My wedding was in May this year and Kate was our wedding coordinator who can speak fluent Cantonese and English. Boy, she helped tons of tasks on our wedding day that it won't be a smooth and nice wedding without her. She arrived earlier than all the vendors and the last to leave. She helped us pay all the vendors, make sure all vendors arrive, instructed the popup tent staffs where to set up the tents for our outdoor wedding, setup the registration table nicely, give signal for us to walk down the aisle. I wanted the ceremony to start sharp and I saw my aunties arrived just minutes before the wedding start. I saw Kate immediately pull extra chairs for them to sit under the tents which make them feel taken care of. During the family picture time, Kate helped organized so each group would wait for their turn. They reassured us that we would be in good hands and shared their experiences with wedding receptions and the flow-of-events with a 10-course banquet. We got homework a month before our wedding, did one final run-through of the schedule, and they were set. He has NO VIDEO of his ceremony (I could have videotaped it on my phone if I knew). She dropped the ball in so many ways, I can't even list them all on this review. She is not reliable, unprofessional, did not attempt much, feels like you hired an entry-level craigslist coordinator with no reputation. HOW THE HELL DID SHE GET 5 STARS FOR WEDDING COORDINATING?! Is this profile a SCAM? Does she pay for negative reviews to be removed? Does she know what a coordinator is? Or even just the basics of coordinating any event? With 1 banquet area, 2 tables were oddly for another party; they could walk over to the bar for free drinks. //Simple: TOP RULES NOT TO BREAK! TO MEET THE MINIMUM: Only the venues, photographer, videographer, and food need to show-up! (if they are good or not, is out of your control). Banquet venue, and food is by trusted family friend = taken care of. So Kate only had 3 other things to really be concerned about. (meaning she can F* up in other areas, and it could be forgivable as an entry-level coordinator; even though she was hired as a professional lead). //What Happened? #1) FACT: No Videographer. The videographer was unaware of working the wedding, and extremely sadden to hear about the situation later. Story: Kate emailed the videographer, received no response. Kate didn't even know until after the ceremony when the bride asked about not seeing to videographer anywhere. She tried played it off being ditsy, saying opps we can just do the wedding without one. NO APOLOGY! WOW! Not even going to try? We have professional photographers/videographers in the family at the ceremony, who could have helped if you even noticed beforehand?! And no follow-up call, or text to videographer? How are you a coordinator?! Other issue, easily fixed or apologize for: #2) NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. Isn't the coordinator suppose to be physically around, in sight, or easy to contact for anything? The photographer helped the groom/brides' parents with their flowers for the actual wedding ceremony. He had extra pins. #3) NO WEDDING GARTER for the game! Wedding coordinator did not have any supplies or extra supplies. This is an industry standard for coordinators. The photographer had back up supplies from another wedding. He had extra supplies around! #4) TO DO LIST NOT DONE. My little brother's cousins and kids (extreme food allergies) traveled from Seattle. He bought specific sandwich for them. It was on the list to do for the coordinator. The sandwiches weren't event given to his cousins UNTIL CAKE TIME!! They were polite but STARVING! It was not discovered until during the couple's photo op walk per table. My little brother went to grab it for them. I was on that table! #5) HER STAFF DO NOT SPEAK SAME LANGUAGE AS VENDORS + ATTENDEES. This is a Chinese-Vietnamese wedding with seniors and kids. Kate was hired for this background experience. The 2 coordinators Kate hired were not coordinated in outfits, no signage/couldn't even tell they were helping with our event, non-Asians. How are they suppose to communicate with the venue servers whom don't speak English? My mom helped me translate. + Moreeeee ....could go on but not enough room. //Benefit of the doubt? Kate is new to the industry. No experience. No mentor/teacher or manager to guide her. And her coordinating reviews are by friends, family and vendors. This is really the only way I could understand this profile. PS A little refund?! does not bring back a wedding memory via video. No sincere apology = this review and just bad business. Wedding M.C review I come from a very traditional Chinese family where we had to have a Chinese speaker. All my vendors (DJ, florist, coordinator and more) recommended Kate to me. I was very hesitant because the wrong M.C will take over your wedding and take the spotlight away or I've seen some that embarrass the couple. After my wedding, I had friends contacting me for the next few days asking for our emcees's contact information. "Wow your emcee was great! Is she like a cousin or something she seemed like she knew you both well!" "Can I get your emcees contact info?" "What languages does your emcee speak!" I think that alone speaks for how well she did. The only complaint I got from a few friends is that she didn't speak Vietnamese or whatever their families language is so they couldn't hire her themselves. I remember leading up to the wedding, some of the documents we shared amongst each other had spelling mistakes, formatting errors, and even had a wrong address at one point so we were a bit worried. When it came time for the day, her coordinating services really allow us to enjoy our day. All our friends recommended a day of coordinator and I will continue to give that bit of advice. My husband and I hired Kate to emcee our wedding in September. What can I say about Kate that has not already been said?! She is AMAZING!! We only met with her twice. With approximately 300 guests (32 tables) The following were the pros and cons: Pros: - provided a detailed timeline, which she updated vendors via email as we made changes closer to the wedding date - met 2 times prior to wedding date to touch base with us - answered almost all my texts promptly - packed up everything for us at the end of the night - can communicate in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese Cons: - DID NOT NOTICE THAT OUR VIDEOGRAPHER WAS NOT PRESENT AT OUR CEREMONY until I, as the bride, texted her leaving from the ceremony "Hi Kate! We just thought of it but we didn't see the videographer at the ceremony??" She responded "Omg you're right! I didn't see him either" She did not notice that he wasn't there, and did not notice until I informed her AFTER the ceremony. She attempted to call the videographer when I informed her that he was missing. We ended up with no video of our ceremony....... - she was not able to make it to our rehearsal but then lacked communication with our ceremony venue coordinator, which led to numerous