Odd little Puerto Rican restaurant with a nice menu. It was a little on the warmer side and since the entire place is "outside", maybe a few more fans to push the hot air around would have been good. The food was good and it wasn't terribly expensive. I had the empanadillas to start with the filet'ed red snapper as my main. I have a "thing" about my food still having it's head attached, a phobia that my table mates did not seem to share. When the food arrived, it was plentiful and it was delicious and I really enjoyed it. I'd recommend avoiding the pina colada. It was overly sweet and too creamy. Definitely recommend the entire family enjoyed every plate that came out. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture everyone jumped at the good. We did a ton of appetizers to get a little of everything then did the main course for the adults and it was best thing especially if you have children. read more

Upon arriving we entered into their smaller air conditioned area which was dimly lit and had louder music. Luckily the hostess informed us of an additional outdoor (covered) seating area, which was more suitable for our party of 8 adults. Our server, Francisco, was charismatic, informative and an overall sweetheart. He made insightful recommendations (without being pushy), which he promised would be backed by the food itself and it was! His favorite, was the Arroz Katrina, which we shared for the table and it was a crowd pleaser. My husband ordered the fish stuffed with seafood. The presentation was great and the flavor amazing-he devoured it! The wait for food was lengthy (20-30 minutes), however it felt longer to impatient New Yorkers. Nonetheless we survived and enjoyed each others' company (forcibly). Our party was pleased with the food and Francisco's service. All with one exception. One of our relatives claimed his chicken was terrible (yet ate it all!). He even went as far as asking that it be removed from the bill. Francisco looked surprised but complied without complaint (even though he-the server-would have to pay for it himself!). Even when my relative was exceedingly rude to him, Francisco smiled and told me not to worry about it upon my embarrassed apologies. Luckily my husband paid for the chicken afterall, tipped handsomely and apologized for our family member. We hit this place up on the recommendation of others. The wait staff was friendly and prompt but I was not happy with the fish offerings. Let me start by saying the food and portions were good, just the service was super slow. It's a nice place in a popping part of town, so parking can be a little tricky since their lot fills up pretty fast. Try and find street parking a little further away and walk if you don't want to deal with a ton of crowds and traffic. The environment is cool, open aired with a lot of fans and wooden tables and chairs. We had an English speaking waiter who helped us through the menu. He suggested the red snapper and the paella, and so we ordered both with some fried pork (they were out of the marlin). The paella was really good, but the red snapper was only OK. The portions were great, but the only thing hindering them was the slow service - we waited probably 40 or so minutes to get our food, and then didn't have our waiter return for another 40. read more

The fried red snapper was so good! It was tender and very tasty. They give you limes and I squeezed and added to the fish. I would definitely recommend. Make sure to wear mosquito spray since you will be sitting outside and I was bitten. read more

The food here was just fantastic. We ate in once and got carry out a couple days later. If you decide to dine in make sure you aren't in a hurry, it did take a little while. I would highly recommend the mofongo with chicken and the chicken empanadillas. Our kids loved the rice and beans as well. This was some of the best food we ate on our trip to PR. A friend of mine introduced me to his friend who is a local. He asked us if we wanted to eat somewhere by the beach or at a different restaurant- of course we wanted to dine by the beach! We ordered the shrimp soup with tostones, churrasco with mofongo yuca, lechon with yellow rice, and mofongo. The food took a long time to arrive...even our drinks took a while to come. This was a busy spot on a Friday night. The young lady at the entry was not welcoming but we figured she may not want to be working tonight. The drinks were very good. We had a blue margarita, couple of pina coladas and couple of parcha mojitos. I had the mofongo with camarones which was decent. My family had the churrasco and the specialty mamposteao rice. The churrasco was dry. The mamposteao rice was delicious. The server Angela was very attentive and easy to talk to. Great food, but slow service. (3.5 stars) Got out of San Juan to check out other parts of Puerto Rico. We were driving around and found ourselves in Dorado and decided to park and grab lunch. We ordered lobster and shrimp empanadas. The lobster was a little fishy, and the shrimp was good. We got another round of beer since it was a really long wait for our entrees. We got red snapper and sweet plantains, and Mahi Mahi with rice and beans, and both came with creole sauce. The creole sauce was delicious, and it was worth the wait. I can't review the food because I did not stay long enough. After being seated for 20 minutes, no staff came to our table. However they did take orders from several people who arrived after us. The restaurant is full of energy- loud cars pass nearby, families with children. Our tabletop was broken, so even if we did manage to get our food, it would fall off! The staff clearly knew that this was a problem and seated us there. There are many better options in Dorado. read more

Stopped by here for dinner while vacationing in PR. First off, this restaurant is situated on a cute little strip in Dorado where there are a few restaurants and bars. We chose this one based on a recommendation as well as the yelp rating. The food was delicious. We had shrimp mofongo, one in criolla sauce and the other in garlic sauce. The criolla was hands down the better sauce. They gave us a complimentary seafood broth in a small cup. Flavorful but too fishy for my taste. I tried the piña colada as a drink and it was the absolute worst version I've ever had. Not exaggerating. It tasted like coconut milk with ice. Not even the whipped cream could save it. I returned it and asked for parcha juice instead which was a bit bitter. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. It's all outdoors but covered by an awning overhead, so technically you're not outside. There's also a free parking lot a few feet away. read more

Yesterday they tried charging us $70.00 for two skirt steaks. I pointed it to the waitress that the price on the menu was $21.99. She responded price's Gad give up. I'm hoping that I can come back and visit this place and give it five stars... But I came here for lunch one day and sadly... I could only give it three stars. The service, it was great! The food... Was very limited. I thought for a seafood restaurant, they would have more grilled and baked options, but everything is fried, and in my opinion, fried it does not equal healthy. So, if you're looking for deep fried Plaintain's or mofongo, you will find it here. If you want mahi-mahi drenched in butter sauce, you will find it here. They had a parking lot reserved for their customers which was very helpful as the street parking was very full with people going to the beach. The staff was very friendly -- they brought us each a small sample of fish broth once we were seated. The Katrina rice grande was VERY large. It could easily have served two and it was very good. The empanada that I had was very good; I didn't care as much for the mofongo but since this is the only place I tried it, I can't say if that was due to the preparation here or just that it's not my thing. We went hear twice with a lot of family. (16 people) it's not fancy but nice enough inside . It's open air so it can get hot and or "buggy" inside. In fact they offer bug spray. The first night I got a shrimp mofongo. It was ok but didn't like the sauce too much. The Tostones are good and my niece enjoyed her garlic shrimp. Most people seemed slit down the middle of liking and disliking their dishes. The most annoying thing are the fans that blow in your face while eating . That and service PAINFULLY SLOW.
