Had a wheel bearing go out on my truck, called and they were able to get me in immediately. They tried to get me fixed up that day but ended up finding a few more things that needed to be addressed. The reason this is not a one-star review is the mechanic succeeded in fixing my car. However, here is one very good reason to think twice before using this shop: Their highly irregular billing practices. And I am being generous by using the word "irregular." This shop's policy is to charge a $130 diagnostic fee, which is perfectly fine and normal. Upon arrival, I spoke with the office manager (the mechanic's wife) and provided her with a written description of the vehicle's recent repair history, including other issues that the car was currently experiencing. Once she saw that information she said it would be necessary to *double* the diagnostic fee given how lengthy and complicated the diagnostic was *probably* going to be. Probably going to be? How about this for a novel idea: Bill me for the standard one-hour diagnostic, and, if it turns out that is not enough time, bill me for the next hour, and so on. The situation speaks for itself. Hold on to your wallet if you walk into this place. Hands down, the most deceptive business transaction that I have experienced in Ellensburg during decades of doing business here. read more

Amazing Finally a auto repair company that is dedicated at doing a good job, most just talk the talk, Karrakers walks the walk. Amazingly good companies are far and few between. Had my motorhome at 4 different repair shops even a Chevrolet dealership (what a joke they were). None could figure out what the problem was. In comes superman Mike and not only diagnosed the problem and fixed that but noticed potential future problems and repaired them with my approval and thanks. Many others would have just left them with future problems coming my way. If there was a rating between 1 and 10 Karrakers is a 20. Saturday is not a good day for this type of thing to happen since mechanics tend to be closed on weekends. I called Karraker because they were listed as "by appointment" on Saturdays and I was desperate. When she answered, I was told what I expected to hear "we are booked for the day"...but she did not leave me hanging. Just the opposite. She stayed on the phone and gave me enough info to troubleshoot the issue on my own. It was enough to get us on our way. So many mechanics would happily brush off strangers and mutter "we're busy. sorry". This shows what kind of place this with an exclamation mark. Thank you Jessica. read more

My Airstream RV remained with the shop from September, 2018 until May, 2019 with their failures to perform from agreed on as: keeping the RV in the shop to protect against winter's freeze (the RV broke down on the road home) to delays in finally ordering a turbo charger and installing, to even assuring me they would deliver to me in Seattle and then no call and no show of delivery. March 26, 2019, I came to pick up the Airstream. It appeared to me that the mechanic had not test run the engine prior to releasing it. After I drove barely 15 miles on the highway, it overheated and was still blowing black smoke . I paid $3,000. for that repair after 7 months in their shop and still, it was not repaired. I had to tow it home. My new diesel engine mechanic found that they failed to install an air filter and thus it caused the new turbo charger's seals to also be blown. They also charged me a lifetime warranty of $175.00 on the turbo-charger, and when my mechanic request they act on getting a replacement of the turbo charger, because of their failure to perform in its installation; they failed to do so and to date have not returned any calls. Do not use this shop. They are inconsistent to rude, unethical, and incompetent. read more

I was mid trip and I had a critical problem with my RV. I ended up having to get towed and my tow truck driver recommended KMS, and I'm sure glad that he did. The morning after I was dropped off at the KMS location I was informed that they were super backed up and that they would not be able to work on my rig for some time. I called around and the other local operation was in the same situation, so I left my vehicle with them. The estimate at that time was that they'd be able to diagnose my stuff in a couple weeks. I was given an estimate of the work perhaps 2-3 days after the time they gave. A couple of days after that I got the notice that my RV was ready to go, I went and picked it up the following workday. Totally happy with everything. Would certainly recommend them to anyone. If I was in the same situation with my knowledge now, I'd do exactly the same thing .. except maybe call the tow truck earlier. read more

Our family of 4 + 2 dogs were on our way from Portland to Leavenworth and our engine failed on the highway 15 miles outside Ellensburg about 4pm on a weekday. We called multiple mechanics who couldn't see us for days or weeks for emergency service, until KMS. I spoke with Jessica who said they were staying a little later at the shop and if we could get it there, they could take a look. Tow truck didn't come until after 9pm, so we met Jessica in the morning. Mike quickly did diagnostics and found the engine failure was a known issue with the model of the car. Jessica confirmed with the local dealership it would be covered under warranty and she helped me talk with roadside assistance to make sure towing would be reimbursed. She contacted a tow company for me, tried to help find us a rental to get back home (unfortunately, no rental cars available anywhere and we eventually had family come get us). Recently asked them if they had time to give my Sundowner horse trailer a look over after sitting a lot of the winter. I was SO HAPPY that they not only had time for me THAT day, but it was completely ready to transport my very spoiled and loved four legged fur babies in about 48hrs after drop off. The previous quotes I'd received from other dealers/service centers for horse trailers seemed RIDICULOUS in a both cost and time frame but not them! understand people have lives outside of work. i know life gets busy, things happen, and i don't expect my car to always be your top priority while you are dealing with the things life throws at you. but i think it's fair to expect that my calls are returned when you say you will return them, especially when i am left completely in the dark about what's going on. like if you can't figure out what's going on with the car just say that, i even explained that this car has had issues before that others weren't able to identify. but instead i pay money to have you guys fix it almost a month later after barely returning my calls, and then after i get the car back within another month the issue is worse than before. like???? what???? i just feel bad for the poor receptionist because the owners obviously just make her deal with their complete lack of communication. like they don't even tell HER what's going on. and then i call them back after i am having issues again and the owner is giving me an attitude because i went to napa to make sure my car was safe to drive 30 minutes back home? make it make sense. maybe stick to truck rentals. read more

I started going to KMS for oil changes when I decided to support a locally owned business rather than the chain I had been using and they've become our go-to shop for all our automotive needs. At my most recent oil change, Mike discovered brake pads that were "blocks away" from failing, which (if it happened) would have required a more extensive repair. He'd already squeezed me in for the oil change and he squeezed even further to fix the brakes for me so I could get back on the road safely and without causing the damage that would have been more expensive to fix. They have access to the local NAPA auto parts store and a runner was there within minutes with the parts needed for the repair. Less than an hour after pulling in, we were on our way. My young son was traveling on I-90 returning to Spokane when his Check Engine light came on and the engine began to stall out on him. He called me in a panic asking what he should do. I was a good three hours drive away so I went on Yelp looking for Automotive Repair options and luckily found Karraker Mechanical Solutions to be the closest to where he pulled off in Ellensburg. I called and spoke to Jessica who told me to have him bring it in if he could get there. Once my son arrived Mike was able to run diagnostics immediately and determined it to be a bad Ignition Crankshaft Position Sensor. The part was ordered and replaced in minimal time and my son was safely on his way. I can't begin to tell how much I appreciate Jessica and Mike taking care of my son without an appointment when I doubt any other garage could or would have done it so quickly.
