I brought my car in to have the battery changed as it was dead. I left it there overnight and left a message on their messages to please change the battery. They said the battery replacement and labor would be $495.00!!! You have not read that wrong. I said forget it and brought it to another place that replaced the battery for $220.00 including labor. The thing that I found most irritating besides the outrageous price quoted was they charged me $57.00 for a diagnostic exam to tell me what I already told them-that my battery needed changing. So I was out $57.00 and they did nothing to help me. I do not like being taken advantage of and would not recommend this garage. read more

Tom was extremely polite, professional and knowledgeable. While my brother was in the hospital his car had to be inspected and there were car repairs that had to be completed. I just recently purchased a home in the area and was looking for a new shop to take our vehicles. This past week, I took my car to get inspected at Kars. My car did not pass inspection because they said the lower ball joints were bad and offered to replace them. If I declined I would still have to pay $47 for the inspection even though it failed and once we brought it back fixed it would be another $26. After my car did not pass inspection, I took my car to two different mechanics and they said the ball joints weren't loose at all and they passed my car for inspection for almost half the price Kars charged me. Its a shame that Kars will take advantage of people by overcharging and saying items need replaced when they really don't. I would not recommend using this shop for any servicing needs. read more

I was in the area and my GMC Yukon developed a knocking noise while braking. I was able to stop first at one of those large national chains. Well the experience there was less than favorable and I feel as if upon finding out about Kars, I escaped with my checkbook only robbed a little. A fellow employee who lives in the area recommended I call this shop. I did and though they were very busy. Tom, the service manager/service advisor said, "please bring it over and he'd see what they could do." It took a couple of hours but they got the Yukon in and quickly ascertained what the problem was and Tom took the time to explain a very technical issue in an understandable way. He advised me also about a leak from the engine, that I had know idea about and even took the time to show me. Finding out the costs to repair and that a part was not immediately available and my schedule was crazy, Tom provided a loaner. Really!!? Tom got me on my way to help me maintain my schedule. The repairs were completed the next day and at what I feel was a reasonable price and there was no charge for the loaner!!! I just had to fill the tank up. I can't believe this type of customer service still exists. I believe I've found my shop for all my vehicles and though I live about sixty miles away, I think any major repairs are coming here from now on. I don't believe you will be making any mistakes trusting this man and his shop. read more

Great knowledgeable service, everything was explained in I way I could understand. Communication by phone during repairs was top notch. My truck was ready when promised. They even called me the day after I picked up my truck to make sure I was satisfied with the repairs. The price wasn't the cheapest but it was fair. I brought my car in for an inspection. Every year it passes without fail, due to COVID and working from home, it had less than 3000 miles on it since the last inspection. KARS failed it for the physical inspection for items that are not on the Inspection list [cracked Horizontal bushings] and said it would cost over $1,200 to fix it. I emailed them with the inspection checklist that PENNDOT provides and asked where the bushings or related subsystems are on the list and explain why they failed the vehicle -- they never contacted me nor responded to the email [I also took the car to another location the next day and it passed -- I even pointed it out to the mechanic who said that the problem isn't even significant nor would it cause any problem.] I have contacted PENNDOT and opened an investigation into this bait and switch service. I am sure this works for other lemmings out there, but I am tired of this type of practice. I will be posting this review to every social media, newspaper and local TV outlet. Avoid this place at all cost--or it will cost you. read more

I am so impressed with Tom. We called the day after the big blizzard because one of our cars started making a word screeching skid and was driving rough. Tom cakes on Monday to say they were not plowed yet but that he knew I needed the case fixed and so here me the name of another garage he said was good. I appreciated his boredom so a decided to wait for them to be plowed. Anyway we took the car in and this make a long story short he did nothing was wrong with it and that it was likely just some ice caught underneath. There was nothing charge and he did he was happy for us there was nothing wrong and that the alignment looked great. A happy ending thanks to Tom's honesty And help! When we do have an issue we will go back there!!! read more

3 stars only for the LOANER car. SOOO, Obviously, this clean shop with very friendly staff ONLY serves the upper class, elite people of York County. The prices for basic stuff is very competitive, but god forbid you need something else. My car did something weird, couldnt figure it out, and I'm no mechanic. Well they claimed to figure it out, and I needed a 880.00 fix. So I got that. Not 2 hours later my car breaks down again. At this pic t I'm told it's one of 2 things. One was a 3200.00 fix, the other was an 1800.00 fix. After being told that 880 dollars would fix it I decided I would not be here again. If you have the money and the time to deal with wonderful people who are willing to do whatever they can to help you out then definitely go for it. If not, I would not recommend them to people who are on a budget or are not rich. If you're looking for simple routine work go for them. But be warned they are going to try and get you to get many other things done to your vehicle or scare you into other things. read more

Stopped in a coffee shop to ask for a suggestion of where I might have the car checked and Kars was recommended. Exceptional service Truly caring staff I just got into town to visit family for the weekend on a Friday -late afternoon . I just drove 400 miles from North Carolina and was expecting to drive back to be at work Monday morning. When we got out of the truck, I could smell brakes. Found one of my wheels HOT. I have an F250 Super Duty. I called all of the local Ford Service centers or anybody else I thought could help me. I got the same answer from everybody: "Sorry. We're closing soon and we're not open Saturdays." Kars offered to try and help me. They got right to work, diagnosed the malfunction, and offered to stay beyond their normal business hours to get my problem repaired and my truck safely back on the road to get my family home to North Carolina and me back to work Monday morning. They stayed more than 2 hours after their normal quitting time for a Friday evening. I appreciate their sacrifices to take care of me and my family. I cannot thank them enough. read more

On the worst possible week and with an important interview just 2 days away my Kia Sadona broke down with a bad alternator. In a tough spot and with no time to spare I called York Kia. They quoted me 600.00 dollars and 3 days for an appointment. Then I called my regular mechanic shop and was quoted 380.00 and an appointment the next day which could have worked. However In a last ditch effort I remembered Kars garage because it always looks so well kept when I drive by the name came to mind and I called them. Frank the owner answered the phone and he was very polite and professional. I first asked if I could bring my own alternator because I was in a hurry and a local auto parts store had one in stock although I will say if I had the time to spare Frank was right in line with the price I was getting from the parts store. Recognizing my urgency he offered an appointment and was totally understanding about me bringing the part. Upon arriving I was immediately impressed with the clean accommodating waiting room complete with TV, magazines, coffee and spring water. The pride of owner ship is obvious right away, Not only did Frank save the day the total job was still 70.00 dollars cheaper then my mechanic I have used for years. The job was finished in a timely manner and they even give you an updated recall list for your model when they are done. Like all places they look your car over and let you know other things that need fixed. What sets Kars apart is Franks professionalism and no pressure approach to mentioning the things you vehicle needs. Instead of feeling like I was being sold on extra work I trusted the assessment and welcomed an estimate on the varies things they found while repairing my vehicle. Frank was nice enough to break it down in to logical estimates so I can decide what and when to take care of the few things they found. Based on my experience today I would recommend Kars to everyone in the area. I would also mention that I would have no problem trusting my wife would be treated just as fairly as I was today just based on the care and effort made in the cleanliness of the waiting room and Franks wonderful disposition. My only regret is not trying them sooner! I also want to add that Frank obviously employs seasoned mature mechanics. In my brief interactions with two separate mechanics one in the parking lot and with the one who worked on my vehicle both were polite and professional. This is a well earned 5 star rating! read more
