I parked here overnight to get some rest before continuing on my road trip. Overnight parking rules varies by state and Mississippi allows overnight parking at rest stops whereas Louisiana does not. But what amazed me was the security had blinds down and was knocked out sleeping durning the day. They have family children that stop at these rest areas and if they say security is on the premises then they should be out patrolling the grounds and being seen not sleeping on duty. I was here over a hour and he stayed sound asleep the whole time never came out the security shed. Mississippi do better get better security to do there jobs or you will have a lawsuit on your hands.

I must have arrived after a morning rush before the cleaning crew hit the bathrooms, because they needed some attention. The employees were friendly and efficient at the counter. Love this beautiful welcome center. It's perched neatly on a hill overlooking the Mississippi and…read morefacing west towards Louisiana. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The grassy space down below the raised brick patio circling the center features a row of cannons, poised to reject any attempt from Louisiana at invading Mississippi. The two steel framed bridges provide a great perspective shot for any photographer looking to play with leading lines. There are swallows residing on the piers giving a show to birdwatchers. A magnolia tree in front of the welcome center building proclaims you are in the south now, as if you didn't already know. There are bathrooms and plenty of visitor info in the center. Nearby casinos, if that's your thing. Or benches where you can sit and relax. It's an early June day at the time of my visit, and spring is still surprisingly present here. This makes for perfect conditions to sit and be in a beautiful space like this.
