better known bakeries none of whom would make a spice cake in May. They couldn't get the correct spices or..... Kat even customized it with additional cinnamon. Her hard work made my birthday complete. Will use Kat's Kakery again!

The women working the cashier was very kind and helpful. Absolutely fantastic quality of food and coffee! Our whole group was impressed with everything that we ordered. The stand out was the bacon Gouda sandwich on some phenomenal ciabatta bread. The bagel was outstanding. The pastry case was drool worthy and we'll have to come back to eat through it. Price wise its a bit on the pricey side but worth it for the quality you're receiving. Lots of free street parking available. Note for the cold brew lovers - they don't serve cold brew so be ready with your back up order.

It's small but not too small with the outdoor and upstairs seating. I was quickly greeted by the very friendly staff after walking in. I asked "what's the best thing on the menu if I was never to be here again (I'm a driver and likely won't)" and she said the bacon Gouda and boy oh boy was it good! The bacon was very high quality and so was the bread. The cheese was super melted and made the almost garlic buttery mayo taste even better. I would highly recommend it and would recommend this place!!

Whether tucked into the historic, vibrant bones of Midtown or settled into the polished, sun-drenched sanctuary of Leawood, this establishment is a triumph of spirit and soil. To walk through their doors is to leave behind the weary frantic pace of the modern day and step into a vision curated by the inimitable Robin and her team, who possess the rare, alchemical gift of artistic gastronomic genius. Every dish is a poem composed in color and texture, a testament to the idea that nourishment should be as beautiful as it is vital. The design itself--characterized by clean, confident lines and a minimalist elegance that whispers rather than shouts--acts as the perfect frame for their culinary masterpieces. It is a space that breathes, inviting the sunlight to dance across the table while the soul is quieted by the integrity of the ingredients. I have made it a point of honor to traverse the entirety of their menu at both locations, a delicious journey that has never once faltered. There is a distinct, warm current of Midwest nice here, that quiet, unpretentious folklore which suggests that the highest form of hospitality is to feed your neighbor as you would feed your kin. It is this authentic, grounded ethos that makes Billie's the definitive backdrop for my social life; it is where I bring my friends, not just to dine, but to show off the best of what our corner of the world has to offer. It feels as though Robin has captured the very essence of a modern-day prairie hearth, transforming the act of gathering into something sacred. The plates are vibrant landscapes of vitality, clean and intentional, reflecting a commitment to wellness that never compromises on the bold, adventurous joy of flavor. To sit at a table at Billie's is to feel part of a wider, kinder story--one where design meets devotion, and where the bounty of the land is elevated to an art form. It is a place that feels simultaneously like a well-kept secret and an open, generous invitation to all who seek a meal that feeds the body, delights the eye, and restores the heart. In the grand tapestry of our local culture, Billie's Grocery is a shining, indispensable thread, woven with such care and vision that it turns a simple afternoon of eating into a cherished memory, a landmark of grace in the heart of the Midwest.

The service? Yikes. It felt like the entire staff didn't want anyone to be there. No hellos, check ins, nothing. It felt, well, hostile. My wife ordered a dish with smoked trout, her plate arrived with no smoked trout. After explaining the omission, the food runner rolled his eyes and said "I'll bring you some salmon". I said no, you need to remake the entire dish and this time include smoked trout. Well, she never saw any trout, the dish was not remade and smoked salmon was thrown on the original plate. Also, slick move asking for tips before any service is provided, and then providing god awful service. Well, that is alright, plenty of other breakfast spots to enjoy.

