It's a very small church along Kapuzinerweg not too far from Segringertor. We came here looking for a krippe (lit. "crib," it's a Nativity diorama display). This one is very unique with "Oriental" (Middle-eastern) flare (photos) as it's advertised.
The monastery is a former Capuchin monastery and was founded in 1622 by Eva Maria von Lerchenfeld and was built near the city wall on the Russelberg. The simple church of St. Francis was consecrated in 1628, and a cruciform chapel was added in 1729. In 1803 the monastery was dissolved in the course of German secularization, though the monastery church has been used as a pilgrimage church since 1959.
This krippe is great, and if you were in Dinkelsbühl during Advent, Christmas and Epiphany season, by all means you should visit here. You'll enjoy it very much. read more
