Yet I was supposed to pay the first bill manually then the second payment would be auto pay. Does anyone really buy that argument? It's just another way for Verizon to fleece and scam customers. I spoke with Dennis (the owner) over the phone. He told me to bring it in, which I did at the start of this week (June 1st 2020). Upon meeting Dennis, he looked up the issue I was having. He saw that there were many small transistor parts to be replaced. Dennis gave me two prices; one for his service time (about two hours) and one for parts. At the same time he did ask me if I really wanted to spend the money (about $250 to repair). While he did not think it would pay, I told him to proceed, that I was not looking to buy a new model nor take a chance on someone else's used radio. Before he went any further, Dennis asked me if I really wanted to proceed at the anticipated cost. I told him to do so, understanding fully his cost breakdown at the time we spoke. I admire Dennis' honesty with me. I have known about B&R in my neighborhood for many years, and I was happy to find B&R still in business. FYI, another repair shop I called wanted money upfront just to look at it, regardless of whether or not I chose to proceed. This vendor was not even certain they had parts to repair it.