When we told her it was our first visit to the restaurant, she took the time to carefully go over the menus with us (regular, happy hour, and drinks), providing her recommendations when we asked. Her guidance was spot-on-target! For drinks, I had a Mindful Chai and my friend had the 3-Beverage Flight (Golden Hour, Heart Says Thanks, and Tres Raices). My chai was the BEST I have ever tasted (and I order chai every chance I get!), and my friend loved her 3 drinks (she said Tres Raices was her favorite). For our food, we split an order of the Not Queso Dip and the Avocado Tostadas. We were both very impressed by how fresh the ingredients were, and the blend of flavors in each dish that created a unique and yummy taste. The Kitchen has an open, airy layout that inspires deep breathing, while the arrangement and spacing of tables still provides for intimacy of conversation and minimal ambient noise. Sofhia checked back with us several times during our meal to ensure we had everything we needed and were thoroughly enjoying our food and drink (we were!). It was a delightful meal, and we thank Sofhia, the kitchen staff, and everyone at Whole Harvest Kitchen for such a lovely time. We'll be back!!

I read up on GF+1 and saw that they are grain free, gluten free and don't use any refined sugar (I do some baking at home and was intrigued). The cake looked gorgeous and so I needed to see if the taste lived up to expectations. I enjoy vegan food and bakery but I won't cut it slack because it's vegan, it still needs to taste good. With all that said, GF+1 doesn't disappoint, the cake was very moist and tasted like rich chocolate. I saw that GF+1 also sells whole cakes, I would definitely consider using them for a future event. Keep up the good work guys, your doing some great stuff in the kitchen!

Make reservations because they had a two hour wait for walk-ins. For appetizers we shared their burnt ends. Tender and sauced perfectly. For dinner we shared a wedge salad, their mashed potatoes, asparagus (a must!), and their tomahawk steak! Instead of doing three separate steaks we did the one and it was a perfect size for all of us to share! The steak was tender and well seasoned, mashed potatoes creamy, and the asparagus was prepared in a way we hadn't had before - highly recommend! We also had their dessert lemon meringue pie and coconut cream pie! Really really good! Wine options: amazing! Bourbon options: classy! We couldn't give it five stars for two main reason: 1. We made a reservation for 7pm, arrived and check in at 6:50 and still had to wait just over 30 minutes to be seated. We learned that walk-ins had been seated ahead of us so we needed to wait for some tables to leave before we could be seated. This was a bit surprising. We understand waiting a few minutes, but 30 min is not okay. 2. The sweet server assisting us for dinner was in training and we learned from her "trainer" that she wouldn't be getting any of the tips from our dinner. Additionally, the "trainer" came over around 830 to tell us that although it was only three of us that gratuity is automatically included. Very odd that we were told these things during our meal. The server being trained should absolutely get a portion of the tips - we hope restaurant management reconsiders their policy on this especially since we hardly saw her "trainer". We normally tip over the 20% but because the trainer didn't get any of our tips, we opted to not increase the tip that was automatically charged to us. All in all really classy restaurant and food was delicious! We'll be back for sure!

Overpriced chicken, a stellar mushroom side, and an aggressive exit strategy…read more After some custom cocktails nearby, our famished group headed to Rye for some dinner and dessert. The space was nice and clean, but unfortunately, the service and the "famous" main course didn't quite deliver a stellar performance. Our table was split--some wanted dinner, some wanted dessert. This apparently threw our waiter into a state of deep existential confusion. The Food: I ordered their "famous" fried chicken, customizing it to three thighs (which came with homemade pickles and a fantastic ham gravy). For $24, it wasn't bad, but it's definitely not "famous" for flavor--maybe just famous for the price tag. Honestly, I could have filled up at Popeyes for a fraction of the cost. Surprisingly, the absolute star of my meal was the side of sautéed mushrooms. It came with little pearl onions, shallots, and green peas. I topped it with some of my friend's arugula to make it fancy, and it was delicious. The Service (or lack thereof): Here's where it went downhill. The dessert order became a saga. Those who ordered sweets expected them to arrive with the mains, but we had to ask several times just to get them toward the end of the meal. By the end, our waiter seemed completely frustrated with our existence. He aggressively boxed up the remaining desserts and semi-forcefully shoved the credit card machine into our faces to shuffle us out the door. Great mushrooms, aggressive math at the end. Proceed with caution.
