It was my first time here and was it a nice surprise! We were immediately greeted with a smile and shown to our massage chair. Tiffany was so thorough with my mani and pedi! I had a painful ingrown corner of my toenail (yes gross), and she was so great about not hurting me. She did a shellac pedi and a shellac mani and I am so happy! I decided to see if my initial service was beginners luck and surprise, surprise- it was! I was due for a fill and found they had time to do a pedi as well so I decided to do both. I got seated right away at the pedi tub and soaking comfortably when without notice a lady starts filing down my finger nails, no, 'hey wassup girl, can I start on your fill while she does your pedi!?' Nope, nothing. Then the two techs start having a conversation in Vietnamese not acknowledging me once, not asking how short to cut down my toe nails (she cut them very short) and the gem on my nail fill didn't fix an obvious break and proceeded to add acrylic to the damaged nail and started filing away at them not asking me how I like them shaped! I ended up with very short, rounded toenails and squarish round acrylics. This is not what I wanted and when I told her prior to leave them in a natural square shape, she proceeded to tell me that's what they were! NOPE! I am familiar will all nail shapes from stilleto to coffin or ballerina and everything in between. Mine resembled square with the corners completely rounded off, but semi almond without the pointy tip! WTF! I was so pissed and told her that I wasn't happy! She proceeds to paint my fingers even though she knew that I was unimpressed did such a crappy job that you can see where the first coat brush strokes were! The toe nails were no better, my cuticles had nail polish all over them and the polish was applied too thick. At this point I'm ever so pissed because I know I have to go back home and re-paint everything again! I get up and pay and they try to tack on another $10 for nail polish! Am I fucking out of my mind to think that NAILPOLISH should be included in a nail service!? I question them as to the pricing as it is nowhere on their menu and the one girl says its $10 extra because it's considered a polish change!!! I came in without polish on my nails and proceed to ask, where does it say that? She struggles to find it on their menu and proceeds to look for it on a poster board on which only indicated pricing for shellac and nail art- I say 'listen, I will pay $5 for the nail polish because some places charge that but for you to say I have to pay an additional $5 because it's a 'polish change' is ridiculous-' she gets all flustered and three other girls from the back show up and try to figure out the pricing. There is only one who thinks to call the owner and see what's up- no answer. Begrudgingly she charges me for the fill and pedi minus $5 (I still tipped 15%) and the other ladies are talking amongst themselves in Vietnamese about the posted menu. Am I wrong in thinking that the cost of nail polish application costs half the price of a fill is ludicrous? What happened to the service industry in Calgary! I leave and decide that's the last time I go. I despise it when people try to screw me out of a few dollars- be upfront with me and I will be a loyal client, but fuck with the bull be prepared for the horns! read more

This was fourth and final times ever entering this establishment. I was greeted by three ladies who stared down their noses at me in disapproval (which is hard to do when they are shorter than even me) and watch them nod in my direction while speaking some Asian language and then refused service because they did not inform my mother and I that we needed masks when the appointment was booked. The ladies have never followed instructions for manicures or pedicures and I now have ingrown toenails because ever time they had cut them way to short. I've tied gel nail from them and they are never shaped or the length I like. Even when I came in with long beautiful healthy natural nails and left with them ruined and they broke soon after my visit. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN read more

My boyfriend & I came in to get mani & pedi as they had a special going on. Katie Nail's have very friendly staff but unfortunately they talk & laugh amongst themselves really loudly so it definitely takes away from having a "relaxing" experience. They took their time with my pedicure and double checked if all the dead skin was gone which I appreciate very much. Overall I was very pleased with the way my feet felt & looked. My manicure wasn't the greatest. I personally don't like getting a manicure done while your getting your toes done as it's uncomfortable holding your hands up for so long. I definitely could of been completed better if I was seated in a proper nail table rather than in a the sink where they do the pedis. read more

Employees were nice, nail work is ok, and prices were okay. I got a $40 promotion on a regular mani and pedi ($50 originally). Issues I had that resulted in a subpar rating : there was still leftover nail polish from before I walked in on my toes when they applied the new colour. Unfortunately for them, I picked a nude colour which meant I could see the old orange colour on my toes underneath the nude. I bled in three places when they were cleaning up my cuticles. Not sure if this is normal since I don't do my nails often (this is my third time ever) but it stung so I assume that's not good. And lastly the top coat on one of my nails wasn't applied on the whole nail so it wasn't smooth. Three stars because the lady who was helping me was very nice and considerate, exfoliator and hot stones were used, and pricing was ok. read more

My regular nail lady was on holidays so I booked here for my wedding nails. When I arrived I told the lady I would like shellac ombre clear to white (I have long natural nails) and she told me "no" it could only be done with gel nails. I told her my regular lady has done it for me in the past. She was extremely rude to me and spoke to me like I was stupid. My wedding was the next day so I didn't have a choice to go anywhere else. My grandmother had bought me a gift certificate for shellac nails but since I was forced to get a whole gel set it was $40 more. I will NEVER go back to this salon, I left almost in tears and now have to get gel nails sanded off my nails. (Not to mention they sanded so much there are now divots in my nail beds) read more

But the last couple times My very expensive Gel nails chipped after three days. Its like they put me with the most inexperienced nail tech they had. She missed steps for sure. I found the girl really pushy about which services and colours that I chose... I took my sister for a manicure and pedicure as a birthday gift today at Katie Nail Spa. The spa is very clean, the decor is very open and the equipment was extremely sanitary. They even give you a hot rock massage on your calves when you get your pedicure. It was the best experience we have had. The girls were very professional and kind. It was really relaxing and the best part was that everyone spoke English and the girls did not gossip amongst each other in their own language. The massage chair was amazing, you get a full back massage while getting your pedicure. They also had a wide array of nail colors to choose from. To top off an already awesome experience, the price was very affordable. They have a grand opening promotion right now for 50 % off but their regular prices are pretty cheap. My sister and I only paid $50 for two manicure and two pedicures with the grand opening 50% discount. I would go back next month and every month as their regular prices for a pedicure is only $35 and $25 for manicure. With such excellent service, friendly smiles and a calm relaxing environment, they have won us over as long term clients. If you had a bad experience with nail salons like I have in the past, I guarantee you will change your mind if you give this nail salon a try. read more

I have thought about writing this for a long while, as it has been over two months now and I am still growing out the damage to my nails, I feel the need to say something . I tried out the Katie's Nail Salon when they first opened. The location is beautiful, clean and many in the salon were repeat customers. I was impressed as they had only been open two weeks. They mentioned they had been very busy since they opened and they were all very tried. When I ask for a acrylic fill, l was very surprised and not expecting a fight and the final outcome. I was told that they will be putting on tips (a new set) and that bio gel is better for me . . . again I said that I just want an acrylic fill. With out a word the tech proceed to use regular nail clippers (not the curved ones), clipping my nails at weird angles and cracking the acrylic, she then proceeded to pry off the broken pieces. The tech seemed annoyed that I wanted her to stop and file the nails down, because prying them off hurt. The techs stood up and walked away and did not return. Eventually another tech took her place and asked what I wanted. As they were a MESS, a new set was the only way to fix them. She preceded to file the acrylic off and then when it came to put on the fresh medium, she extended the pink tip to the end of the nail. I asked whether or not that would make the tips pink, she said to not worry they would be white and more natural. Because the old set were pried off, the natural nails were tissue paper thin and very tender. Also my PINK little chichicklettes started lifting after only 7 hours. A week later I picked up some drugstore acetone and soaked them off. Now here I sit, sharing my story after waiting over 2 months for my own natural nail to grow in. Just FYI. read more
