I've known Alex for almost four years now and he has been so professional and expeditious with his response whether it's by phone, email, or in-person. Ms. Minako is a wonderful piano teacher who is very professional and effective with her lessons…read more She pays close attention to detail and musicality in the kids' playing, but manages to not be overly strict or overbearing when teaching them. Since learning from her, they have improved their musical technique and expression greatly -- enough to take home a few medals at competitions. In addition to being a very capable instructor, she is also very open and accommodating towards playing music outside the classical genre. My kids have frequently brought in pop songs and various other songs they find online, and she rolls with it. It's great how she lets the kids' passion for music transfer over to piano practicing, too. I would absolutely recommend taking lessons with Ms. Minako. I've had the pleasure of knowing her for over nine years now (my oldest child took lessons with her before she started teaching at the Academy), and I'm truly glad to have my kids go through her tutelage to become devoted and skilled musicians.

She has also worked with several other elementary and preschool kids that I know on more traditional speech and language therapy, and always does an excellent job. As a fellow SLP and after observing her with my daughter, I often refer others to Chris. I would much prefer to refer to a single clinician than a larger agency, as I know exactly who will be working with the student, and can give my highest recommendation. With the larger practices, I don't know who will see my student, and what their experience is. Chris is warm, kind, effective, honest, and has worked in both private practice and the school system so she can tell you how the two work together and advise you on whether your child could qualify for district services. Although she works with many types of students, she has a speciality in students who are deaf and hard of hearing, and teaches and consults in this area.
