The Schonenberg Church sits atop a 500+ meter hill so the first thing that you notice, other than the beautiful church with the funky yellow color, is the view of the countryside and of course the town of Ellwangen, which is below.
This particular church is one of those on the Pilgrim Trail, although not sure how the trail works and which way it goes but in days of old, or olden days, devout Christians would walk to such churches to pray.
Inside it is really spectacular. I particulary liked the nativity scene that is upstairs. It makes you feel all Christmas-sy! The rest of the church has some very interesting sculptures, angels everywhere, and also impressive paintings. The best ones are on the ceiling and since you can go upstairs, you can have a closer look.
