Literally, the lady named Tiffany Hunter-King ignored my countless email asked about the payment. NYS law requires the landlord to return the security deposit within 14 days after tenants moved out, or they should give reasons of deductions for the payment. Guess what?! They have given me nothing. No money, no explanation. Just expect I would forget about thousands of dollars and leave it to them. I have emailed them for 2 months without a single response from Tiffany. Danielle would reply, but all she was saying was Tiffany handles the return, I should contact Tiffany. Eventually, I am done with hide and seek, and just sent them a demand letter and submitted the complaint to state of attorney general's office. It happened shortly after I filed complaint and it got inspected. So call 311, call the unit doing inspection and setup an inspection day if they keep coming when you're not home - when there's enough serious violations city issues that AEP order so you don't even have to go to court. But if you do it's 45$ to file without an attorney and if your lease says you owe them legal fees for a lawsuit there's a law making it reciprocal so they will owe you too if you win. You can start with AI asking if you have the case, then you can request NYC bar referral service to get a 30 min consultation for 35$ or get legalshield app for unlimited consultations on any kind of legal matters.