guests being locked out of the ceremony site upon their arrival without any direction as to why. One of whom was my own brother and his family. - upon guests arrival at our reception, she told confused/lost guests to just look at the seating chart, leaving my own mother, two of my uncles, one aunt and my brother actively taking guests to their seats. Leaving her two assistants who I'm assuming were supposed to be assigned that job, asking my family members if they were okay and wanted some water - once we started table toasting, she had her assistant direct us from table to table, but it quickly became apparent that her assistant lacked direction when she started trying to direct us to tables we've already toasted. Eventually our photographer ended up taking over after the first few tables. - several guests (2 adults and a 10 year old child) from my husband's side had severe food allergies (various oils, nuts, soy, dairy, msg... to list the major ones) we arranged allergy friendly sandwiches to be brought to Kate. My husband labeled their names on the respective sandwiches along with their table numbers, she said she would deliver them once dinner service began. Halfway through the table toasting, we come to the first table with guests that have food allergies and we were asked when they were going to get their sandwiches because they've been staring at their friends/family eating for the past hour or so. I then ask Kate's assistant who has been following us around from table to table to go get them. We then come across the second table with the guest that has a food allergy, and asked if she got her sandwich, and again never delivered. After a few more tables because we needed to keep moving on, I then see the assistant running around with the bag of sandwiches from table to table because she doesn't even know which tables to go to. We hired Kate solely because we didn't want to have a headache on our big day, and she's the one who promised us she would be in communication with all of our vendors two weeks prior to our big day, so we wouldn't have to worry about it. She emailed all of them like promised, but on the big day our videographer never showed up. When we first texted her about the missing videographer ,she seemed more focused on deflecting the blame and trying to get us to refocus on the positives of the day. We would've preferred if she just admitted fault or better yet, the response we were looking for would've been: Oh yes, I am aware of the absence of your videographer, but I have been trying to call him numerous times all morning, and he hasn't been responding. However, that was NOT the case. Once she got a hold of our videographer he tried calling us to apologize for the no-show, but the way he handled it seemed significantly more professional. But he said if he was called that morning he would've been able to make arrangements to come. Kate's response to the discovery of the missing videographer, was: "I've worked with him so many times in the past, and he's always been so reliable. So when he wasn't responding to my emails, I just assumed he got them and was going to be here." If she had been aware our vendor hadn't been responding to the email, a SINGLE phone call to the videographer ANYTIME within the two weeks prior to my wedding may have prevented this issue. There were quite a few more issues we had, but all things considered, these were the MAJOR ones. Again we had a very large traditional Chinese style wedding, so maybe on a smaller scale, she would have performed differently. Obviously with such a large wedding, my husband and I expected some things to go wrong, but the ones we mentioned we felt were the outstanding issues we had. read more

Kate was the mc for my sisters wedding. She's a great singer and can speak multiple languages. Unfortunately she messed up during our family announcements several times. Our family is not ideal with an ugly divorce and step parents so you can imagine how awkward it became when the family announcements got mixed up multiple times...hopefully no one will have to experience this in the future. read more

If my bride and I could give more stars on Yelp for Kate, we totally would. We booked Kate for our wedding reception recently, and she was amazing. She was sweet and easy to work with leading up to the wedding, but boy, did she deliver on wedding day. Like many of the other reviewers, Kate's singing talent grabbed everybody's attention during dinner. We had a handful of guests who specifically commented on how awesome of an MC she was, even asking us if we had known Kate personally before the wedding! Lol that's seriously a testament to her genuine and personable attitude. When there was a small hiccup during the reception schedule, Kate was quick to improvise and filled the time on the spot. It was seamless and she made a potentially awkward situation not awkward at all. Not to mention, she made things FUN! I originally hired Kate as a DOC, but our plans had changed halfway through our engagement. She was very understanding and empathic. Instead, we asked her to only perform as a singer. She knocked it out of the park! I gave her some songs that were curveballs. Such as John Legend, Extremes, and Elliot John to name a few. I was a little worried she wouldn't be able to sing such different songs, but she made it her own. All weddings bring drama and problems, but Kate knew exactly what to do. Like many brides, I was in charge of every aspect of my wedding and had to force myself to delegate responsibilities and trust all the vendors I hired. She's so experienced and it takes a lot for a bride to fully trust a vendor for such a big event. Kate is someone who is reliable and efficient. She arrived early, very collaborative, stayed in contact throughout the process, and easily accessible. She is worth so much more than what she charges. We got married in mid November. Kate was luckily available when we contacted her in June to be our MC with the possibility of also acting as a nondenominational officiant. Kate was super easy to work with. Closer to the wedding we went over the timeline for the ceremony and reception where Kate took our notes and gave us a lot of great suggestions. She worked with our wedding coordinators to deliver us exactly what we wanted superbly with no issues and no stress. Bride's side is Chinese and Kate spoke in Cantonese to be more welcoming. The number one compliment of our wedding was that it was fun, largely thanks to the games Kate helped us play; and number two was that they loved the MC. Literally, that was a compliment we heard from dozens of people. "The MC was amazing! Oh and we like your dress too." Kate even sang a beautiful song for us during the reception. I reached out to Kate for her services due to many praises on yelp for her great "services". We were in contact back and forth which was great until I asked her about her DJ package. She said she would email me the next day-fine. Two days later she still doesn't reply but I see that she's been active/online on her account.
